protonix

Avatar f tn but he prescribed a medication named pantoprazole sod 40 mg. Girl every since I started it I have had no heartburn at all, not even that gassy bloated feeling I also had...so talk to your Dr about the medication and see what he says. Best wishes.
Avatar n tn I am still waiting for biopsy results. My doc asked me to try Zantac, Prilosec, Pantoprazole Sod but nothing gave me even the slightest relief. I also tried baking soda, apple cider vinegar, TUMS but they didn't help either. I don't know what to do. I don't know why my doc thinks it is acid reflux. Other than chest tightness and pressure in the head I do not have other typical symptoms of acid reflux.
Avatar f tn Working on the pancreas is very different that SOD. Although with SOD the bile and the pancreatic fluids can back up and it can cause pancreatic issues. You don't want to be working with a primary doc on this issue. You should be working with someone with a large amount to experience in biliary issues and especially in SOD. It's a very specialized field, and small changes in medications can make large changes in the pressures.
Avatar n tn Since than I have still dealt with this horrible swishing or like that butterflies in your stomach filling, but it is where that valve is. I am told I have SOD Dysfunction. I have had many ERCP,S which resulted in pancreatitis almost every time. I went to Scott and White Hospital in Texas and was told that probably no doctor would be able to help me because the mortality rate would be 75-80%. He said the only doctor that could propably help is Dr. Lehman.
Avatar f tn Are you working with a doc who is very familiar with SOD? The only way to definitvely to diagnose SOD is via an ERCP with manometry.
Avatar f tn I went to my GI Doctor on Tues and after a long discussion and going over previous records and tests, he confirmed that this is probably SOD. He told me that he trained under Dr. Lehman at the Indiana University Hospital and that because I am a type 3, he would only feel comfortable me having the test done by Dr. Lehman or another Dr. he knew very well. My Dr. did order an Upper GI/SBFT to be done before I go to IU so that all bases are covered and he didn't leave out anything.
578470 tn?1272598124 Try Dr. Jaffrey Kazi 480-219-6662-- he's the only one I know who had a patient with SOD. Mayo clinic is good also -- but the cost! You might want to try University of Arizona in Tucson (I know it's far, but it costs less than Mayo), they've got a lot of new research out on it.
Avatar f tn I just had a pneumonia almost 2 months ago and i had ulcer last November but already been cured by pantoprazole domperidone. Now i feel like my ulcer reoccured again coz im having heartburn, stomach pain and bloating and nauseous. My question is can i take pantoprazole again even though i just had pneumonia and still having shortness of breath and chest pain? Pls help coz i dont know what really is the cause of my difficulty in breathing is it from having pneumonia or my ulcer.
Avatar f tn I could barely eat anything, intense nausea, on and off itching, tons of belching, When I would attempt to lay down it was extremely painful, so I had to see upright or upright on my left side. It has taken me 3 hospital attempts and finally after 7 wks got to see a gastro Dr. He ordered a MRCP which now he says my "ducts are dilated" but doesn't want to discuss til after I have an endoscopy. What could this be?
Avatar m tn Indiana University specializes in diseases of the Pancreas and SOD. Dr. Lehman is known nationally as well as Dr. Sherman for the number of ERCPs that they do there. It is the #1 center in the nation for SOD care; They are basically the top of the line as far as this speciality goes and if you can get there, I would not hesitate. You said you are in Illinois, mabye it's not too far. I drove 3 hours to get there, and woudl have driven even longer for sure.
Avatar m tn How long will I have to take pantoprazole 40mg/day for my acid reflux? Will I ever be cured from acid reflux hence no more medicine OR this is a life time thing which means continued use of daily medicine?
Avatar f tn Started seeing family Dr, then GI specialist and just last week had ERCP with Sphincterotomy. (SOD) I am feeling alot better. No back pain at all. Normal to hurt in same area they said for about 6 weeks til completely healed from the surgery. Had temp stents put in bile and pancreactic ducts for 3 days while in the hospital then removed. I never even heard of SOD until the GI specialist talked to me about it. 80 % success rate so will see.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the gastroenterology community! Tecta (which from my research, I believe is Pantoprazole) is a PPI and Zantac is a H2 blocker, so the answer most likely is that, yes you can take both of these together, but I would still recommend checking this out with your doctor.
Avatar f tn Still the same dosis of 2 /day. It all started end of June 2015. The dr eho prescribed zantac also mentioned it could come from the gallbladder but there would be no test to confirm that now (super weird reading all about it now). In September 2015 I had an egd done and the dr confirmed the gastritis. I had no ulcers and no bacterial infection. He also mentioned that I had a lot of bile in my stomach. But nothing was done about that. I got pantoprazole after that procedure.
Avatar f tn Nani - I am not sure about the skin color and tailbone problems, but sometimes after gall bladder surgery people end up with Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction which I believe is what the Biliary Dyskinesia is - it's basically a muscle that attaches to the pancreas from the small intestines that is not functioning properly and is causing a back up of bile in the common bile duct. Do some searching online for SOD (Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction) and you'll get a lot of information.
Avatar n tn However, I discussed this with my doc and she said due to the fact that the HIDA scan revealed an issue with the gall bladder it is not SOD as SOD is diagnosed when all tests come back normal and my HIDA scan did not. I have had many docs tell me many and very different diagnosis so any ideas, suggestions or comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!!
Avatar m tn That link she gave you to the John Hopkins website is EXTREMELY helpful, and I learned a lot about SOD from the 4-5 pages that are about SOD. Be sure to check it out!
Avatar f tn SOD can be difficult to diagnose and the only true procedure to know whether or not a condition IS SOD is via ERCP with manometry. Docs can go round and round with patients who are showing a variety of 'wierd' symptoms. Unfortunately, a lot of the patients are 'diagnosed' with acid reflux or other conditions when the LFTs don't come back as elevated. It would be nice if everyone with SOD had instantly elevated LFTs, but that doesn't always happen.
Avatar f tn Hi there, after suffering with chronic pain in my upper right quadrant for the past 8-10 years I finally got referred to a gastroenterologist today and after a thorough consultation, I was, for the first time in my life, diagnosed with and given a name to my condition - sphincter of oddi dysfunction. The Dr was quite certain that my condition was due to my stressful job and commented that it was a rare condition he had only seen in 4 other patients - all of whom were women in a similar position.
Avatar n tn Since that attack I have been plagued with continuous upper abdomal discomfort, gurgling, wind and pain on both right and left side immediately under the breast. I even have shap chest pain. I wonder if I suffer from SOD and if so does anyone else have these symptoms. They often resemble symptoms of hiatus hernia, indigestion and heartburn.
