Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis weight gain

pancreatitis

Avatar m tn Im wondering what causes that especially in pancreatitis? I loss alot of weight a year ago, was real sick with abnormal bruising and weakness, falling down, ect, this was before pancreas started acting up again, prior to that I had only one acute episode of pancreatitis. Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver.
Avatar f tn I have never taken Lithium though so I am not sure what the gain is like with that. Usually the weight gain with meds is about 10lbs and levels off there. Its nothing drastic. Huge congratulations on the weight loss! Talk to your doctor more about your concerns regarding weight gain and the meds. But I didnt have any gain with the depakote. I did however wind up with pancreatitis caused by the med and had to come off it.
Avatar f tn The pain has stoped for me well from a range from 1-10 its at about a 4 now ,ive also have bowel problems which lead me to loose alot of weight and i cant gain it back .
Avatar n tn I have lost a lot of weight and cannot gain it back. What causes insufficient pancreas, will it lead to pancreatic cancer, what can I eat to gain weight, what can I eat to not have severe pain, and what can I do to stop the constant pain? my email address is marge.
Avatar n tn Can you please tell me why my dog will not gain weight? Ive been feeding him burger, chicken, and rice for a few weeks now, and he will not gain his weight back!?
Avatar f tn Well, victoza will start off making you have nausea, vomiting sometime. You will get past this, it can take up to three months. After that I just kind of never felt right but thought I was just going to have to deal with this the rest of my life! Than about at 10 to 12 months I started to have severe stomach pain which I thought was my gall bladder. I was probably having pancreatic attacks, but never went to the hospital to have blood work; very stupid idea by the way.
471161 tn?1317190950 I know someone who went this direction and ended up with pancreatitis. Can you please tell me what blood tests he should get and maybe what foods to stay away from or something/ His doctor only told him to lose weight and nothing else. Oh he did put him on a statin drug for high triglycerides but no blood work. The fatty liver was found by an ultrasound. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Avatar m tn His constant meowing is driving me crazy.he lost weight whwhen really sick. He is still underweight but why does he demand food 24/7? I'm so stressed out I can't think straight. Upset too if his DX was wrong we spent so much $$ on labs/meds. Now I'm not sure/don't think he has it! Help.

Avatar n tn It sounds like your husband has at least pancreatitis based on CT, but it is unusual that the other blood work was normal. Usually pancreatitis presents with elevated amylase and/or lipase. Significant weight loss is concerning for cancer. Jaundice, dark urine, and light stools would also be concerning if present.
Avatar f tn After being hospitalized a year ago (cape coral fl) for what had to be the 20th outbreak of acute pancreatitis it finally broke. The doctor told me I have type 2 diabetes and chronic pancreatitis. Which is a crap combination since I overly avoid eating anymore in fear of the potential consequence. Idk what to do, where to go, how to gain some semblance of normalcy back, and it's destroying me. Any insights would be appreciated and welcomed..
Avatar m tn This condition is called meralgia paresthetica and is often due to weight gain or wearing tight clothes and belts. Losing some weight or wearing loose clothes and belts often helps relieve the pain/numbness/tingling. Also injection of lignocaine (anesthetic agent) at the site helps. In your case you can apply a pain reliever at the site. I think you should discuss these possibilities with your doctor. It is difficult to comment beyond this without examining.
Avatar f tn My chocolate lab "Skip" is about 10 years old and developed pancreatitis for the first time. We took him to the doctor he never vomited or diahrea until the day after he got to the vets office. His amalyse was high like 8000 and his glucose and white blood count low but we got an ultrasound to make sure not cancer. He started to show improvements with the IV and antibiotic. Now a week later he is starting to decline and the vet has tried everything.
Avatar m tn Increased appetite, weight gain, thrombocytopenia, skin rashes, liver disorders, acne, pancreatitis etc.are few of the side effects. Your doctor has advised you to take this medication since the benefits outweigh the risks. Be vigilant in case you develop yellowish discoloration of the skin eyes or develop any new symptom seek medical help urgently. I sincerely hope it helps. Take care and regards!
Avatar m tn she is 40years old and suffering from chronic calcific pancreatitis since a year. But we got to know about it only a month ago as she was going through weight loss and oily stools. she has been through ERCP but doctors could not remove calculi present in the pancreatic duct head. so they suggested ESWL for blasting calculi. now when we took second opinion, the doctor says that ESWL is not recommended as she doesnot have any pain , oily stools or weight loss.
719251 tn?1230340905 My mother has been suffering from Pancreatitis for the past 4months. She has been in hospital three times with severe pain, vomitting, and fluid in the abdominal. In that time she has lots over 25kg. She is 60 years old but since loosing so much weight she looks like 80 years old. She no longer drinks but continues to smoke. What worries me the most is that she eats very tiny amount of food, she vomitts everyday and she is just not getting any better.

Avatar f tn I was diagnosed in 2001 with Pancreatitis. Dr. did a couple of scopes (endo & gastro) I was put on 3 different meds. Domparadone, Buscopan, Rapabrazole (excuse the spelling, its very late) Also on a clear liquid diet for 2 months. Lost a lot of weight during this. Thought the problem was fixed. Then one day, BAM its back. Is there a cure, or is this another disease I just am going to have to "live" with? Any help is greatly appreciated.
Avatar n tn problems with your vision; swelling, rapid weight gain; feeling short of breath; severe depression, seizure ; bloody or tarry stools, pancreatitis; confusion, uneven heart rate, extreme thirst, increased urination, leg discomfort, muscle weakness or limp feeling or high blood pressure. You can read more about this through this link: http://www.drugs.com/prednisone.html If this persists, you can always discuss this with your doctor for an alternative drug that works for you.
1639915 tn?1378929213 Im glad she is doing better to She is hyper and back to the normal her I didnt think about the treats when I bought them because they are the same brand as her dog food so I just figured that since she ate the dog food then she would be able to eat the treats as well The vet said I could try and give her the treats again if I want just to make sure that I watched how much she was eating because all of my dogs got tape worms later last year and they all lost weight her included so we were keepi
Avatar f tn As long as I keep my weight up and gain a few pounds then they will not have to insert the feeding tube. I am worried about the medications I am on...especially the pain pills as I never took anything with my last pregnancies. I thought many times if I should terminate this pregnancy to get me healthy but I just can't! I feel as this baby saved me because I got tired of the local ERs treating me like a drug addict that I was giving up...then along came baby...
611067 tn?1458591483 I saw my gastro doctor and he says that he does NOT think I have chronic pancreatitis like my family doctor thought. He said that my lipace levels were not high enough and that the pain and bloating does not indicate that, plus the MRI shows that everything in that region looks good. He thinks that maybe there is something wrong near the connection sites from my gastric bypass. So, he has me scheduled for an endoscope on Nov. 11th.
Avatar f tn My appetite, sleep and health are generally all fine otherwise, with no noticeable weight loss/gain, no fatigue, no fever. I would say it is more discomfort from bloating/trapped gas rather than pain. Any ideas? Thanks. This discussion is related to pain in left side under rib cage.
