Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis triggers

pancreatitis

Avatar n tn Same thing happened with me.. I am a 35 year old man with acute pancreatitis. I'm a - rather, was a heavy nicorette chewer. After the first attack, after little relief, I started to chew the gum again. In a few days I got another attack - this time a very acute one - this attack made a necrosis at the head of the pancreas. There is an association - definitely!
Avatar f tn The pain actually has gotten worse since since I’ve stopped the wine. The emergency room doctor thought it was a mild case of pancreatitis but my family doctor believes it’s an ulcer. I’ve been taking 40 mg of Prilosec as well as sucralfate. I’ve also been having some weight loss. I had a CT scan and everything came back normal as well as an ultrasound. Bloodwork looks good except for that Lipase panel. Trying to get into see a gastrologist but because of the coronavirus and not able to.
Avatar f tn He had a cholecystectomy about 7 years ago so not a gallbladder problem, he has had pancreatitis in the past (2x), last time he was in so much pain he was admitted to the hospital and kept NPO for 4 days. He has never been a heavy drinker and he doesn't have a gall bladder so I'm not sure what could cause the pancreatitis. He has cut out all alcohol and fatty and sugary foods, but still no luck in pain relief.
Avatar n tn My husband, age 40, started out with elevated lipase levels (650-750 range) consistently for the past 4 weeks. He was a heavy drinker, smokes, and eats a lot of fatty foods. He has gone through massive blood testing throughout the month and everything is normal except for the elevated Lipase levels, had quit drinking a month ago, had an Ultrasound, CT Scan, and MRI which were all normal. I have noticed signs of depression, anxiety, and his stomach discomfort for at least the past 6 months.
Avatar f tn Breathing, moving, talking, and sitting or standing up only make it worse. Working out to get into shape triggers an attack. However I can be lying still in bed asleep and attack triggered. There is no rhyme or reason for the pangs. My doctors said that it was the muscles surrounding my chest wall, and that they were overextended. However they also said they weren't sure if that really was it. They told me to take to weeks rest from any physical strain and I'd be fine.
Avatar m tn My daughter, 21, has many recurring pancreatitis attacks. This began 2+ years ago. She has been to every hospital in Green bay, but all of her surgeries have been performed at Froedtert in Milwaukee. Sadly, they still do not know what her triggers are. Her weight plummeted to 89 pounds because she could not eat anything. She has been on every diet, including NOT eating, but when even a drink of water triggers the awful pain, vomiting and diarrhea, she needs to return to the hospital.
10623623 tn?1414292089 t understand why my emotions are so crazy. Am I just supposed to walk away from triggers right now or ignore them? Or should I be facing them head on and dealing with them?
Avatar f tn The cravings will always be with us, they just lessen with time but we always have to have a plan in place and our guard up. Are you still going to your outpatient counseling? Identify your triggers and then you can deal with them. Using is not an option here. Get yourself busy, turn up the music, you will get thru this.
9880688 tn?1414115647 but everytime he gets it ...well it is back to the hospital. This is ONE of my triggers. I have to do SO much in addition to being at the hospital practically non-stop. I don't want to even explain how many mistakes I've stopped from happening from my being at the hospital so much. My pastor has been calling daily to support me....and, as explained before, only 2 NA meetings in area per month. I need some extra support for aftercare right now. I don't plan on taking anything...
466909 tn?1207568232 I understand the concept of triggers... faces and places, but do people sell their homes??? do they actually move out of their current places??? and if we chose to not do this, will it really sabotage her ability to have a successful recovery??? Another issue is that she has a large dog, who is really her life... he is 7 years old. it took a long time to find a place that would allow dogs over 80 pounds.
Avatar f tn when detoxing what vitamins and supplements would help .

Avatar m tn I have a question about triggers. I have chronic sinus disease. when this flares up. That is when I revert back to Hydrocodone usage. It Blind sides me. How do you overcome triggers? We must all have them?
Avatar f tn m not sure for me if it triggers my own thoughts of what I went through but it makes me sad more than anything. Makes me feel like there are no good men out there. Sorry guys, I'm not saying there aren't, I'm just saying how I feel. I certainly feel sorry for Tiger's wife and kids definitely but she's not alone to say the least. She will get through it, either with him or without him.
495284 tn?1333894042 Early in my recovery i was told to make a list of my triggers so i did. I still have that up on the refrig. I was just wondering what some of yours was and what you all do about it. I also have a list of all the things i am grateful for. The edges are worn as i have reached for that a time or two or 3...... Stress is my biggest trigger with my mother in close 2nd. When i am stressed i hit a meeting or i call a friend, i come on the forum and i listen to music.
662972 tn?1270166301 Hello and thanks for great comment on triggers and as I read your I realized that my mother is also a trigger for me and I to avoid her a lot also guess now I know why. I can remember back when I was taking xannax by time I left her house I had always taken one...... Well have a good day.
401095 tn?1351391770 I also figured out what my triggers were during that time, it was like they hit me full force. Maybe cos I was thinking clearly and able to actually feel something for a change. Realizing what they were, a major one being my x, helped me work through them. It is easier to stay clean when all is well...but stress and hard times seem to catch up with me from time to time. Guess it does with everyone, part of life.
Avatar f tn He told us that his dysfunctional gallbladder is what is most likely causing his triglycerides to get so high, which then triggers pancreatitis.

All other test are normal. The pancreatic specialist did not mention pancreatitis at the time and only prescribed nexium and sulcrafate for the gastritis. I am 67, and never had a previous bout with pancreatitis. Moderate beer drinker. How should I be treated?
