20820562 tn?1524877846 She was constipated and vomiting. The vet took blood work that showed she had pancreatitis and kidney disease. Her BUN was 76 and creatinine 5.6. Her pancreatic function numbers were (Am) 2148 and (LP) 2792. She was on IV fluids overnight and her numbers barely changed for her kidneys but her pancreas function numbers were (Am) 441 and (LP)550.
Avatar n tn [7] Although outcomes of kidney transplantation in this population are superior to those achieved with dialysis,[8] graft and patient survival in HCV+ patients is lower than that in HCV- recipients.[1,9] Initial studies suggested that decompensated liver disease contributed to the increased death rates in HCV+ kidney recipients.[8] However, many of these earlier studies examined outcomes in patients in whom a retrospective diagnosis of hepatitis C infection was made only after transplantation.

Avatar f tn My dog is 17 1/2 (old I know), and last year he had a bad pancreatitis attack that led to kidney failure. After being put on IV fluids for 3 days, he got much better and the kidney failure actually went away. However the same thing happened yet again a week ago.
Avatar f tn There are many complications after kidney transplantation, such as your sister's infection. I suggest that you can use traditional Chinese medicine to protect your kidneys.
Avatar f tn I am struggling with several issues associated with management of kidney disease in my 18 year old terrier mix rescue dog, who was diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease 5 weeks ago, on the heels of an episode of acute pancreatitis. He had been on metacam for osteoarthritis (elbow, spine, hips) for about 2 years, so we have been monitoring his blood work at least every 6 months. His creatinine had been creeping up slowly, but entered the abnormal zone at 1.
Avatar f tn My 8 year old dog has late stage chronic kidney failure. She was diagnosed just over three weeks ago. We were shocked to hear this news because she just started showing signs of nausea about a week earlier (no other signs before). BUN 83, Creatinine 6.0, and Phosphorus 8.5 (her levels lowered after 48 hours of IV). She is anemic and has pancreatitis and a UTI as well. She has been struggling with loss of appetite (weight loss) and vomiting.
Avatar m tn Department of Medicine (Royal Melbourne Hospital/Western Hospital) and Endocrinology, Transplantation is an established therapy for end-stage diseases of the kidney, endocrine pancreas, heart, liver, lung, intestines and for many hematological disorders. Current immunosuppressive regimens with glucocorticoids and calcineurin inhibitors produce excellent patient and graft survival rates.
1066720 tn?1254994330 For example, HCV-associated glomerulonephritides can recur after kidney transplantation and cause progressive renal dysfunction, and antiviral therapy may be needed to prevent graft loss (106,107). In addition, patients with advanced fibrosis (bridging fibrosis or cirrhosis) or severe cholestatic hepatitis warrant consideration of treatment to prevent death as a result of liver-related complications.
Avatar n tn This was very challenging as a husband and a father. After a successful kidney transplantation surgery and proper treatment, she got back her life. I came to realize that other people with such a problem need attention, care, advice and support. I am here to do the little I can in helping you if you let me. I hope to share my experience and give advice/support. Feel free to send me a message anytime.
Avatar f tn I truly feel like the change in diet triggered her pancreatitis which caused her kidney values to shoot through the roof (when we put her in the hospital, they were literally off the chart). We get to pick her up today. I definitely don't want to feed her anymore of the NF food. I checked out some of your recipes which I am more than willing to try, but I want to make sure it doesn't affect her pancreatitis. Any thoughts?
Avatar f tn s likely the kidney disease occurred first and the pancreatitis is the result of the kidney failure. However, the pancreatitis may be a chronic condition that has been happening for a long time, in which case it could have affected the kidneys. Has your vet given any indication of which may be the case? The reason for asking is it could be important, because acute pancreatitis can be treated (although any organ damage cannot be undone).
Avatar n tn Hey- just a quick question, can any of the tx meds for Hep C cause kidney problems? I just have had some issues lately and was wondering if they could be linked to tx.
658828 tn?1225046595 ) I also thought I had pancreatitis...SOD...kidney issues (did I IVP xray..) ...remember if it's celiac or wheat..or some take a good month or so to see improvement so find a safe gluten free vitamin to try or test for celiac in the meantime...
Avatar n tn Within the last two years she has been diagnosed with kidney stones, anemia, pancreatitis, hypokalemia, mixed connective tissue disease, asthma, raynauds disease, mono, bronchitis, pleurisy, pericarditis, chostochondritis, uti's, kidney infections...She has had a fever for weeks...The drs say her potassium is dangerously low and they've given her multiple IV's with potassium, but it hasn't helped make any improvements.
Avatar n tnPancreatitis - also known as inflammation of the pancreas, can cause amylase and lipase levels to be increased up to 3 times normal. Both values should be increased, in order to carry the diagnosis of pancreatitis. •Lipase may be increased in tumors of the pancreas, or stomach certain stomach conditions. These conditions are usually painful. •Gall bladder infection - Inflammation of the gall bladder (cholecystitis), may cause increased lipase levels (hyperlipasemia).

Avatar n tn s GFR (Glomerular Filtration Rate) is below the lowest level of function, therefore, he will be needing some form of dialysis and/or kidney transplantation. Brief Explanation: Glomerular Filtration Rate (GFR): Your GFR tells how much kidney function you have. It may be estimated from your blood level of creatinine.
583644 tn?1221445546 My body tells me it is my kidneys. I have kidney stones, but my GP insists that the pain is not from my kidney stones because they are not obstructing the duct. I asked him if it was possible that my stones were moving around and he told me that kidney stones do not move around and they do not cause pain.
Avatar n tn How long has it been since your kidney transplant? Do you still take medications to prevent kidney rejection? One of your greatest concerns as a transplant recipient will be that your body's immune system will reject and attack the transplanted kidney. If not reversed, rejection will destroy the transplanted organ. Aside from rejection, complications of transplantation include infection, relapse, high cholesterol level, liver disease, and weakening of the bones.
