10168 tn?1470588977 Is there a place where I can get allergy testing of inactive ingredients that's in my Synthroid? Thanks.
Avatar f tn Levothyroxine is the active ingredient for both of them; the difference is the inactive ingredients (fillers/binders and dyes) they each contain. Levothyroxine is also the generic for all brands of T4 medications. Inactive ingredients in Synthroid are: acacia, confectioner's sugar, D&C Red No. 27 & D&C Red No. 30, FD&C Blue No. 1, lactose, magnesium stearate, povidone, and talc.
Avatar f tn “Nature-Throid is a hypoallergenic combination thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3) hormone replacement drug made from Thyroid USP. Nature-Throid is formulated using hypoallergenic inactive ingredients and does not contain any artificial colors or flavors, corn, peanut, rice, gluten, soy, yeast, egg or fish/shellfish.” I notice is doesn’t say what it DOES contain, just what it doesn’t.
Avatar f tn //www.pdr.net/full-prescribing-information/Nature-Throid-thyroid-496 https://www.drugs.com/pro/armour-thyroid.html From review of the active ingredients I can't imagine why there would be a difference in thyroid effect. If it were me I would question cutting your dosage in half and risking becoming hypo again, unless the doctor can provide a valid reason. I have switched from Armour to NatureThroid without noticing any effect. What is your current daily dosage?
Avatar m tn I also had kidney stones in the past and read that some of the inactive ingredients in acid reducers can cause that. Along with constipation, so I don't want to be on an acid reducer which can cause those in long type use.
Avatar n tn Generic pills do differ, however, in the inactive ingredients, such as color, flavoring, preservatives and the filler materials that hold the pill or tablet together. Although uncommon, some people may be allergic to one or more of these inactive ingredients. Issues with Seizure Medications For some people using certain medications, generics can be a problem. This is most often a problem with medications in which even a miniscule change in dose can be ineffective or cause side effects.
Avatar m tn Aleve's first inactive ingredient is magnesium and magnesium blocks the absorption of synthroid. So why isn't alleve on the interaction list with Synthroid?
Avatar n tn Generics all have their own names but from a chemical standpoint, the active ingredients are identical to the name brand. Where Junel and Blisovi differ is just in the inactive ingredients.
Avatar f tn I have looked up all the medications available for hypothyroid and they all seem to contain the same inactive ingredients. Getting pretty scared at this point. Dr. says to take antihistamines before taking the synthroid, but hives are still there and I can still feel the reaction going on. Don't know how much longer I can continue this. Please help!
Avatar m tn Some other companies which has same composition but other inactive ingredients and preservatives, they might take the color of inactive ingredients or color of natural or synthetic chemicals mixed: like Vytone or Ethex,Alcortin,Glades or Dynarex. If you might have noticed on the label it says 'Paraben free',which is a potential ingredient if included in composition causes severe allergic reactions, which is a good thing.
Avatar n tn Yes, Synthroid is the same as Levoxyl as being a brand thyroid medication. However, Levoxyl has less inactive ingredients than Synthroid, with less chance for adverse reactions. Active ingredients are the same. The active ingredient T4, is not known to cause adverse issues, however, the inactive ingredients in all the thyroid medications (including Armour and Cytomel), are the actual culprits. Armour is not a 100% natural. Nor a 100% cure-all for all our symptoms.

Avatar m tn both are horrible
3947271 tn?1349502251 The active ingredients are calcium carbonate (550 mg) and magnesium hydroxide (110 mg). The inactive ingredients are dextrose, flavoring, magnesium stearate, polyethylene glycol, pregelatinized starch, and sucrose. Some docs say they are alright to take, some don't and the ones who say not to only reccomend it because they contain aluminum..
Avatar m tn Yes, I noticed that too with Tremadol because as soon as it wears off, my bladder burns horribly worse. Celexa does the same thing. I have always wondered if sodium laural(th) sulfate stuff and the inactive ingredients was flaring it up worse.
Avatar m tn 1) Take the package into the pharmacy and ask the pharmacist if they know b) Contact the manufacturer of the medication (will be listed on the bottle/box) and ask them what the inactive ingredients/fillers, etc. are in the medication. Sometimes, these things are listed on the original packaging box, so if your pharmacy distributes the meds in their orginal box (rather than puttin gthem into a bottle), you might want to look at the box yourself and see if anything is lsted.
Avatar f tn t actively say it but when I was trying to find some explanation for my problems, I found their latest package insert at it listed 2 additional inactive ingredients that were not in the formula change since 2002, and my current package insert still had the old 3 inactive ingredients. So I investigated thinking this was my problem. I finally got someone after months to tell me the real story.
Avatar n tn if i am allergic to sulfate, an inactive ingredient in crest toothpaste, should i use it? i have been using creast for a while, not realizing it contained sulfate. I am extremely tired all the time.
Avatar f tn Different manufacturers use different fillers (inactive ingredients) in their tablets. Some people are sensitive to these and can feel much better just by switching brand. It's always best, once you find something that works well for you, to stick with it. Consistency is very important. While some people do very well on generics, your pharmacy can change it's generic manufacturer at any time without warning and without notice.
Avatar f tn Recently however when i went to the chemist the 50mcg was made by a different lab and had slightly different inactive ingredients (probably what is used to coat the tablets). My headaches that had improved are now returning quite severely after being on the new 50mcg levothyroxine pills with my normal 25mcg ones for 4/5 weeks. Is it possible to react towards different brands of the same thing?
Avatar f tn The inactive ingredients in Cytomel consist of calcium sulfate, gelatin, starch, stearic acid, sucrose and talc. No microcrystalline filler shown. You can get Cytomel, or generic, in 5 mcg tablet. That should be a small enough increment for you to titrate your dosage slowly. With that small amount, why would you need to go to a TR version? Did the hives show up right after you switched?
Avatar n tn However, be aware that differnt brand names and generic do contain different inactive ingredients (fillers). Sometimes people have a reaction to a filler and changing brands can help that.
