Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis infection

pancreatitis

Avatar f tn Unless you have a blood infection I doubt that the knee infection and pancreatitis are connected. It also depends on whether you are immunocompromised. Have you had a super high fever and chills? If so I would see the doctor. The bacteria from the knee infection would have to leak into the blood into order for it to get into the pancreas and vice versa. Did the knee infection happen soon after it was placed in the knee? If so it could have come from surgery.
Avatar f tn With repeated bouts of acute pancreatitis, damage to the pancreas can occur and lead to chronic pancreatitis. Scar tissue may form in the pancreas, causing loss of function. A poorly functioning pancreas can cause digestion problems and diabetes.
Avatar f tn hi thnx 4 ur input...im already diagnosed h. pylori & it caused my gastritis since 2011....but i been treated... now im suspicious about this new back pain...cuz it happens when my GI issues go crazy.... when do GI problems give back pain?. i've never heard of this..
Avatar f tn I have a history of acute recurrent Pancreatitis over 10years long, with dual Sphincterotomies done 9 months ago that also resulted in a retroperitoneal small bowel perforation and ongoing frequent attacks of acute Pancreatitis. My ampulla goes into a diverticulum in the small bowel. A Triple phase CT Scan done today shows air in the intrahepatic radicals, and in the bile duct, which is dilated to 8.8 mms. There is also air in the Pancreatic Duct which is mildly dilated in the head 4.
Avatar m tn in her CT scan doctors found her pencreas head size is bit bulky, they called it as Pencreas mild infection. but for secrure side they did MRCP too. everything was normal, only that infection they found. after this doctors stopped her food n water even. Daily her Blood tests done(Lipase n Amylase). when doctors stopped her food n in one day she was not having her pain.
504535 tn?1210527032 Yellow stools generally indicate insufficient bile output like cholecystitis, gall stones, it can also indicate an intestinal infection like giardiasis when the stool passes very quickly through the intestine. Other conditions that can cause yellow stools include hepatitis, pancreatitis or liver cirrhosis. It does not indicate cancer like you rightly mentioned.
559187 tn?1330782856 Has anyone here ever had pancreatitis? If so, did you have it after getting your MS diagnosis? I am wondering how much of an impact, if any, did the this affect your MS symptoms? I can't possibly believe that this could trigger yet another MS relapse as I feel I paid my dues with the relapse hat just preceeded the pancreatits, but is it possible? Thanks.
Avatar f tn On Aug. 31st my dog was diagnosed with Kidney Failure. Her creatinine was at a 8. As of almost 2 weeks ago it went down to a 2. I have been giving her 6 cc's of fluid subcutaneously. As also Aluminum Hydroxide Gel, USP 5 mL after she eats. Along with PancrePlus as she basically has chronic pancreatitis since 2011 and I can only feed her either boiled chicken & rice or science diet I/D or she starts to tremble in pain.
Avatar m tn Basically I was told that I would have to ride it out and it would last about 12 weeks....and that it is generally due to an unknown infection. The dermatologist was right....it took about 12 weeks to clear up. The lower back pain lessened but become concentrated on the left side...pushing the lowest rib on the left back will create a nice jolt of pain.
Avatar f tn t have taken because I no longer have a gall bladder, and my knee replacement that was 15 months old became infected, I would like to know if the infection in my knee could have been caused by the pancreatitis?
Avatar n tn Have you considered actute pancreatitis or chrnic pancreatitis? Look up their symptoms and if you think that is what you have then the first thing to do is to ask your doctor for blood work and an ultrasound.
1067109 tn?1258330364 I began a telapravir trial on Jan 9, 2009 and was taken off after 34-weeks because I got too sick, ended up with Pancreatitis and blah blah blah. I am now almost 4-months post treatment and am still UND even after having treatment stopped early. These new protease inhibitors are awsome as most of us already know. The nurse said that if I am still UND on my next draw in 2-months they are going to consider me cured. Just wanted to share the good news.
Avatar n tn My Beemer, 12 year old German Wirehaired Pointer, has been perfectly healthy and active until 10 days ago.. No one who meets Beemer can believe that she's 12..seriously..She's always been a fireball. 10 days ago, I came home from work and she wouldn't use one of her back legs...You could pull on it, bend it, put pressure on her hips and she didn't show any signs of pain...And yet she wouldn't use the leg..
Avatar n tnPancreatitis - also known as inflammation of the pancreas, can cause amylase and lipase levels to be increased up to 3 times normal. Both values should be increased, in order to carry the diagnosis of pancreatitis. •Lipase may be increased in tumors of the pancreas, or stomach certain stomach conditions. These conditions are usually painful. •Gall bladder infection - Inflammation of the gall bladder (cholecystitis), may cause increased lipase levels (hyperlipasemia).
658828 tn?1225046595 I have been reading online and think I may have Pancreatitis? Are these symptoms consistent with Pancreatitis? I also have read about Fibromyalgia as well b/c these autoimmune diseases seem to occur together, but I just cant get myself to think that this is just a muscoskeletal pain problem especially since its mainly in the area where my kidneys are located. I have an appt with a GI dr next week so I am hoping i can get some answers.
Avatar n tn So about 5 months ago I was given antibiotics for Hpylori infection. It was a 7 days course. I was asypmtomatic though. Upon second day of antibiotics course I developed severe upper stomach pain which has almost disabled me it feels like someone has punched me in upper stomach, but even though I was in so much pain I continued taking antibiotics for 7 days to complete the course, big mistake, I was dying everyday. It has been 5 months with no relief.
Avatar n tn We just this week found out that she has 2 parasites and a bacterial infection in her gut. Not sure which came first the parasite or the pancreatitis - or if they are even related. It took us months going through "regular" GI doc - they never even suggested doing a stool sample because she did not have the typical symptoms (diarrhea mainly) for a parasite. We finally brought her to a highly recommended homeopathic doc who found this in pretty short order.
Avatar n tn Mathis, red spots and scabs in dogs are usually due to a bacterial skin infection (less commonly skin mites, fungal infection or autoimmune disease), and oral antibiotics for 3-4 weeks are likely needed. Your veterinarian can do skin scrapings to evaluate for the presence of infection, +/- skin cultures or biopsies if bacteria are not seen, or if the infection does not respond to appropriate antibiotics.
Avatar f tn I am struggling with several issues associated with management of kidney disease in my 18 year old terrier mix rescue dog, who was diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease 5 weeks ago, on the heels of an episode of acute pancreatitis. He had been on metacam for osteoarthritis (elbow, spine, hips) for about 2 years, so we have been monitoring his blood work at least every 6 months. His creatinine had been creeping up slowly, but entered the abnormal zone at 1.

Avatar n tn The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal. The pancreatic specialist did not mention pancreatitis at the time and only prescribed nexium and sulcrafate for the gastritis. I am 67, and never had a previous bout with pancreatitis. Moderate beer drinker. How should I be treated?
Avatar n tn I am undergoing treatment for pancreatitis, I am 29 yrs old and not an alcoholic. What precautions I should take while undergoing treatment ? what are the chances of recovering from this disease?
Avatar n tn I had to put my 11 year old Llhasa apso to sleep yesterday because he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and was in so much pain that they could not guarantee that he would survive even with treatment. It came on suddenly...he was fine Saturday but began throwing up in the middle of the night and continued...he couldn't even hold down water and was very weak. I took him into the veterinary hospital on Sunday and he was too weak to come home.
Avatar n tn Hi .. I have the same thing ... started a year or so ago with mild spasms in left back and front area .. now its pretty much constant and it's in my left hip and left shoulder. Sometimes my ribs and side is tender to touch and I get gas and discomfort as well as low back ache. I had one bad lot of pain one night that I thought might be pancreatitis but nothing since and I carried on drinking heavily (I had a drink problem but have stopped now) for several months after and no more attacks.
719251 tn?1230340905 My mother has been suffering from Pancreatitis for the past 4months. She has been in hospital three times with severe pain, vomitting, and fluid in the abdominal. In that time she has lots over 25kg. She is 60 years old but since loosing so much weight she looks like 80 years old. She no longer drinks but continues to smoke. What worries me the most is that she eats very tiny amount of food, she vomitts everyday and she is just not getting any better.
