Avatar m tn So he doesnt think that its Chronic Pancreatitis but feels its acid pain. Now my pain is on and off. When I eat oily or spicy food it recurs with mild to moderate pain.
Avatar m tn Online, I found that I have classic pancreatitis symptoms, extreme pain in upper stomach that bores into my back, radiates to my sides, causes pressure in upper stomach, chest pain, rapid pulse, fatigue, gaseousness, headache. Does anyone know if my heart medication could cause my other symptoms. This has been going on since mid June, and is life disrupting. I have a healthy diet, no known food allergies, very little alcohol or caffeine consumption.
455835 tn?1206015381 Spasms of the common bile duct or the opening to the duodenum (sphincter of Oddi) can cause a backup of bile and pancreatic juices and that can result in pancreatitis. Has he been rechecked for on-going problems with pancreatitis and have the monitored his liver enzymes and pancreatic enzymes? When they did the scopes, what did the reports say about what the biopsies of the duodenum showed? Inflammatory patterns can result from more sources than just acidity from the stomach.
Avatar f tn She was in serious pain before her ercp. She had pancreatitis for about 2 weeks before the procedure. After the procedure she was pain free, not even a tylenol needed. The doctor said she had narrow bile ducts and a cyst on her common bile duct. Has anyone experience this? 1 week later she is smytom free with no pain. 5 years ago she was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis, but could not take any med for the disease because any med gave her pancreatitis.
Avatar m tn As you have already mentioned, the MRCP found inflammation in your pancreas. This is none other than pancreatitis, not cancer. If the inflammation of the pancreas is severe, it takes weeks, sometimes more than a month, for the patient to recover. So I'm not surprised that your amylase and lipase levels are still elevated three weeks after the initial diagnosis. With proper treatment, the pancreatitis will resolve and you'll get better. Stay positive.
Avatar m tn Doctors had no answer for why he then had all the symptoms of chronic pancreatitis. His inflammation levels were now normal even though he continued having pain. End of last year he was admitted to hospital again. His pain was very bad, but the 'normal' version of severe pain - not as extreme as when he first was admitted. However, his doctor felt this episode of severe pain had persisted for too long. Many tests were run in hospital.
Avatar m tn Ca 19-9 can also be elevated in conditions like gallstones, cirrhosis, pancreatitis and cholecystitis.Other tests used for diagnosing pancreatic cancer are CT scan/MRI, ERCP and percutaneous needle biopsy. Any test result has to be correlated clinically. If you are still in doubt get your doubts clarified after consulting your doctor. Hope it helps. Best luck and regards!
Avatar n tn t know how she got it. Ever since the pancreatitis she has been in pain just about every day (and missing quite a bit of school). It doesn't seem to make a difference as to the types of food she eats. She has tried going without milk for 4-5 days and without wheat for about a week. She was tested for food allergies also, which came back negative. The most pain she has is in her abdomen area, running horizontally from side to side and it is tender to press on.
Avatar f tn The smell also changes based on what I eat. I was diagnosed with inflammation, which is what pancreatitis is. Sugar most definitely makes it worse.
Avatar n tn Door, autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) is an unusual form of pancreatitis that has only recently been recognized as a distinct disorder. AIP is an unusual form of chronic pancreatitis. The immune system mistakenly attacks healthy pancreas tissue, causing inflammation and hardening. Symptoms closely mimic pancreatic cancer (pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma), but the disease process is different. It can be a multisystem disorder in which the disease can affect other parts of the body.
Avatar f tn I am a 34 year old female. I had my gallbladder removed over a year ago. One week after it was removed, I began having abdominal pain in epigastric region that felt similar to a gallbladder attack. The pain has not gone away. I"ve had multiple test and 2 ERCP's. The pain is unrelenting and hurts through to my back. It wakes me all hours of night sometimes. After first ERCP, the pain went away for two months but returned last month.
1453931 tn?1285185353 t done. Anyway there was some inflammation but they said that was normal and it would go away. My pain has never gone away. It only happens while I'm sleeping and if my stomach is empty more than four hours. Do you have any nocturnal symptoms?
Avatar m tn The low iron and high inflammation could both be due to gastritis, duodenitis issues. The 'itis' goes with inflammation and if there is any bleeding going on with it, that could affect iron levels. Hope this helps.
Avatar f tn My son is 10 years old. He was diagnosed with acute pancreatitis on March 7. Follow up CT showed less inflammation of the pancreas. An MRCP was normal. Through all of this, his lipase and amylase are still very elevated. They have decreased some since his hospitalization, but they are far from normal (last blood work had lipase at 14 times normal and amylase was 4 times normal). He does not have any pain. He is eating an extremely low fat diet and has restrictions on his activites.
Avatar f tn He had a cholecystectomy about 7 years ago so not a gallbladder problem, he has had pancreatitis in the past (2x), last time he was in so much pain he was admitted to the hospital and kept NPO for 4 days. He has never been a heavy drinker and he doesn't have a gall bladder so I'm not sure what could cause the pancreatitis. He has cut out all alcohol and fatty and sugary foods, but still no luck in pain relief.
Avatar f tn During a recent trip to Mexico, I came down with 'travelers diarrhea' - fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomitting, dehydration. Upon arriving back in the states, I was readmitted to the hospital due to elevated amylase and lipase. I didn't have the severe pancreatitis pain until later that night and then only one other bout two nights later. A CT scan, ERCP, and internal ultrasound were all normal and I was discharged after 5 days.
Avatar n tn Because of panniculitis ( fat inflammation) I am now investigating Cronic pancreatitis. I read an article associating pancreatitis with hyperparathyroidism and I would like to ask whether hyperparathyroidism can occur in persons who had thyroidectomy and whether there is any association with hyperparathyroidism with hyperthyroidism ( which I have) and and pancreatitis.
Avatar f tn My CA went from 43 the first time I was tested a yr prior to the abdominal pain, 37 the month prior to the abdominal pain to 66 when it turned out my lipase was elevaed. My lipase went down but remained slightly elevated for at least 2 wks (it has not been checked since), my CA 19 had gone down 10 points. I have had the following tests during the past year: CT scan, MRI, MRCP, EUS and another EUS 6 months later- all 100% clear.
Avatar f tn Been suffered almost 5 yrs.. Now the pain even more intense which require everyday inj to get rid the pain.. having the pain till having cold sweat.. I'm asian , chinese, lady, single, age 26yrs.. I hope u could help me..
Avatar m tn What makes the pain worse? Pain due to inflammation (appendicitis, diverticulitis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis) typically is aggravated by sneezing, coughing or any jarring motion. Patients with inflammation as the cause of their pain prefer to lie still. Pain that is accompanied by heartburns or nausea is often due to dyspepsia or GERD.
Avatar f tn My gall bladder was removed 25 yrs ago.I had abdominal pain 10 days ago. My Doctor think I have pancreatis. Blood test showed Lipase level was 1412 & Amylase was 273. Three days ago, I had my 2nd blood test done, Lipase down to 382 & Amylase down to 273. but both of them still within the high level range. What can bring Lipase & amylase down to normal. What kind of food I should avoid? Should I eat light for 3 more weeks?
Avatar n tn Since then, I have had continuing pain in my upper left side with inflammation of the small intestine. I am now on insulin and the pain and inflammation are now going away. Anyone with Type II DM experience this before? My doctor wants to test me for auto-immune diabetes.
Avatar n tn Having high pancreas enzymes means you have pancreatitis.....an inflammation of the pancreas which is usually caused by gallstones or by drinking too much alcohol. The pancreas secretes digestive enzymes into the small intestine. These enzymes help digest fats, proteins, and carbohydrates in food. Normally, digestive enzymes do not become active until they reach the small intestine, where they begin digesting food.
Avatar m tn If the enzymes are normal, then pancreatitis, duodenal ulcer, and uncontrolled inflammation in Crohn’s should be ruled out. Take a late night snack. Raise head end of bed. Take Omeprazole empty stomach in morning and an antacid gel at bedtime. Refrain from smoking, alcohol, fuzzy drinks and spicy food. Also, please consult your gastroenterologist to further manage Crohn’s. Take care!
