Avatar m tn Alternatively, maybe you could consult with a herbal or holistic vet, if you can find one near you or within driving distance. It is possible there may be treatment options....
Avatar f tn Hi, understand your concern. With pancreatitis usually the lipase and amylase values are increased many folds. And if chronic the imaging studies will usually show pancreatic fibrosis. In the absence of these findings its unlikely that you have chronic pancreatitis. The other causes for the pain could be infections of the bowel and bladder, prolapsed intervertebral disc or inflammatory diseases of the colon. So, if your symptoms persist discuss these options with your doctor. Regards.
Avatar f tn t start treatment with a medication that can cause pancreatitis while you have pancreatitis. I bet any doctor would tell you that. Epclusa includes sofosbuvir which lists "pancreatitis" as a possible side effect. Here's a study that says.... "There were 7 grade 3 events including anemia, neutropenia, nausea, hypophosphatemia, and cholelithiasis or pancreatitis." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar m tn Today I saw my doctor who was quite refreshed from rest at home. He recommended two treatment options, one is injection once a week and the other is baraclude by mouth once daily. Because the former has side effects that may cause me (the bread earner of my family) to stop working, I immediately chose the latter, which costs $2200 per 90 days. Would appreciate your sharing your experience if you have used baraclude before. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I am undergoing treatment for pancreatitis, I am 29 yrs old and not an alcoholic. What precautions I should take while undergoing treatment ? what are the chances of recovering from this disease?
Avatar f tn If your dog was only diagnosed with pancreatitis four days ago she shouldn't be on food yet. The treatment for pancreatitis is to keep the dog on IV fluids ONLY for one week so that the pancreas can have TOTAL rest and not have to produce enzymes to digest anything. If you try to rush this healing procedure you will not have a favorable outcome.

Research goals are to find a different treatment than interferon but that is probably many years away. If patient tested positive to antibodies for HCV but a PCR test to detect RNA of the virus in the blood comes back negative, no treatment is necessary.

1453931 tn?1285185353 It is really frustrating not knowing the cause of the disease is and majority of the treatment options do not apply to me yet. I am scared because I was told that sooner or later the pancreas will not work anymore due to the stricture. So now it's just a waiting game. Have you heard any updates on your health?

Avatar f tn Ajcauff, unfortunately at the current time there are few options for the treatment of SOD. If you had and ERCP with manometry done and the readings were high, then the sphincterotomy was probably the best thing that could have been done. Typically, after this, the area is stented to help prevent pancreatitis, but the whole procedure does not guarantee that the condition might not return.
