Avatar n tn Question : Can my mom take 40 mg of pantoprazole instead of 20 mg of teva-rabeprazole because she is out of teva-rabeprazole. It is extremely dangerous to substitute one drug for another. Your mom needs to go back to the doctor who prescribed her the teva-rabeprazole and tell him or her that her prescription is finished. The other drug you're asking if your mother should take i.e. the pantoprazole is also twice the amount of the other.
Avatar n tn I have recently read that it does and am curious what others think. I have GERD and Hiatal Hernia and take Pantoprazole, 40 mg twice a day.

Avatar f tn For the past 1 1/2 years, I've had trouble digesting my food. I've had excessive acid, an irregular Z-line, gas buildup in my instestine and very loud digestion (they can hear me across the room), and a poking pain in my gallbladder area. I've had two endoscopes (one with u/s), several blood tests showing a slightly elevated liver enzyme result, a colonoscopy, and a hida-scan showing 98% function level.

I had gas problem for last 3 weeks and doctor prescribed pantoprazole. when I get up in the morning I feel slightly less blood supply to my hand fingers.
Avatar n tn I am still waiting for biopsy results. My doc asked me to try Zantac, Prilosec, Pantoprazole Sod but nothing gave me even the slightest relief. I also tried baking soda, apple cider vinegar, TUMS but they didn't help either. I don't know what to do. I don't know why my doc thinks it is acid reflux. Other than chest tightness and pressure in the head I do not have other typical symptoms of acid reflux.
Avatar n tn Earlier I thought it was hyperacidity because it once got cured by famotidine but now it is not getting cured even by pantoprazole 40 mg daily since 25 days . I have shown to many physicians but they just prescribe me appetite stimulants & they dont seem to have any effect on me. Can you please tell me know the reason for my suffering & its cure as it is badly affecting my quality of life. Thanks a lot for all your help.
Avatar m tn Greeetings, LPR does not presents with symptoms in many ocations unless trigger by an episode of forcefull use of voice like being in a kariokee for example. The symptom improvement should fall iwith in 3 month period. The recommended treatment is 90 days use of an antiacid of the PPI class, ( Proton Pump Inhibitors ), like Omeprazole, ( Prilosec ), or Pantoprazole, ( Protonix ) for example, at low dose but TWICE a day BEFORE meals.

Avatar f tn What did the manometric pressures read? Typically anything over about 40 suggests the presence of SOD. Was a sphinterotomy done? That's making a 'cut' in the muscular opening - the sphincter of Oddi. Does she have sludge in the gallbladder? In many cases the SOD can be caused by the passage of sludge from the GB to the common bile duct. It irritates the duct and causes the spasms. You mentioned she had 2 procedures done on her pancreas - what were they?
Avatar f tn Currently my prescribed med i take are spironolactone 100 mg/day, bupropion 400 mg/day, domperidone 40 mg/day, rabeprazole ec 20 mg/day, arthrotec 100 mg/day, Trazodone 200 mg/day, ducosate sod 200 mg/day, and citalopram 60 mg/day. exlax is extra strength and i take two/day and the diurex is 200 mg and I take 1/day. Just a little history on me for such a short question I want to ask, but I want you to have all the info.
433485 tn?1321813390 I would always listen to your doctor. If you don't feel comfortable ramping up the Lexapro, perhaps you could talk about a change in meds or the addition of another med. You have to let your doctor know how you feel.
Avatar n tn It can be very difficult to find a doc that knows of SOD. Much like that Mystery Diagnosis show on DH, most SOD patients go through a lot of problems while they are trying to figure out what is going on. where are you guys from? You need to find a GI who specializes in diseases of the pancreas, or at least knows of SOD and can refer you to someone who does. Major centers that I trust are in North Carolina, Minnesota and Indiana.
541776 tn?1214013250 is it conect with my a weak stomach? coz my Dr said i got gastric cronic. daily i take medicine as pantoprazole 40 mg in morning n in n8. is it true that i got my gastric cronic influenced by my much thinking?
Avatar n tn m stuck with the idea of increasing back to 40 mg. are there any other options out there for dealing with a vagus nerve issue due to reflux?
Avatar f tn These do not guarantee showing SOD, but there are two types of SOD that can be indicated by checking these levels. The only true way to DX SOD is via ERCP with manometry which should only be done by top experts in the country. I agree with CalGal....SOD can be the beginning of a long road pain, although some have luck with medical treatment (meds) and surgery.
Avatar f tn It makes me wonder if your current Gastroenterologist got his medical degree out of a cereal box, because SOD is a narrowing of the valve that channels bile and pancreatic juices. The main treatment I've seen for that is to widen the valve surgically to prevent the bile from backing up and causing pain. A scary prospect, I know, but so is living in agony with no relief for 2 more years.
578470 tn?1272598124 I am a 40 year old female and have had several "attacks" that have sent me to the ER in horrific RUQ pain radiating to my right shoulder blade, bloating, diarrhea and nausea. My first attack was in August of 2007. I had broken my back in a traumatic horseback accident in March of 2007. I had Kyphoplasty on T12 in April '07 followed by shoulder surgery in July '07 to repair a tear as well as remove bone spurs and decompress the joint.
Avatar m tn To get back on track, is it normal to have a constant (dull) pain—mid back, green stools and urine with SOD III (if it is in fact, SOD), and if not what should I do? I have an appointment with the gastroenterologist in a few weeks (the earliest they could get me in). My GP does not know what to do for me. The episodes have been so frequent I have not been able to work the past four weeks. The way it is going, it does not look like I will get back before I see the specialist in a few weeks.
Avatar f tn It’s only once in a while. I was prescribed Pantoprazole SOD 40mg which I take every morning before breakfast. Stomach pain and all the bathroom issues still continued. I believe the dr took some tissue samples from the stomach, but the results are not in yet-but I have a follow up on Dec 4. My colonoscopy was done just yesterday 11/17. Everything looked good, except my colon was red and slightly inflamed. Again, I think he may have taken tissue samples which all results should be in Dec 4.
