I am struggling with several issues associated with management of kidney disease in my 18 year old terrier mix rescue dog, who was diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease 5 weeks ago, on the heels of an episode of acute pancreatitis. He had been on metacam for osteoarthritis (elbow, spine, hips) for about 2 years, so we have been monitoring his blood work at least every 6 months. His creatinine had been creeping up slowly, but entered the abnormal zone at 1.
My 8 year old dog has late stage chronic kidney failure. She was diagnosed just over three weeks ago. We were shocked to hear this news because she just started showing signs of nausea about a week earlier (no other signs before). BUN 83, Creatinine 6.0, and Phosphorus 8.5 (her levels lowered after 48 hours of IV). She is anemic and has pancreatitis and a UTI as well. She has been struggling with loss of appetite (weight loss) and vomiting.
I truly feel like the change in diet triggered her pancreatitis which caused her kidney values to shoot through the roof (when we put her in the hospital, they were literally off the chart).
We get to pick her up today. I definitely don't want to feed her anymore of the NF food. I checked out some of your recipes which I am more than willing to try, but I want to make sure it doesn't affect her pancreatitis.

s likely the kidney disease occurred first and the pancreatitis is the result of the kidney failure. However, the pancreatitis may be a chronic condition that has been happening for a long time, in which case it could have affected the kidneys. Has your vet given any indication of which may be the case?
The reason for asking is it could be important, because acute pancreatitis can be treated (although any organ damage cannot be undone).
Within the last two years she has been diagnosed with kidney stones, anemia, pancreatitis, hypokalemia, mixed connective tissue disease, asthma, raynauds disease, mono, bronchitis, pleurisy, pericarditis, chostochondritis, uti's, kidney infections...She has had a fever for weeks...The drs say her potassium is dangerously low and they've given her multiple IV's with potassium, but it hasn't helped make any improvements.
•Pancreatitis - also known as inflammation of the pancreas, can cause amylase and lipase levels to be increased up to 3 times normal. Both values should be increased, in order to carry the diagnosis of pancreatitis.
•Lipase may be increased in tumors of the pancreas, or stomach certain stomach conditions. These conditions are usually painful.

I'm a 27yr old Male, So in late 2015 I lost my left kidney (Trauma Nephrectomy) due to a bmx accident, I was a pretty big drinker up until the accident and now I drink anywhere between 15-30 standards through out the week, mainly on weekends, I was wondering if this will ever effect me and around what age area and what is likely to happen if something does, my liver is known to be 100%
My 13 year old corgi mix was diagnosed with Pancreatitis 4 days ago. The anti biotic weren't improving her eating behavior and she seemed to be fading so today I took her to the vet and found out her kidneys were failing. They said they weren't sure if she'd recover but are keeping her for a few days to do a fluid flush. My question is will she pull through? Her BUN is 130 and her PHOS is 16.1. Does she have a chance? She was acting normal up until two days ago.
Recently, we found out that he has kidney failure as well. A day later, pancreatitis was added to his list of medical condition. He was hospitalized for 4 days and we brought him home yesterday against the vet's advice as I could see his time his near and I do not wish for him to die in a cage. Currently, he has no energy. He could even sit or stand up. He can't even lift up his own head. He is lying down the whole day and we have to force feed him food and water with a syringe.
Wally is a rescued greyhound, he's been sick since the day we brought him home however we certainly didn't expect him to be diagnosed with kidney damage in October , and now pancreatitis, unfortunately we don't know a lot of his history other than he ran in 34 races

Have you considered actute pancreatitis or chrnic pancreatitis? Look up their symptoms and if you think that is what you have then the first thing to do is to ask your doctor for blood work and an ultrasound.
I am having some serious pains when I get up from laying down. The pains are typically located on the left side or the entire upper abdomen. When the pains are on the left side they are also located in my back. I usually take the back pain for my kidney pain (I've had kidney stones since 2004) but I'm worried that with this condition (I was recently diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism, although have been having symptoms for years) it could be something serious (pancreatitis?).
Saturday evening, soon after a big meal, I developed an aching in my right back, below shoulder blade, like where my kidney is. It persisted for several hours so I decided to retire early. My chocolate lab "Skip" is about 10 years old and developed pancreatitis for the first time. We took him to the doctor he never vomited or diahrea until the day after he got to the vets office. The same thing a kidney stone is made out of and also if you have pain there as well it could be kidney related due to refer pain. So you should get blood and urine test asap.
the other problem that could arise after surgery is scar tissue building up causing adhesions..that is why it causes the pain..so the Doctor should send you for a ct scan..
On Aug. 31st my dog was diagnosed with Kidney Failure. Her creatinine was at a 8. As of almost 2 weeks ago it went down to a 2. I have been giving her 6 cc's of fluid subcutaneously. As also Aluminum Hydroxide Gel, USP 5 mL after she eats. Along with PancrePlus as she basically has chronic pancreatitis since 2011 and I can only feed her either boiled chicken & rice or science diet I/D or she starts to tremble in pain.
I woke in the am without the initial symptoms, but instead had a full body rash that was developing and extreme soreness on both sides of my lower back. (I had assumed kidney stones or issue, but the later blood work and urinalysis suggested not.)
Went to the doc 2 days later as the rash covered nearly my whole body. The rash was so pronounced and severe looking (though minimal discomfort) that all of the physician attention was spent on it.
