pancreatitis

Avatar f tn It sounds like SOD-Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction. That is what I was told I have. I have the same pain you refer to, but during a 'pain attack' I was able to get labs drawn and my liver functions were extremely high. It's frustrating..I take a muscle relaxer daily for my organs. The only way my pancreas doctor says he can fix my problem is to have an ERCP with the manmonetry (measures the pressure of your bile duct) and possibly place a stent in the duct if need be.
Avatar f tn I am a 34 year old female. I had my gallbladder removed over a year ago. One week after it was removed, I began having abdominal pain in epigastric region that felt similar to a gallbladder attack. The pain has not gone away. I"ve had multiple test and 2 ERCP's. The pain is unrelenting and hurts through to my back. It wakes me all hours of night sometimes. After first ERCP, the pain went away for two months but returned last month.
Avatar f tn t get me wrong - But my GI is talking about getting the ECRP done because my Lipase continues to be high I have minimal ab pain - but am also have crohns disease so I attribute every pain to that - I have had MUCH worse pains than now - I do have alot of back pain - and am taking pain meds for that at least twice a day What I don't understand is HOW can I have pancreatitis without the horrible pain I hear about associated with this? How is it possible ...
Avatar m tn Is it common for Pancreatitis to reoccur in people who have type 2 diabetis? I have pain in my upper stomach and am not sure if it's GERD or pancreatitis. This discussion is related to Upper stomach problems.
Avatar f tn So wondering if it is all connected to the really severe pain I had yesterday. I did take 10mg of morphine for lower cramps that morning, I did have slight pain to upper abdominal then, but it got worse after morphine, although the lower cramps got better. Thank you for any light shed on this, it is depressing me Please also note I have been suffering with on and off tummy troubles since I was about 14, I am now 30.
Avatar f tn The highest lipase has been is double and ever since its usually 10-20 pts high. Sometimes I get this pain in my back, and when bad it goes to the far right. In the last yr this has gotten worse, I have loose stools often and the pain occurs more. Ive had 5 EUS all totally normal, no change. I have seen countless drs and finally I saw one of the best pancreas drs nationwide, and he suggested it could be minimal change recurrent mild attacks.
Avatar f tn I have the pain back pretty bad again today so a little discouraged. I just thought I would write what I have learned to share with you all. I will let you know how it goes.
Avatar f tn 3 weeks on life support followed by two more operations for necrosis of colon due to adhesions from gynaecological surgery many years ago. I now have upper stomach pain, severe back pain at same level, fever, headaches and itching. Could this be pancreatitis?
Avatar n tn At first this seemed to help but lately seems to increase the burning sensation. I seem to feel some pain whether I take them or not so I have stopped taking them. I am also trying to eat a lowfat diet. Ice cream and bacon seem to be the only things that increase the pain, so I stay away from them. Any suggestions? Should I pursue more medical testing or get a second opinion?
Avatar f tn Yes - I suffer from chronic pancreatitis and had SOD. Back in 2006 I had SOD surgery. I also suffer from IBS. Also, one doctor thought I had gastroparesis because I had an abnormal emptying study last year, but I just returned from Mayo and the emptying study came back normal. Also, most recent doctor thought I had Small Intestine Bacterial Overgrowth and put me on Cipro for 8 days. Now I don't know if the pain is from my stomach/antibiotics or the pancreas.
Avatar n tn I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis on 10/14/08. I had never had it in my life. I am afraid this medicine has caused it. I have never ever picked up any type of drink other than diet pepsi and jucie. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am so scared and hurting.
Avatar n tn I have been fighting this pain for about ten years now. Have gone corn and gluten free which helped initially but now back to the same thing. Pain was getting worse and now had my gallbladder out. Now realize all along it has been my pancreas. Ended up in the ER with elevated amylase and lipase. I just recently had an MRCP and have some questions on the results.
Avatar f tn I have had this pain for a couple of years now. I had my gallbladder out, and then this pain started after. I didn't have gallstones, but I had pain symptoms that the drs figured must be gallbladder related. All my tests come back normal: CT scan, ultrasound, colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, etc. I have been on blood pressure medication and a pain blocker (amnitryptaline or elavil) to both relax the muscle and block the pain. It helps some for a little bit, but I still have pain most days.
Avatar n tn My 35 years old son had an upper stomach pain for 2 weeks and then a bruise showed up in the Upper left stomach side? upper stomach pain plus a bruise? what possible situation could be?
Avatar n tn I have chronic pancreatitis and occipital neuralgia. My old Dr gave me a standing script for vicoprofen to take when I get a pancreatic attack(along with my everyday maintenance meds). He no longer takes my ins. and I'm having trouble finding a Dr who even understands pancreatitis will give me my script. How can I prove I"m not an addict looking for a fix?? My conditions are very well documented....and every Dr agrees that there isnt anything else that can be done.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have been sick since Friday. I'm having lots of pain, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea but lately my lipase and amylase levels have been low. The doctor said my pancreas is sluggish and work like it should and this is why my blood levels are normal. Can anyone tell me if exocrine pancreatic insufficiency affects lipase and amylase levels during a pancreatitis flare up? Also has anyone ever had normal blood levels with pancreatitis?
Avatar n tn This was tested a few days after doing the scope and i was in severe pain at this time. after 1 week of taking the natural medicine I felt better then I did and didnt feel like it was so painfull as to go the hospital but still really bad. I also had more of a apetitite.
Avatar m tn A little back ground. Im 28 years old i smoke and have done so since i was 16 if not younger. I drink like a fish which i have immediately suspended with my latest bout of pancreatitus 3 days ago that continues to today. I'm also currently coming off xanax tapering off under a doctors care, i just got sick of needing a pill everyday. Could be irrelevant but it could explain me being overly anxious about this situation.
Avatar m tn So he doesnt think that its Chronic Pancreatitis but feels its acid pain. Now my pain is on and off. When I eat oily or spicy food it recurs with mild to moderate pain.
Avatar n tn I have had the same experience as you. I have had lots of problems since the ERCP induced Acute Pancreatitis. I've been told I now have Chronic Pancretitis....by a Dr. here and there...then I'm told I don't have Chronic Pancreatitis...then comes the "it's in your head" discussions or assumptions. I'm tired of Dr.'s thinking I dont know how I feel.
Avatar m tn It seems like everytime that I drink acouple beers the next day I wake up with a pain in my stomach and a low grade fever. I went to my GI doctor and had a endoscopy and he said, beside the Barett's Esophagus and hiatal hernia that he knew about everything looked normal. He said, maybe the pain was Celiac disease or even Pancreatitis. He said, I would need to get blood work to check this out.
Avatar n tn I had lived with Pancreatitis for 3 years before I found I doctor to remove my gallbladder. I seen a lot of Doctors that blamed it on everthing from alcohol to fatey foods. I knew it was not from what they were saying. I had every test done and they keep telling me my gallbladder was fine. My doctor left his practest and I went to his office and got my file and read it, in all the test & reports it showed it was in fact the gallbladder.
Avatar f tn and i did have pancreatitis last year and spent three days in the hospital. But the pain has only gotten worse. I hope they find out on the 30th so i can get some relief.
Avatar n tn t know how she got it. Ever since the pancreatitis she has been in pain just about every day (and missing quite a bit of school). It doesn't seem to make a difference as to the types of food she eats. She has tried going without milk for 4-5 days and without wheat for about a week. She was tested for food allergies also, which came back negative. The most pain she has is in her abdomen area, running horizontally from side to side and it is tender to press on.
