pancreatitis

422425 tn?1307992990 I have been searching on the net for information about Autoimmune Pancreatitis. I was diagnosed with this disease in July of 2007. My doctors were sure I had cancer because I had a mass the size of a golf ball on the tail of my pancreas. I also have masses in my kidneys. I was very relieved to find out it was NOT cancer, but an autoimmune respose to something. My question is.....has anyone else in this community been told they have this, and did the treatment work for you.
750120 tn?1252455030 One is to discontinue treatment and the other is to delay treatment until the pancreatitis has cleared up then start again slowly. Blood work they took today will determine the course of action they choose. The pancreatitis is extremely painful but morphine is extremely effective (smiling).
Avatar n tn Within the last two years she has been diagnosed with kidney stones, anemia, pancreatitis, hypokalemia, mixed connective tissue disease, asthma, raynauds disease, mono, bronchitis, pleurisy, pericarditis, chostochondritis, uti's, kidney infections...She has had a fever for weeks...The drs say her potassium is dangerously low and they've given her multiple IV's with potassium, but it hasn't helped make any improvements.
Avatar f tn Ask your doctor to do a blood test for amylase & lipase levels.
Avatar f tn t start treatment with a medication that can cause pancreatitis while you have pancreatitis. I bet any doctor would tell you that. Epclusa includes sofosbuvir which lists "pancreatitis" as a possible side effect. Here's a study that says.... "There were 7 grade 3 events including anemia, neutropenia, nausea, hypophosphatemia, and cholelithiasis or pancreatitis." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar n tn I am undergoing treatment for pancreatitis, I am 29 yrs old and not an alcoholic. What precautions I should take while undergoing treatment ? what are the chances of recovering from this disease?
Avatar f tn If you can get in to see a doctor, you should. It could be many different things. Could be gas, indigestion, acute pancreatitis, or a few other things. I'd skip the general practitioner and try to go straight to a GI. They will probably run blood tests at first. Hopefully that will help figure out the exact cause.
Avatar n tn Can a person develop chronic pancreatitis after having acute pancreatitis that resulted from having an ERCP? I have developed abdominal pain that radiates to my side and back that is relieved when I lean forward and worsens when I lean back. No nausea or vomiting, no fever. Should I follow up with my doctor? I had the acute pancreatitis around 2004. Thanks for your response.
Avatar m tn I'm 58, male and I have diverticulosis, first diagnosed 1-1/2 yrs ago. Since then, I have had about three attacks. These were treated with antibiotics and I have learned what I can and can't eat. I'm controlling it. After the last attack, my GI doc sent me for CT Scan w/contrast of abdominal/pelvic area. Unexpectedly, a 6.5mm lesion was detected on the pancreas. I was supposed to have an endosonography this past Sunday.
Avatar n tn I have had what my gastroenterologist calls mild pancreatitis several times in the last few years. What can I do to prevent the pancreatitis from re-occurring? Is there a specific diet? My doctor just says, "bed rest, lots of fluids, a light diet." I'm not sure what "a light diet" means. Since I already eat light (6 VERY small meals a day - due to my many intestinal surgeries), I don't know what more I can do.
Avatar n tn I went home and that night took my temp 99.4 and thought that was a fever. They set me up for a ct scan and told me I had pancreatitis? I went to norwood urgent care and they hooked me to a IV and that was that . I have not had any pain or vominting, lost weight becausebof liquid diet and anxiety. Can someone please tell me if this will happen again or if I should do a follow up with a GI specialist???
Avatar m tn It seems like everytime that I drink acouple beers the next day I wake up with a pain in my stomach and a low grade fever. I went to my GI doctor and had a endoscopy and he said, beside the Barett's Esophagus and hiatal hernia that he knew about everything looked normal. He said, maybe the pain was Celiac disease or even Pancreatitis. He said, I would need to get blood work to check this out.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pancreatitis and also at the same time my knee replacement that was 15 months old became infected and I'm just wondering if they are tied together.
Avatar n tn What causes vomiting light green bile, stomach and back pain, having no fever? ER doctors don't seem to know. CT scans and x-rays are unremarkable.
Avatar m tn For the last few months I have had a constant gnawing achy feeling in the pit of my stomach. I have had labs for liver enzymes all normal, cholesterol all normal (trigs are 224 non fasting), all CMP labs within normal range. I had a complete abdominal ultrasound which was completely normal, (unable to view pancreas due to bowel gas). My doctor started me on kapidex which caused the symptoms to get worse. Dr says it's GERD, but it just constantly aches in the upper quadrants both of them.
Avatar n tn MY DAUGHTER IS HAVING RECURRENT STROKES OF ACUTE PANCREATITIS. NOW SHE IS 12 YEARS OLD AND HAVING THE PROBLEM FOR LAST 2 YRS. THE ATTACKS HAVE LESSEND A BIT THIS YEAR IN TERMS OF RECURRANCES. SHE HAS BEEN ADVISED SONOGRAPHY REPEATEDLY BUT GENERALLY EVERY TIME ONLY A BULGE IN THE TAIL OF PANCREAS IS FOUND. ERCP HAS BEEN DONE AND THE DUCTS ARE NOT DILATED. SO SCHRINTOMY WAS NOT POSSIBLE. PLEASE SUGGEST TREATMENT AND WHETHER AT ALL THIS IS CURABLE.
Avatar f tn With repeated bouts of acute pancreatitis, damage to the pancreas can occur and lead to chronic pancreatitis. Scar tissue may form in the pancreas, causing loss of function. A poorly functioning pancreas can cause digestion problems and diabetes.
701334 tn?1262853503 2 times now i have also started feeling sick, started a low grade fever, chills,,,and with that...i developed severe abdominal pain, with severe watery diahrea.,,,hurt even to touch my belly, went to hospital,,and had these tests done.. 2 ct scans with barrium and iodine contrast. full blood panel amalayes/lipase infection stool no gullstones/no hiatal hernia no enlargments of any organs. they gave me fluids/pain medecine shot, and sent me home,,i was better in 1 days time....and diahrea stopped.
Avatar m tn Gastric Bypass surgery in 2014 and Gallbladder removal in 1990 In January, I went to the ER for abdominal pain, nausea and slight fever. Liver enzymes were highly elevated. Normal lipase/amylase and ultrasound and X-rays came back normal. Only thing noted was a 10mm calcification on right hepatic. Went to GI who ordered MRCP and that came back with 'possible' common bile duct obstruction. During the time I waited for ERCP double balloon, my liver enzymes went back up.
Avatar n tn I had to put my 11 year old Llhasa apso to sleep yesterday because he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and was in so much pain that they could not guarantee that he would survive even with treatment. It came on suddenly...he was fine Saturday but began throwing up in the middle of the night and continued...he couldn't even hold down water and was very weak. I took him into the veterinary hospital on Sunday and he was too weak to come home.
Avatar f tn Pancreatitis will be unlikely given the normal CT scan as well as normal amylase and lipase levels. I would consider looking at various causes of upper GI disease, including an ulcer, inflammation of the stomach and esophagus, or GERD. An upper endoscopy would be the next recommended test, and can be discussed with your personal physician. Avatar n tn Again, his history was that his gallbladder had stopped working (no sludge in it and no stones in it), had surgery a week later liver enzymes went up and rash and fever started, a few days later pancreatitis started, rash started getting better but now has started to come back. Once we are home, we are several hours away from a medical facility. The gastro Dr thinks this was all due to a stone that passed before the ERCP.
Avatar n tn The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal. The pancreatic specialist did not mention pancreatitis at the time and only prescribed nexium and sulcrafate for the gastritis. I am 67, and never had a previous bout with pancreatitis. Moderate beer drinker. How should I be treated?
Avatar n tn Hey all, i'm 21 years old and about a month + ago I was diagnosed with pancreatitis. I had my first attack - a really high fever with stomach pain - that had me in the hospital for about 3 days. After being discharged and going back to food, I had the same fever (no stomach pain this time around) 2 days later and that ended up with me sitting in the hospital for a month without food or water.
Avatar f tn How long can someone live (approx) with Chronic Pancreatitis when they are a heavy drinker? I have a family member that was Diagnosed with this and continues to drink heavy! He has had many attacks! This last time they wanted to place him in ICU but he checked him self out against Medical advise! If he continues to drink like this what will happen to him? Worried!!!
Avatar f tn Correction: Gall bladder pancreatitis should be gall stone pancreatitis
