pantoprazole and pregnancy

Well I was on omeprazol and my OB took me off because it wasn't super safe and tested during pregnancy! But the doctor that confirmed my pregnancy told me it was fine. I think that there are some medications that are on the edge (like zofran) and had many different opinions. I always choose the natural route during my pregnancy though and I've suffered with GERD or acid reflux my entire life!

About a year ago I complained to my Doc that I was getting heartburn, etc, too often again, and he upped my dose to 2 pantoprazole per day, which barely improved things, hense the scope. I've tried Tecta, which didn't seem to work for me, but I've never tried Prilosec nor Protonix (I don't think).

I am still tapering Pantoprazole but acid reflux is there and most likely caused by the multiple medications I am taking. I am taking Pantoprazole and all other medications in the morning/except the statin/, Plavix at noon and Ranitidine at night. Horrible coctail and there is no escape:) Please, let me know how your blood work went.

Got on pantoprazole for the reflux, it’s been working great but in the last week I’ve had this pins and needles sensation in my legs feel nauseous and I can’t seem to shake that somethings wrong with me. I’m in constant fear. I don’t know if the pantoprazole is giving me the tingling feeling because I’m not on anything else?

The results of my colonoscopy and endoscopy were a healthy colon and intestines. My LES was noted as “gaping” and I have rough stomach lining, and there was blood found. They biopsied everything and all biopsies came back normal. I have tested negative for h. pylori twice by stool test and negative one by biopsy. I don’t use any NSAIDS. I just want insight as to why these things are happening to me or why they could be happening.

What is the best way to take GERD meds and vitamins with them? I'm on three daily doses of pantoprazole 40mg which I take morning/breakfast, supper and bedtime. I'm also taking calcium, vit D and a multivitamin because I'm having a lot of trouble eating because of complications from jaw surgery (and since I can't take any pain meds). The calcium is suppose to be taken three times a day with a meal but not near any other meds.

Then I started having stomach pains and I was put on the antacid pantoprazole and a stool softener for constipation. After about a month and a half I was feeling so good I stopped taking the pantoprazole after consulting with my doctor. A week later I was having bad GERD and went back on it. I still don't know what initially caused the bloating, why it ramped up to GERD so quickly off the medication, and how damaged my LES is now.

Is anyone else suffering the same symptoms as me? What do you do about it? Im very concerned as Im in a lot of pain,it keeps flaring up too. I have pain soon after I eat in a morning. It starts like a pulling in my oesophaghus. It feels like something is stuck there. It hurts a lot and I can't swallow without it hurting. It feels like a pressure there and it also feels inflamed and bloats all the way up from my stomach.

Hi, my mom was taking teva-rabeprazole 20mg and now she is out of them can she take pantoprazole 40mg now?

I was very restless and anxious and the warnings were to quit it immediately if I experienced those symptoms. So, my OB put me on Prilosec OTC this week----I have read pros and cons on line.....anyone else out there have an opinion?

I'd suggest that most of us who contribute on this chat board have experience with the need of antacids as adults and would be clueless and helpless to have any help to you. I'd suggest you reframe your question to you doctor and also the drug manufacturer, and also ask the question of the pharmacy of the nearest teaching hospital where you live. Best wishes.

I am being weaned from pantoprazole with ranitidine. It seems that now that we have reached the pantoprazole every third day stage, I am getting weekly bouts of diarrhea, especially if I drink more than one cup of coffee. Is this a side effect? The diarrhea wakes me at night.

I have recently read that it does and am curious what others think. I have GERD and Hiatal Hernia and take Pantoprazole, 40 mg twice a day.

I have acid reflux but it started after the pregnancy. I get the lovely aching chest pain with it. Once I hit 13 weeks my doctor was able to prescribe pantoprazole that is safe in second and third trimester. I take it twice a day with a meal and it's worked wonders!

It seemed to help for about a week then stopped helping. I was switched to pantoprazole and that seemed to work for about 3 weeks but now I’m back to feeling bloating and crampy again. I am not sure what to do at this point. I’m worried about it being something more serious like stomach cancer, but also don’t want to be a headcase. Any thoughts?

I have been waking up at 6am every morning for the past two weeks feeling so nauseous that I throw up this yellow liquid. I barely get any sleep anymore. I'm a college student and it is affecting my performance in school. . It usually lasts from around 6am to mid afternoon and then I don't feel nauseated anymore. I think that it might be stress related. Do you have any idea what is wrong with me?

i was feeling ok for a few months then suddenly i developed nausea a week ago and the doctor prescibed tinidizole with acidity tablets. i took for 3 days along with my homeopathy medicine but i still feel heaviness in my head when i lie down so im not able to sleep. kindly advice me what to do.

I should also mention that I had a clear colonoscopy which is great. However, the pain never really seemed to be lower- it's between my navel and rib cage often radiating to my back. The diarrhea is sticky and either black or grey and it burns. I tested negative for occult blood. Rarely with the dry heaving fits do I vomit, but when I do it is dark purple or greyish.

RNRita - I'm worried about going off because it really did help. I used to use Gaviscon but it stopped working. I have been on Protonix for quite a while so maybe I will stop and see if I can have luck with Gaviscon and Tums again. Did the pvc's stop right away as soon as you went off it? WIsconsin2007 - I don't see any literature with palps as a side effect either and my cardio gave them to me and told me it wouldn't bother my heart. But I have to wonder....

M ON BIRTH CONTROL PILLS AND I EVEN WENT TO THE DR AND TOOK A PREGNANCY TEST AND IT WAS NEG. I ALSO HAVE MIGRAINES THAT ARE WORSE IN THE MORNING. ANY IDEA WHAT COULD BE HAPPENING TO ME? I'M ONLY 20YRS OLD. UGH SO YOUNG AND ALREADY FEEL LIKE THIS. THANKS FOR READING MY QUESTION.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community! Tecta (which from my research, I believe is Pantoprazole) is a PPI and Zantac is a H2 blocker, so the answer most likely is that, yes you can take both of these together, but I would still recommend checking this out with your doctor.

Welcome to the gastroenterology community! From your profile I see that you are a teenager and I assume you live in the US. I would guess that this is anxiety, which I see that you also have from your profile. Pantoprazole (Protonix) is only by perscription and treats GERD which I don't think you have and Domperidone is not FDA approved in the US so I would not recommend either of these suggestion.

My dr put me on pantoprazole on monday because i had acid reflux so bad i wss throwing up, burning my throat, and was up all night long, tums worked for 5 mins and maalox worked for 45 mins if i was lucky so she put me on it and i take it everyday and i have yet to have heartburn since monday!

This has been on-going for a few years. It was determined I have GERD but I have no acid reflux symptoms other than occasional indigestion/gas. I have no heartburn or reflux type symptoms and my EDG showed only 1 small erosion. I've been on PPI's like pantoprazole, omeprazole, lanoprazole, all because of this "lump sensation" that developed years ago.
