Our nine year old dog Tess is waking early hours of the morning panting, shivering and barking, all with her tail waging. She barks mainly at the dog door and then runs around the house, then back to the door and off again. When I pick her up she wants to lick me (normally she isn't a licking dog). My 14+ year old female Jack Russell was on heart medication, fortekor for 7-8 years and recently she has developed mild coughing (coughing frequency about 2-3 times a day) since last month and the vet prescribed her additional medicine such as pred syrup and prodin syrup for 5-7 days. But after taking the steroid for 4 days, she started panting more and shiver on off the whole day especially more on morning and night. She was normal (except coughing) before the pred syrup till the 4th day.
I know that happens sometimes with anesthesia. I also had two cats with a weird eye infection recently. None of the other 6 cats or the kitten has showed signs of that yet. Thank God. I get nervous when one gets sick.

is the shortness of breath being referred to in the other questions anything like panting? My son is doing this panting thing....yes...like a dog. But they are spaced out, one in and out breath, and rather shallow. Other than that, this seems to be a great help to him. I see a huge difference...it's all good. No appetite problems, no flat personality, he is great.
Get a syringe or eye dropper and force feed him. He might be dehydrated as well, so he needs liquids or you will have to take him to the Evet for IVs. A cat 10 years old is considered senior but he isn't too old to give up on him. You need to get him tested for FIP and other illnesses that may be causing this weight loss and lack of appetite. I am pretty sure there are appetite stimulants over the counter for cats, but I'm not sure if they work.

Two weeks ago after walking, she never stopped panting, and has been panting ever since. The only time she doesnt pant is when she lies with her head flat between her paws. Initially an urinalysis, thyroid profile, lab profile(CBC), lab profile (gen diag) were done. Then chest x-rays were done, and Prednisone, Ciprofloxacin, and Aminophyline perscribed. All these medications were stopped by the vet at intervals as she didnt improve.
I have a 4 year old, 11lb Yorkie that keeps panting at night. It is like clock work!!! Every time between 6 and 7pm, he starts breathing hard. There are fans everywhere directed right on him. It appears that his right front arm is paralyzed or something. He cant walk on it and he drags it around. He appears very uncomfortable and he starts panting every few minutes. Do you have any answers?
it only lasted about a minute, but then she lays there, panting, and her muscles relax, and she wakes up, all dazed and starts to purr as loud as she can, rubbing against my legs. (sometimes, she does this, then gets paralyzed and can't walk, and plops onto the ground, and her muscles tense again. i've read on the internet and haven't heard of any other cats doing this.
s genuinely sweet and is nice to everyone, but she has an extremely anxious personality, never calms down, has an obsessive personality towards our cats, just never sits.. always panting and pacing. if she's not doing thatt Then she's whining...

This evening she has started breathing very heavily and panting. We phoned our vet who asked us to check the colour of her gums, feel if her paws were warm and count her heartbeat - all of which she said was ok.
