Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis symptoms electrolytes

pancreatitis

Avatar m tn I'm wondering if her symptoms could be caused by an attack of Pancreatitis...? Inflammation of the Pancreas is very painful (i.e. her shaking) and most often causes vomiting. It is confirmed by blood tests showing elevated amylase and/or lipase levels, along with a new serum test called canine pancreatitis lipase immuninol reactivity and TAP (Trypsinogen Activation Peptide).
Avatar m tn Doc called me back on some blood work, specifically Electrolytes and said that they were a little high in the kidney and liver, 120 (where the reference range was 117.) He want's to test again in a month, didn't seem to worried and now am wondering if I should be worried? I also came back slightly Thyroid hyperactive. I was hypo then stopped doing the meds for over two months. Doc thinks it could be an infection that cause me to go hypo then hyper.
527657 tn?1214051850 I do know that milk provides a bunch of electrolytes, so you should drink that, if you can. And the B vitamins in the multi restores the ones eaten up by alcohol. Just eat a bunch of good food, get plenty of exercise in the fresh air, and do relaxing things before bedtime, like a very warm soakie bath by candlelight, so you'll get a good night's sleep. Also, get enough protein and omega-3s, eggs are the best thing in the world for that.
Avatar m tn should I worry about flushing out electrolytes? what other sources contain them ? I dont like gatorade uuhhhh !! I also have 1 soda ,8 ozs of juice & 1 or 2 teas per day .what do you think folks ?
Avatar n tn My baby poodle started with a swollen stomach. He had been having diareha also. He is now at the hospial in critical condition. They said that he should needs to have a blood transfusion today. He was given plasma all night last night. But they said that he is not doing good at all and that now his electrolites are low. I am really worried about him. I do not want him to die. Can you please tell me if the swollen stomach and diareaha are from this? i DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO.
Avatar f tn ve ever had is a (drum roll please)...................CRAMP????? Hahahahaha, dipshit! All my symptoms point to Pancreatitis. I am going to my regular GI Doc on Tues, excited to maybe get some answers. I also "googled" the results of my Transvaginal Ultrasound, ha! I seem to have a "Complex" cyst on my left ovary. Those are the kind that have to be evaluated right away and removed, they are not good!
Avatar n tn Please take your cat to the vet ASAP. A distended abdomen could signify many things, such as a urinary blockage, pancreatitis, Gastrointestinal foreign body or more. These can be medical emergencies, and are also quite painful. Cats who are anorexic and who don't eat for ANY reason can develop hepatic lipidosis (fatty liver disease) which can be life threatening on it's own.
Avatar n tn s for 4 yrs It began when my husband was dying.I spent 4 days in the hospital with electrolytes out of balance due to dehydration from uncontrollable diahrrea and vomiting; diagnosed as Acute Gastroenteritis. A year ago I began having intermittent bouts of vomiting bile every few months. Have been on all PPI's and Acid Reflux controlled pretty well but still have vomiting episodes. What's your recommendation?
Avatar m tn For this you need to take probiotics to replace these bacteria. Also, symptoms of IBS are usually triggered by an infection of the bowel, so the persisting diarrhea could be due to this. So, for now, drink plenty of oral fluids to replace the lost amounts in your stools, water, broths and soups as they help to replace the electrolytes. Take yogurt with your meals. Avoid caffeine, foods high in fiber and milk products. Slowly add soft well cooked food and if tolerated proceed to normal diet.
Avatar f tn Quick intro: My dog is 17 1/2 (old I know), and last year he had a bad pancreatitis attack that led to kidney failure. After being put on IV fluids for 3 days, he got much better and the kidney failure actually went away. However the same thing happened yet again a week ago.
Avatar f tn These high levels indicate problems with your pancreas or pancreatitis. The symptoms you are having are all symptoms of a pancreas issue. I am suprised she did not admit you to the hospital with high levels. Eat a very lowfat diet with no smoking or alcohol . These things aggrevate your pancreas. Pancreatitis in a young adult is not very common so they are looking into what is causing it. A lot of times pancreatitis is caused by drinking excessively for a long time.
Avatar m tn t tell you what is wrong with her, but it could be many things including Parvo, pancreatitis, havng eaten something which has violently disagreed with her, or something toxic for dogs, or it may be just a bad tummy-bug that has got a bit out of hand. Whatever it is, you should take her to an emergency vet as soon as you can.
Avatar f tn Hi, understand your concern. With pancreatitis usually the lipase and amylase values are increased many folds. And if chronic the imaging studies will usually show pancreatic fibrosis. In the absence of these findings its unlikely that you have chronic pancreatitis. The other causes for the pain could be infections of the bowel and bladder, prolapsed intervertebral disc or inflammatory diseases of the colon. So, if your symptoms persist discuss these options with your doctor. Regards.
Avatar m tn ve avoided all carbs and sugar on the advice of dr google, I started to suspect it could be Pancreatitis as a side effect of the hand foot mouth virus. This diet seems to help, I barely feel the pain now, it comes and goes. I have also been peeing a lot, but I've been drinking a lot of water. Not necessarily because I'm super thirsty, but when I'm not feeling well, I try to drink a lot of water.
Avatar n tn just wanted to know if this would be bad enough to go to the doctors but my symptoms are 100 fever, stiff neck, dry skin rashes on the sides of my neck and sore throat
Avatar f tn My chocolate lab "Skip" is about 10 years old and developed pancreatitis for the first time. We took him to the doctor he never vomited or diahrea until the day after he got to the vets office. His amalyse was high like 8000 and his glucose and white blood count low but we got an ultrasound to make sure not cancer. He started to show improvements with the IV and antibiotic. Now a week later he is starting to decline and the vet has tried everything.
Avatar m tn My cat was DX w pancreatitius & met all symptoms for a few weeks / the meds worked but it got bad. Then a big turn happened. He started eating & now won't stop! Avatar n tn I have read that gallbladder surgery is dangerous in the presence of pancreatitis and that the pancreatitis can also cause gallbladder disease or vice versa. Anyone had similar question?
1727909 tn?1314845210 I'm having gallbladder pain and symptoms- has anyone gained weight after the surgery? And what is it about GB removal that makes you gain weight?
Avatar f tn Last year was diagnosed with pancreatitis. Am again suffering from similiar symptoms. Hospital told me not to eat till I saw family doctor. He told me not to eat for 3 days, drink water only. Symptoms got better starting eating carbs after that. 8months later and similiar symptoms, fatigue, bloating. Shall I assume the liquid diet for a few days? Not sure what the doctor or hospital will do other than tell me that and don't want to waste 12 hours in the ER again, let alone the cost.
Avatar n tn The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal. The pancreatic specialist did not mention pancreatitis at the time and only prescribed nexium and sulcrafate for the gastritis. I am 67, and never had a previous bout with pancreatitis. Moderate beer drinker. How should I be treated?
Avatar f tn You may have chronic pancreatitis. Find a biliary specialist soon. You should get testing to determine if you have this or not. If you do they will advise you what to do to help.
Avatar n tn I had my first attack of acute pancreatitis last week. It was a mild attack. I spent a couple of days in the hospital on IV. I'm feeling much better and haven't had another painful attack. However, I still seem to have soreness on my left side, but not in the same location as the pancreatitis pain. My stomach is also still bloated. My attack was 5 days ago. My question is; is it normal to have some residual soreness after acute pancreatitis?
Avatar f tn //www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/pancreatitis/symptoms-causes/syc-20360227 It's my understanding that sometimes in severe scaring cases they will do surgery or use nerve blocks to help. But more information would be beneficial for more discussion.
Avatar m tn s because my energy feels so low--- even after a full week of complete rest, my severe fatigue and nausea grow worse and I feel lightheaded and disconnected all the time. I feel extremely bad, main symptoms being severe fatigue, a knot in my upper stomach, nausea...I am able to eat, but food doesn't seem appealing yet at the same time i feel like I need more of it due to my low energy.
Avatar m tn m not a big drinker, and in fact have had no alcohol (or any other vice) for probably 5 months in effort to lose weight. The symptoms are making me think chronic pancreatitis based on what I have read though I have had no symptoms like this prior to the initial event. Over the course of a few months, the symptoms do not seem to be worsening, which is good, but also not getting better.
