Avatar m tn Every morning I wake up with this pain in my stomach that goes through to my back. It seems to ease up when I get out of bed, but before that it feels like someone is sticking a knife threw me. Does anyone know what could be causing this. I take Nexium 40mg twice a day. Any help would be appreciated.
936335 tn?1246412231 I have pain in about ten minutes after I eat that causes severe pain. I keep a food journal to try to avoid different foods that causes the trigger. But the pain is so severe that is debilates me for the remainder of the day and causes severe back pain on the left side of my back near my spine. If I take whatever stomach medicine I am trying at the time, my enzymes to break the food down, and pain medicine then I can usually function pretty well without going into that severe pain.
Avatar n tn Lately the next day I have been feeling light on and off pain in my right side. I was wondering if it could possibly be my liver and due to the drinking. The pain is in my side and just a few inches above my hipbone..sort of where "love handles" would be. Sometimes I will feel it just a slight bit in my left side too and I MAY have felt a little twinge slightly higher and a little more towards my front but it may have been just my mind.
Avatar f tn Hi misha50- I have had the HIDA and a CT exam, which showed no abnormalities in my gallbladder. I had the HIDA at least 4 or 5 years ago though--should I have it again? (And the CT was last year.) I have been researching since yesterday, and I found something that sounds a lot like me: Chronic Pancreatitis. The reason I say that is because I also have a lot of pain in my chest and also underneath and around my right shoulder.
1453931 tn?1285185353 ve been on steroids to rule out autoimmune, taken pancreatic enzymes, low fat diet but I still keep getting pancreatic episodes - throwing up and in severe pain. My GI doctors think it is not that big of a deal but this whole thing is taking over my life. I have missed work because of the excruciating pain that would lasts for two days. It is really frustrating not knowing the cause of the disease is and majority of the treatment options do not apply to me yet.
Avatar f tn Treatment for acute pancreatitis People with acute pancreatitis are treated with IV fluids and pain medications in the hospital. In up to 25% of patients, the pancreatitis can be severe and patients may need to be admitted to an intensive care unit (ICU). In the ICU, the patient is closely watched because pancreatitis can damage the heart, lungs, or kidneys. Some cases of severe pancreatitis can result in death of pancreatic tissue.
Avatar n tn I have had a colonoscopy / endoscopy and ultrasound (did find 3 cyst on left ovary and 2 golf ball size on right), BUT no explanation or solution to severe pain in my right side. It is in the front and back of my body and to the point I cannot lay on my right side (which I usually sleep on) and is making me miserable. IF I go to the restroom it intensifies for a period and then just eases back into PRESSURE that makes me have nausea.
Avatar f tn I have a pain in between my ribs that just hurts. Doesnt feel like I have to throw up or use the bathroom just hurts. Also have a bad taste in my mouth. I only get it like once a month... any clues?
Avatar n tn Because the vet gave us muscle relaxants and rimadahl to give for pain management, his pancreatitis flared up again. Now he is in the hospital on intravenous fluids and pain med injections. I just want to know anyone's thoughts on this? I really believe if he didn't have problems with his neck, the pancreatitis would have been controllable. But b/c of his "slipped disk" in his neck steroids is usually the treatment, but he can't have steroids b/c of the pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn This is very frustrating since I know that there have had to be improvements and gains in the area of pancreatitis in the past 14 years! I just want to have the same chances that someone who has just been diagnosed with pancreatitis has now. I've been under maintainance medical care for the last 12 years, just treating the pain. I will investigate the autoimmune pancreatitis. I have an appointment on Jan 15th with a PA from the Dr's office I mentioned above.
Avatar f tn But yesterday I had a onset of severe pain to my upper abdoman in the middle. That came with the shakes, shortness of breath, dizziness, nausea and clammy feeling. This pain was definately 10/10 the only way to describe it was it was like contractions. I could hardly stand at one point and felt like I would pass out. I was rushed to A&E. They took a few tests. They all came back normal, except for my liver function which came back slightly abnormal.
Avatar m tn Well I/we know she has a drinking problem, she has started drinking again. She said she researched and drinking Red Wine does not hurt her Pancreatitis. In my feeble attempts of research I have not found anything that supports her thought process. What scares me is she was in a Coma for about 5 weeks and came real close to death for the first week or so, the doctors didn't think she was going to live.
Avatar f tn The highest lipase has been is double and ever since its usually 10-20 pts high. Sometimes I get this pain in my back, and when bad it goes to the far right. In the last yr this has gotten worse, I have loose stools often and the pain occurs more. Ive had 5 EUS all totally normal, no change. I have seen countless drs and finally I saw one of the best pancreas drs nationwide, and he suggested it could be minimal change recurrent mild attacks.
504535 tn?1210527032 My grandma had cancer of the pancreas. I hurt when I eat meat. Caffeine hurts me too. The pain is in my abdomen and all throughout my back. My stool is yellow during an attack of this pain. And my shoulders always hurt during these episodes. I have had many tests performed, including CT scans. Is pancreatitis elusive? Could it be evading tests?
Avatar n tn I have been having pain in my upper left quadrant of my abdomen and into my back around my rib cage for several years now. It will come and go but is very painful most of the time. I have had all kinds of tests including several CT abdominal scans over the years. On the last scan I had they read that I had an accessory spleen and that was never mentioned before. I also have bloating and major pain when I eat. My abdomen gets hard and feels very extended.
1481080 tn?1287590520 m reading say they place the stent at the same time as the Sphincterotomy, for the very reason of trying to avoid pancreatitis. I did end up in the hosp. overnight because of severe pain. But aside from feeling like a horse kicked me in the belly, I'm ok and eating a little. Won't the pancreatic duct scar over if it's not stented when he does the procedure? Also curious, has anyone had a jumping/flipping/painful/?? feeling in the area of the stent shortly after the procedure?
Avatar m tn It affected the tail of my pancreas and I have similar symptoms, such as pain in the left side under my ribs that radiates to the back, discomfort in my upper stomach and it hurts to lay down. I also have had problems for years with diarrhea right after a meal. When I had this 6 years ago I didn't know what it was but I would definitely have your doctor send you to have your pancreas enzyme levels checked. If they are elevated, you may have pancreatitis.
Avatar f tn I myself have been going through this pain. I just spent 6 days in the hospital with what they called panreatitis. I have the same pain it sounds like that ya'll have had. I had my gallbladder out in 1998 and have IBS and hyatial hernia and acid reflux. Now I am having to deal with this. I am also told that I am going to have to get the ERCP done because gallstones may be creating the problem. Also a big thing! CT Scans and MRI's do Not always show stones.
Avatar n tn A sphincterotomy was performed at this time (Sphincter of Oddi). At my 2 week surgical follow-up I had no pain whatsoever. Pain in the right upper quadrant developed within the next few weeks. I have now had the pain every day for over 4 months. It is not horrible, but it is annoying and distracting and diminishes my quality of life with my two little girls. The pain is sometimes burning, just under my rib cage. Sometimes it feels as if something is poking or stabbing me from deep inside.
Avatar f tn Ask your doctor to do a blood test for amylase & lipase levels.
Avatar f tn Yes - I suffer from chronic pancreatitis and had SOD. Back in 2006 I had SOD surgery. I also suffer from IBS. Also, one doctor thought I had gastroparesis because I had an abnormal emptying study last year, but I just returned from Mayo and the emptying study came back normal. Also, most recent doctor thought I had Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth and put me on Cipro for 8 days. Now I don't know if the pain is from my stomach/antibiotics or the pancreas.
