pancreatitis

Avatar f tn Yes get these checked at the emergency. Pancreatitis is dangerous if it is the acute kind. If your levels are not raised you could have chronic pancreatitis so you could get tested for that.

Avatar f tn I have a sharp burning pain just below my left rib, I can feel a burning sensation through to my back, it is a constant pain. Went to doctor he gave me medicine for a cough I had but the pain continues. This is 2 plus weeks and the pain has not gotten any better. I take pain reliever 5 to 6 times a day that helps a little. It feels like someone is stabbing me with a knife. Can you give me any information that might help?
Avatar n tn Can the medicine Zanaflex cause Pancreatitis? I have looked up information on this med and it states that 1 out of 20 patients could develop liver damage. I was diagnosed with Pancreatitis on 10/14/08. I had never had it in my life. I am afraid this medicine has caused it. I have never ever picked up any type of drink other than diet pepsi and jucie. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am so scared and hurting.
Avatar m tn If it is arteritic then large doses of oral cortison are needed to get the sed rate down. The section on emedicine is especially good. If its non-arteritic there is no treatment for the eye problem and visual recovery is usually good. Again emedicine entry is excellent.
1006041 tn?1250396768 I am a 35 year old and have found out within the last year that I am allergic to cholesterol medicine. When I take just one pill my liver enzymes go up. This has been determined at two numerous hospital stays, infact, doctors didnt believe the previous diagnosis of an allergic reaction and gave me the meds to see for themselves. I have chronic pancreatitis and have gotten sick several times from high lipid count due to my cholesterol.
Avatar n tn The only relief she is able to get is when she is in the emergency room and given pain medication. This has left her stranded on the side of the road more than once, and she has endured nearly every thinkable test in medicine. Other than the obvious signs of illness, i.e. vomiting, her white blood cells triple. She has a left shift in her white blood cells which suggest a bacterial infection, but that could possibly be the body’s way of self preservation when she starts getting sick.
Avatar f tn I was diagnosed yesterday in the ER. They found through an abdominal ultra sound the tail is enlarged. I have a family history of pancreatic cancer. They request I do further testing. Is pancreatitis something you can get rid of or is it something that kind of hangs around and "flares up"?
675347 tn?1365460645 Some dogs can overindulge for years and suddenly develop pancreatitis. Symptoms of pancreatitis are vomiting, inability to keep down water, lack of appetite, lethargy and fever as the condition worsens. Treatment is mainly inpatient supportive care. The dog must have complete digestive rest which means nothing - not even water - by mouth. An IV is necessary for fluids, antibiotics and eventually nutrition if the condition persists more than a week - which it easily can do.
Avatar f tn In the past year I had two trips to the emergency room, both showing that I had a high level of pancreatic enzymes. I often have diarrhea, stomach pain, and loud uncomfortable rumbling. I have an appointment with a GI doctor in a week. Will they be able to help. But would could be wrong with me?
Avatar n tn My dog had acute pancreatitis over the weekend and I took him to an emergency vet on Sunday and to his vet on Mon. They both kept him overnight, IV, blood work, meds, and his vet did a rectal x-ray and abdominal x-ray with barium to look for obstruction. He found dirt/sand. My dog ate cat poop covered in dirt. He is at home now doing fine and I have him on a bland diet of canned white chicken and brown rice only. However, his lower abd/belly is a little distended and hard.
Avatar n tn I am looking for a dog food for our rat terrier who has issues with chronic pancreatitis, high cholesterol and trig. We presently have her on Hill's W/D but would like a maintenance low fat food.

439601 tn?1357860886 Just wondering as I had emergency surgery this week to remove the Gallbladder, a bad bout of pancreatitis came with it. The first ?? out of the surgeons mouth was -What MS Medicine do you inject? He said he was just "noting" it for the records, but when I got home from the hospital a very large questionaire came from Avonex asking me to list all my medications. I have been on Avonex for over a year now, so I curious if these meds can cause such problems? Any help is appreciated.
Avatar n tn I called my public health department to ask about PEP. They had referred me to my local emergency room. The doctor at the emergency room says that my state regulates who they prescribe the medicine to and that my case wasn't reliable when it came to sources. He referred me to the public health department. He assured me that it was all hearsay and to get tested. Was that right? Can they do that? What are my odds of actually contracting it? Is there anything else I can do now?
Avatar m tn This started about 1 year ago, I had secure upper abdominal pain and was diagnosed with pancreatitis. At first, when I noticed the problem, I was under the impression that my feeling of disjointed reality was being caused by the medicine I was taking. After weaning myself off of the meds the problem remained. I struggled with this for a time and finally sought medical help. Basically, it appears as though the world is not real....or possible that I am sleeping even thugh I am awake.
Avatar n tn I had serious pain after the procedure and went to the emergency room. My liver enzymes were elevated when I went in (the dr. said 100/100), but the next day they went up to 1300/1300. They went down considerably the same day, but no one can give me a reason why it happened. The oncall dr said it had to be related to the procedure because they shot up so high the following day, but the surgeon performing the ERCP said that it was not normal. Anybody experienced this?
Avatar f tn The pain actually has gotten worse since since I’ve stopped the wine. The emergency room doctor thought it was a mild case of pancreatitis but my family doctor believes it’s an ulcer. I’ve been taking 40 mg of Prilosec as well as sucralfate. I’ve also been having some weight loss. I had a CT scan and everything came back normal as well as an ultrasound. Bloodwork looks good except for that Lipase panel. Trying to get into see a gastrologist but because of the coronavirus and not able to.

Avatar n tn costochondritis, diverticulitis, intestinal infection, pancreatitis, pericarditis and spleen irritation. Some causes are easily treatable. Mild inflammation can be addressed with pain relievers or anti-inflammatory drugs; transient bowel issues may be treated with digestive aids. However other causes, such as pancreatitis, broken ribs, collapsed lungs and aortic aneurysms, are very serious and require immediate attention.
Avatar m tn ve had a pain on my left side, which feels like a faint version of the acute pancreatitis I had a few years ago. The location is the same as the pancreatitis. The pain it is: - Sore to the touch sometimes - Directly below the middle of my left rib - Sometimes in the middle or right - Might crawl up my chest, to the right - Not bad enough to take medicine for, but bad enough to concern me - It is somewhat related to eating -- it can activate when eating, it can also just be there.
Avatar n tn My husband, age 40, started out with elevated lipase levels (650-750 range) consistently for the past 4 weeks. He was a heavy drinker, smokes, and eats a lot of fatty foods. He has gone through massive blood testing throughout the month and everything is normal except for the elevated Lipase levels, had quit drinking a month ago, had an Ultrasound, CT Scan, and MRI which were all normal. I have noticed signs of depression, anxiety, and his stomach discomfort for at least the past 6 months.
