pancreatitis

Avatar f tn Anyone else out there suffering from Chronic (and acute) pancreatitis and/or sphincter of Oddi dysfunction? Would love to chat about how to manage these disorders.
1453931 tn?1285185353 Sorry to hear about your pancreatitis. Just a question how did you know you had chronic pancreatitis? I had my GB removed just like you in 2008. I had a bile leak and when they preformed a ERCP I got acute pancreatitis. It is a risk associated with the ERCP. Anyway after my amylase and lipase went down to normal I was checked out of the hospital. However since then I have had horrible nocturnal abdominal pain and it also happens when on an empty stomach longer than 4 hours.
Avatar f tn It can trigger an attack of pancreatitis but is usually short lived. My mom has battled chronic pancreatitis (idopathic, non drinker) for over 4 years and is 30 days post whipple. Amylase and Lypase do not always show elevated levels even if having an attack. Get a good GI, one who specializes in diseases of the pancreas... not just a general GI. ERCP can show a lot, stents can be placed in ducts during procedure which can ease pain.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with Sjogrens two years ago but up until recently, I only experienced mild dry mouth and eyes and it was more of a nuisance than anythhing. Recently, my mouth is numb after eating just about anything and after speaking for long periods of time. Also it's worse at night. Plus, my submandibular salivary glands swell up and hurt. I'm also experiencing an increase in numbness in my extremeties. Is all this normal?
Avatar f tn ve ever had is a (drum roll please)...................CRAMP????? Hahahahaha, dipshit! All my symptoms point to Pancreatitis. I am going to my regular GI Doc on Tues, excited to maybe get some answers. I also "googled" the results of my Transvaginal Ultrasound, ha! I seem to have a "Complex" cyst on my left ovary. Those are the kind that have to be evaluated right away and removed, they are not good!
Avatar f tn Hi, understand your concern. With pancreatitis usually the lipase and amylase values are increased many folds. And if chronic the imaging studies will usually show pancreatic fibrosis. In the absence of these findings its unlikely that you have chronic pancreatitis. The other causes for the pain could be infections of the bowel and bladder, prolapsed intervertebral disc or inflammatory diseases of the colon. So, if your symptoms persist discuss these options with your doctor. Regards.
1126279 tn?1311895042 Im wondering if you can really live without your pancreas?I have chronic pancreatitis and I take pancreas mt20 which helped a great deal but now it is getting to the point where its not working...Does this mean that there is no hope ? Or maybe my doctor needs to perscribe higher dose if possible?I am in pain but it is not great.Im eating chicken noodle soup everyday plus a multivitamin.Im dizzy and I have diarrhea.Im wondering why arent my enzymes working anymore.
Avatar m tn ve avoided all carbs and sugar on the advice of dr google, I started to suspect it could be Pancreatitis as a side effect of the hand foot mouth virus. This diet seems to help, I barely feel the pain now, it comes and goes. I have also been peeing a lot, but I've been drinking a lot of water. Not necessarily because I'm super thirsty, but when I'm not feeling well, I try to drink a lot of water.
Avatar n tn My husband was diagnosed with Chronic Pancreatitis. He had a 1.4 cm lesion in the tail of his pancreas. After a fine need biopsy it was decided that the "lesion" was non-cancerous and just needed to be watched. Now, 4 months later the "lesion" is 3.4 cm. We went to the Mayo clinic for a second opinion and they are saying it is a tumor, most like malignant. This diagnosis by the Mayo Clinic is based only on a CT scan.
Avatar f tn My chocolate lab "Skip" is about 10 years old and developed pancreatitis for the first time. We took him to the doctor he never vomited or diahrea until the day after he got to the vets office. His amalyse was high like 8000 and his glucose and white blood count low but we got an ultrasound to make sure not cancer. He started to show improvements with the IV and antibiotic. Now a week later he is starting to decline and the vet has tried everything.
Avatar m tn My cat was DX w pancreatitius & met all symptoms for a few weeks / the meds worked but it got bad. Then a big turn happened. He started eating & now won't stop! His constant meowing is driving me crazy.he lost weight whwhen really sick. He is still underweight but why does he demand food 24/7? I'm so stressed out I can't think straight. Upset too if his DX was wrong we spent so much $$ on labs/meds. Now I'm not sure/don't think he has it! Help.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you first for listening. As I am sure any of you who have been very ill, know how frustrating it is to get anyone to listen to you when you are having trouble getting a diagnosis for an illness that is making you extremely sick. I have been sick for 20 yrs. with NO diagnosis. I have "episodes" a few times a year where I cannot stop vomitting.
Avatar f tn I know its right behind the stomach on the left, and I heard that after having gall stones that cause pancreatitis, it could damage the pancreas. My surgeon had said that every time I had my gall stone attacks, the pain was mostly caused by the pacreatits because of the blocked bile duct. Could this have caused permanent damage to my pancreas? If so, what could I do?
Avatar n tn I have read that gallbladder surgery is dangerous in the presence of pancreatitis and that the pancreatitis can also cause gallbladder disease or vice versa. Anyone had similar question?
1727909 tn?1314845210 I'm having gallbladder pain and symptoms- has anyone gained weight after the surgery? And what is it about GB removal that makes you gain weight?
Avatar f tn His doctor could not find a reason for his pain until this summer when the pain got so bad he went into the emergency room and was diagnosed with pancreatitis. At that time gallstones were found so 2 weeks later his gallbladder was removed. He had some short lived relief for about 2 weeks then the pain returned and the nausea and vomiting continued. He was hospitalized again with pancreatitis and is now home on pain meds with no relief of the symptoms.
Avatar f tn Last year was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Am again suffering from similiar symptoms. Hospital told me not to eat till I saw family doctor. He told me not to eat for 3 days, drink water only. Symptoms got better starting eating carbs after that. 8months later and similiar symptoms, fatigue, bloating. Shall I assume the liquid diet for a few days? Not sure what the doctor or hospital will do other than tell me that and don't want to waste 12 hours in the ER again, let alone the cost.
Avatar n tn The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal. The pancreatic specialist did not mention pancreatitis at the time and only prescribed nexium and sulcrafate for the gastritis. I am 67, and never had a previous bout with pancreatitis. Moderate beer drinker. How should I be treated?
Avatar f tn You may have chronic pancreatitis. Find a biliary specialist soon. You should get testing to determine if you have this or not. If you do they will advise you what to do to help.
Avatar n tn I had my first attack of acute pancreatitis last week. It was a mild attack. I spent a couple of days in the hospital on IV. I'm feeling much better and haven't had another painful attack. However, I still seem to have soreness on my left side, but not in the same location as the pancreatitis pain. My stomach is also still bloated. My attack was 5 days ago. My question is; is it normal to have some residual soreness after acute pancreatitis?
Avatar f tn //www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pancreatitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20360227 It's my understanding that sometimes in severe scaring cases they will do surgery or use nerve blocks to help. But more information would be beneficial for more discussion.
