Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis liver

pancreatitis

Avatar n tn Does the duct dilatation set off an inflamation of the liver and pancreas and cause the pancreatitis pain? Also can the duct dilatation heal on its own in time? I have no desire to undergo an ERCP as I've heard such nightmare stories from people who have undergone but yet I'm so tired of not feeling good and having pain and just would like to feel good again. Thanks for your help.
Avatar f tn 1. Steroids, mumps, Epstein Barr Virus and Cytomegalovirus, Lupus and other immune diseases, very high calcium, lipids and triglycerides, drugs: sulfa drugs, steroids, NSAID use, diuretics, duodenal ulcer, diabetic drugs especially Byetta. The drugs could be a problem for both the pancrease and liver too. If you have been taking Byetta for diabetis it is very important to get treatment for that right away. I would say there is cause for concern but you are getting it checked out.
Avatar f tn I am really worried that this was liver disease and/or acute pancreatitis. GI doctor says that based on ultrasound, CT scan, endoscopy and MRCP, there is no way that this abdominal pain is related to liver disease and/or pancreatitis. My job requires a lot of travel and entertaining (i.e. social drinking). GI doctor said that there is "no risk" from social drinking, and I am safe to get back to "work". Does this sound right?
Avatar m tn Hi, I saw a post of a case similar to mine where the liver was affected as well as the pancreas with wieght gain instead of loss on a low fat diet. Im wondering what causes that especially in pancreatitis? I loss alot of weight a year ago, was real sick with abnormal bruising and weakness, falling down, ect, this was before pancreas started acting up again, prior to that I had only one acute episode of pancreatitis.
Avatar m tn I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog. It's unlikely that pancreatitis results in acute liver failure/necrosis (ALN)- while pancreatitis can result in ELEVATED liver function tests (LFTs), it shouldn't cause failure. Cause for ALN include blue-green algae exposure (in stagnant ponds), sago palm ingestion, xylitol sugar-free gum, a few medications, etc. Sometimes end-stage liver disease (cirrhosis) can also cause acute liver failure also.
Avatar f tn Devices using vibration controlled transient elastography (VCTE) have recently been approved by the FDA to be used by clinicians providing care for patients with liver disease to evaluate liver fibrosis at the point of care. Measurement of transient elastography in assessing severity of liver disease is very well supported by a robust literature, extending back for more than a decade now.
Avatar n tn My lipids are withing normal levels and my weight is normal for my height. Your thoughts on the possiblity of liver damage or cronic pancreatitis? After 2 years of abstinence what are the possiblitlies of something coming up regarding the liver or pancreas? Thank you.
Avatar n tn I have looked up information on this med and it states that 1 out of 20 patients could develop liver damage. I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis on 10/14/08. I had never had it in my life. I am afraid this medicine has caused it. I have never ever picked up any type of drink other than diet pepsi and jucie. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am so scared and hurting.
Avatar f tn I was just diagnosed with elevated liver enzymes so my doctor has me going for hepatitis A, B, C blood work. Can drinking beer bring on hepatitis.
Avatar m tn Gastric Bypass surgery in 2014 and Gallbladder removal in 1990 In January, I went to the ER for abdominal pain, nausea and slight fever. Liver enzymes were highly elevated. Normal lipase/amylase and ultrasound and X-rays came back normal. Only thing noted was a 10mm calcification on right hepatic. Went to GI who ordered MRCP and that came back with 'possible' common bile duct obstruction. During the time I waited for ERCP double balloon, my liver enzymes went back up.
Avatar n tn Chest pain in center and back can be due to heart attack. Get an EKG done. It can also be due to duodenal ulcer, hepatitis, pancreatitis or due to hiatal hernia. Endoscopy, liver function test, serum amylase or lipase needs to be done. Please consult your PCP for primary examination followed by proper referral. Hope this helps. Take care!
Avatar n tn if the culprit is the pancreas,at least thats how pancreatitis usualy presents itslef,,,,i have seen people with pancreatitis have no elevated amalayes/lipase at all, untill they had an attack,,,and they returned right after it was over,,,so constant elevated levels could be more then just pancreas issues.
Avatar f tn Does he have any of the other symptoms associated with liver issues? Unfortunately, some people do simply suffer chronic pancreatitis. https://pancreasfoundation.org/patient-information/chronic-pancreatitis/ and https://www.health.harvard.edu/a_to_z/chronic-pancreatitis-a-to-z I do not blame you one bit for trying to find other avenues to explore besides chronic pancreatitis. The treatent for that is just managing symptoms.
Avatar m tn For the last few months I have had a constant gnawing achy feeling in the pit of my stomach. I have had labs for liver enzymes all normal, cholesterol all normal (trigs are 224 non fasting), all CMP labs within normal range. I had a complete abdominal ultrasound which was completely normal, (unable to view pancreas due to bowel gas). My doctor started me on kapidex which caused the symptoms to get worse. Dr says it's GERD, but it just constantly aches in the upper quadrants both of them.
Avatar n tn Barely sleeps, significant weight loss, and constipation. Ultrasound came back clear, fatty liver. Endoscopy negative. Blood work normal except this last check the included the CA 19-9, came back at 473. Ct had shown mild pancreatitis with pancreatic duct dilation. EUS procedure was scheduled and now canceled due to coronavirus. Do we have reason to worry is this most likely just pancreatitis.
422425 tn?1307992990 I have been searching on the net for information about Autoimmune Pancreatitis. I was diagnosed with this disease in July of 2007. My doctors were sure I had cancer because I had a mass the size of a golf ball on the tail of my pancreas. I also have masses in my kidneys. I was very relieved to find out it was NOT cancer, but an autoimmune respose to something. My question is.....has anyone else in this community been told they have this, and did the treatment work for you.
Avatar m tn Back in Nov 08, during a physical and ultrasound to check for what was first thought to be an ulcer, the Doc told me there was some inflammation of my pancreas and liver (alcoholic hepatitis), and to stop drinking immediately, since I consider myself a heavy drinker. If I stopped drinking I was told, everything would return to normal and be ok over time. I am only 31 years old, so I was suprised.
Avatar f tn My chocolate lab "Skip" is about 10 years old and developed pancreatitis for the first time. We took him to the doctor he never vomited or diahrea until the day after he got to the vets office. His amalyse was high like 8000 and his glucose and white blood count low but we got an ultrasound to make sure not cancer. He started to show improvements with the IV and antibiotic. Now a week later he is starting to decline and the vet has tried everything.
Avatar n tn aI'm posting this under general gastroenterology instead of Pancreatitis because I don't want something to get missed because of a myopic approach. In 1994, when I was 34 yrs old, I was diagnosed at Duke University Med. with pancreatitis. Pancreatitic and liver enzymes were all above 3000's. Since then I have fought chronic pancreatitis on an almost daily basis. It was considered unknown causes. I don't smoke or drink alcohol or take illicit drugs.
Avatar f tn i was diagnosed 2 years ago with chronic pancreatitis . from loma linda un. i got kaiser permantente. insurance. and thay diagnosed me with it. also i am curently taking meds for the pancrease and i go in for them to go down my throat to look at my pancrease and thay told me i do not have this illness. it is chronic back paine . ok ... from september to feburary. i could not eat i lost 20 lbs. now i am scared i have attacks and thay dont help me . i am confused and frightend.
Avatar n tn I have had ultra sound, upper GI, Endoscopy, CT scan, MRI, MRCP. Hida Scan, back xrays, and all the lab work, that includes blood test for pancreas and liver. They did find two side branch lesions about 1 cm each in the pancreas. The radiologist and my pancreatic specialist said they need to be monitored and no real concern at this time. The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal.
Avatar m tn Either way you need to see either a gastro doc or a hepatologist (liver doc) if a source in not found. The liver has over 100 functions and not an organ you want to fool around with. Wish I could help you more. Hope you find the answer soon.
Avatar n tn I am 36 years old and just found out through a routine MRI I have a small (2cm) lesion on the outside of my liver. I just had a biopsy on Thursday and I am waiting for the results. I am very worried it is cancer. I did have my kidney removed due to cancer 4 years ago. It was a confined tumor and needed no radiation or chemotherapy. Now after being cancer free for 41/2 years they discovered a solid lesion. Is this most likey to be the worst?
