pancreatitis

1807187 tn?1316861276 Ajeet, you should take the MRCP test. Talk to your doctor about the exact diagnosis and what you should be doing with diet and the enzymes. And if you haven't had the MRCP test yet, it sounds like they haven't finished testing for what the cause is and they may not have a diagnosis at this time. Without that, it's hard to make any suggestions. For now, ask your doctor to tell you the foods you should and shouldn't eat, and take the enzymes.
Avatar f tn t start treatment with a medication that can cause pancreatitis while you have pancreatitis. I bet any doctor would tell you that. Epclusa includes sofosbuvir which lists "pancreatitis" as a possible side effect. Here's a study that says.... "There were 7 grade 3 events including anemia, neutropenia, nausea, hypophosphatemia, and cholelithiasis or pancreatitis." https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.
Avatar f tn I am a 60 year old female who was diagnosed in the late 80s with acute pancreatitis and still have sporadic trouble today in 2014. A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with hcv and was wondering what effects I would have with the two diseases together, for instance if given treatment for my hep-c will it make my pancreas worse or will I even be able to do the hcv treatment at all?

Avatar f tn Hi there I get regular coldsores, often just before my period, but lately more regularly and in more places around my mouth. I know about Lysine but notice no difference when I do and don't take it. I try to have turmeric regularly also. Oh and I use 5% Acliclover Cream (ie Zovirax). I can get 500mg Valacliclover Tablets but they're a bit out of my budget to take daily and I don't want to damage my kidneys.
1674610 tn?1317002220 There is a 'standard' form of treatment to try to stabilize anyone experiencing pancreatitis. If your doc puts you in the hospital, the inital treatment will be to help control the inflammation. They'd start treatment off with fasting. You'll stop eating for a couple of days in order to give your pancreas a chance to recover. Once the inflammation in the pancreas is controlled, they'd start you on drinking clear liquids and eating bland foods.
Avatar n tn Has she been checked for autoimmune pancreatitis? What are they attributing the bulge in the pancreas to?
750120 tn?1252455030 One is to discontinue treatment and the other is to delay treatment until the pancreatitis has cleared up then start again slowly. Blood work they took today will determine the course of action they choose. The pancreatitis is extremely painful but morphine is extremely effective (smiling).
Avatar n tn Trouble was I had a really bad Nicorette habit. Low and behold I have chronic pancreatitis and if I chew the gum--the pancreatic pain skyrockets. I would say "YES" Nicorette either causes, triggers, or aggrevates pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn I had to put my 11 year old Llhasa apso to sleep yesterday because he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and was in so much pain that they could not guarantee that he would survive even with treatment. It came on suddenly...he was fine Saturday but began throwing up in the middle of the night and continued...he couldn't even hold down water and was very weak. I took him into the veterinary hospital on Sunday and he was too weak to come home.
Avatar n tn Since all your lab works and imaging studies are otherwise normal and you never had any bout of pancreatitis before, a wait and watch policy is likely to be the best course of action for you. Also, the risk of surgery to pancreas is high, so since the side branch lesions are usually harmless, a wait and watch policy is adopted for most lesions less than 3 cm which do not cause dilatation of the main pancreatic duct nor have a solid mass or nodule within them.
Avatar f tn t been hospitalized if your pancreatic enzymes in your blood tests showed your pancreas is inflamed. The only treatment for it is to be on IVs and nothing by mouth until it heals. That can only be done in the hospital. I had pancreatitis and was hospitalized for 8 days before the enzymes were low enough for me to leave. They did stay just above normal for two more weeks. Perhaps your enzyme level isn't high enough to require treatment yet.
Avatar f tn Once they realized the severity of my condition they said if I had waited even 24 before getting treatment I could have died. I was there for 10 days. I spent my 30th Birthday and Thanksgiving in that hospital. I couldn't eat or drink anything for 8 of those 10 days. When I got out I was put on a low fat diet. Tricor to lower my Triglycerides and Metformin to Control my Diabetes. I went through extreme frustration and felt overwhelmed and at times I still do.
Avatar f tn Correction: Gall bladder pancreatitis should be gall stone pancreatitis
Avatar m tn I agree 100% with Ginger, it sounds like an attack of pancreatitis to me. The normal treatment for pancreatitis is one week of hospitalization on NOTHING but IV fluids, not even water to drink, to give the pancreas TOTAL REST. After the week is up, they start slowly introducing very bland food. Any time a dog is fed human food there is the risk of them developing pancreatitis, and even one meal can be enough to cause it.
Avatar f tn It's possible you have chronic pancreatitis instead of acute- that condition can lead to diabetes and does require more treatment. I'd go for a follow up or get a second opinion to make sure that they are addressing this- it might not be chronic, but it's worth another check in if you are still experiencing pain.
Avatar f tn During the last episode I went to the hospital and was diagnosed with pancreatitis and they found gallstones. The gastroenterologists on staff unanimously recommended removal of the gallbladder. In reviewing a number of PubMed articles it appears that an alternative might be Gallstone dissolution therapy using Ursodiol. The Physicians at the hospital could/would not tell me the size of the gallstones, nor did they know whether they were cholesterol based.
Avatar f tn Hello Everyone, My Wiz had a dental/extraction and ultrasound today. The us showed significant kidney changes… as well as an enlarged or hardened pancreatic node I think. We are putting him on a bp med and maybe some chinese herbs eventually. One of his kidney values was very mildly elevated so I wanted to do the ultrasound and he has had vomiting on and off… it seemed to be hairball related, I treated that and it seems to help and sometimes food related.
Avatar n tn Does the duct dilatation set off an inflamation of the liver and pancreas and cause the pancreatitis pain? Also can the duct dilatation heal on its own in time? I have no desire to undergo an ERCP as I've heard such nightmare stories from people who have undergone but yet I'm so tired of not feeling good and having pain and just would like to feel good again. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn im now being directed to take a gastric emptying study which i already have had done a year ago and those results were normal..my question is...is here a link between pancreatitis and bile reflux? and if so, would it not be indicative of an obstruction (due to the minor dilation) of my pancreatic duct....is there any remedies or speculation around these test results?
Avatar f tn s Syndrome with fibromyalgia 7 months ago. Since that time I have been diagnised with chronic pancreatitis, gastroparesis and sarcoidosis. Is there a possibility that these diseases are related? She has attempted to treat the pancreatitis and the digestive issues but have yet to be treated in any way for the Sjogren's or the sarcoidosis. Is this proper protocol?
Avatar f tn Four days ago you didn't know basics about the risks for HIV, or about testing, and now you're a consultant answering other people's questions about HIV? This sounds less than credible. It sounds like you are worried about HIV-2 from your no-risk encounter. Any legitimate HIV education program has extensive training. If you are truly a part of that organization, they will have all of the information you need to provide advice.
Avatar n tn no evidence of masses or pancreatitis, the absence of the pancreatic body and tail, no pancreatic ductal dilation, difficulty in visualizing the pancreatic duct, and hypodense areas in both lobes of the liver. A previous ERCP showed pancreas divisum. Liver biopsies showed missing small bile ducts, but the ERCP showed normal major bile ducts. Could these CT results be the source of my daughter's chronic pain? Would an ERCP procedure to correct the pancreas divisum provide relief?
