pancreatitis

Avatar n tn Door, autoimmune pancreatitis (AIP) is an unusual form of pancreatitis that has only recently been recognized as a distinct disorder. AIP is an unusual form of chronic pancreatitis. The immune system mistakenly attacks healthy pancreas tissue, causing inflammation and hardening. Symptoms closely mimic pancreatic cancer (pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma), but the disease process is different. It can be a multisystem disorder in which the disease can affect other parts of the body.
Avatar f tn Okay I am aware this is a diabetes forum, but the thyroid ask a doctor forum is full, like they usually are.. and am seeking advice.. I was wondering, because a friend of mine has shown symptoms of hyperthyroidism, after I had done some research, and I plan on urging them to get this checked out. I also know that this person's father has pancreatitis. I read that thyroid disorders can be hereditary.

Avatar f tn Hi, I'm new to this forum and I need some feedback. I have been having bad upper stomach and mid chest pains for about 2 and a half weeks, which is coming from the pancreatitis diagnoses i got a couple or 3 years ago. The last couple of bowel movements I had looked weird. They looked like a whole lot of pieces glued together, really ragged, not smooth as they normally are. Does anybody know if that's a normal part of pancreatits?
Avatar m tn This is the community forum so there are no doctor on here. To ask a doctor you have to go to the expert forum but there are currently no doctors answering questions there now. What did your blood tests show to make your doctor think you have chronic pancreatitis?
Avatar m tn Hi Maajid, Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum, I am sorry to hear about your uncle. There are no physicians on this forum. So please be aware that I am not an expert. An endoscopic implantation of a stent will not cure pancreatitis to my knowledge. There are medications that can help with the symptoms of this disease. It is very painful. If you want to seek the advice of one of our physician please click on the word Forums at the top of the page. There are forums that led by physicians.
Avatar f tn 5 (her levels lowered after 48 hours of IV). She is anemic and has pancreatitis and a UTI as well. She has been struggling with loss of appetite (weight loss) and vomiting. I have been giving her daily Sub-Q fluids, Epikitin, Famotidine (10mg), and she is on an antibiotic for her UTI--for two days an appetite stimulant. Her blood was tested again 23 days later and her BUN 87, Creatinine 6.2, and Phosphorus 9.8 Her diet started out as Hills diet G/D (not K/D because of her pancreatitis).
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed with pancreatitis and also at the same time my knee replacement that was 15 months old became infected and I'm just wondering if they are tied together.
Avatar f tn Hello and welcome to the forum. We appreciate your question. Elevated lipase can be associated with gastroenteritis which you may have had based on nausea you describe. If your stomach lining is irritated, you can have elevated lipase. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/322201.php You could also have your symptoms and pancreatitis and have elevated lipase. Sometimes a bland diet will help such as the brat diet. This is banana, rice, applesauce, and toast.
Avatar n tn i have been diagnosed with Pancreatitis. Wondering if I can eat fat free cottage cheese or are all dairy off limits. Also yogurt is mentioned but seems like too much sugar, is it okay as well. I have been getting sharp pains after eating a small meal of oatmeal and tuna, is that normal?
Avatar f tn I am struggling with several issues associated with management of kidney disease in my 18 year old terrier mix rescue dog, who was diagnosed with stage 2 kidney disease 5 weeks ago, on the heels of an episode of acute pancreatitis. He had been on metacam for osteoarthritis (elbow, spine, hips) for about 2 years, so we have been monitoring his blood work at least every 6 months. His creatinine had been creeping up slowly, but entered the abnormal zone at 1.
Avatar n tn That one is specific for pancreatitis and other GI problems. You might want to post on the Ask a Vet Forum here at Med Help. Dr. Cheng volunteers her time, so it's free, and she's great with both western veterinary medicine as well as holistic Chinese medicine. I'm sure she'll have some good suggestions for you.
Avatar f tn Your title is Pancreatitis/Cirrhosis does that mean you have been diagnosed by your doctor with either or both? Those are both serious medical conditions if you have them and must be discussed with your physician. We here are either caregivers or patients with cirrhosis and while we can pass along our experiences, provide support and suggest questions you may want to ask your doctor, we are not medical professionals. I strongly urge you to discuss your concerns with your treating physician.
Avatar f tn I know I am tardy in my response to your post. I just visited this MH Forum as I am ususally on other MH forums. I did some research on your question. It doesn't appear that pancreatitis is normally caused from a hernia or hernia surgery. I did find this: "Acute pancreatitis is most commonly caused by gallstones and alcohol. However, other mechanical factors may cause acute pancreatitis due to obstruction of the pancreatic duct and ischemia of the pancreas.
Avatar f tn Have they checked his gallbladder? And have they tested him for autoimmune pancreatitis? If not, both should be done. In the meantime, he probably should be following a pancreatitis diet and taking supplemental enzymes to try to 'assist' with ''sick' pancreas.
Avatar m tn I was diagnosed with Chronic Pancreatitis as a result of gallstones. My gall bladder was removed in 2005 but 3-5 days weekly, I cannot sit upright for more than 20-30 minutes at a time and due to the pain in my lower back - I am required to lay horizontal for the rest of the entire day. Is this due to this illness?
Avatar n tn My father has informed me he now has satge 2 liver disease and pancreatitis. He is an alchoholic and has hep c. He states that he will not quit drinking. Im wanting to know how long he has and what is going to happen?
1658379 tn?1302367230 I have already undergone a CT scan that my family doctor says looks fine. But this feeling is constant. I have a hx of chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic cancer in my family. Being that I am a mother as well as a full time RRT, I don't have time to be plagued by this. Is there any tests I should request from my family doctor? Is there anything I can say to have him take my situation seriously? Your answer will be greatly appreciated? Thanks so much for your time.
Avatar m tn There is currently another thread running on this forum about pancreatitis in a shih tzu. I just a few minutes ago finished a REALLY long post containing information about diets and how to home-cook for your dog to help the pancreatitis. I don't want to spam the board with the same post by re-posting it here. Your dog is very lucky to have such an alert owner! Good catch on your part! Please keep us updated!

Avatar n tn The endoscopy found mild gastritis. All other test are normal. The pancreatic specialist did not mention pancreatitis at the time and only prescribed nexium and sulcrafate for the gastritis. Avatar n tn I am undergoing treatment for pancreatitis, I am 29 yrs old and not an alcoholic. What precautions I should take while undergoing treatment ? what are the chances of recovering from this disease?
Avatar n tn I had to put my 11 year old Llhasa apso to sleep yesterday because he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and was in so much pain that they could not guarantee that he would survive even with treatment. It came on suddenly...he was fine Saturday but began throwing up in the middle of the night and continued...he couldn't even hold down water and was very weak. I took him into the veterinary hospital on Sunday and he was too weak to come home.
