793908 tn?1294705109 I want to tell you this...most Pancreatitis attacks are brought on by giving the dog HUMAN foods. I was alot better with her diet, but I did give her starches which I was told is okay. Than everyone else let her taste this n that & it all built up in her Pancreas..over the course of 6 weeks (since her last attack)..called SLUDGE...it built up in her...which my poor baby couldn't digest...& had another attack. Fatty foods cause attacks.
Avatar f tn A partial answer, since I don't know all of what you have to avoid, would be that a diet based on the whole foods concept should help some. The whole foods concept is based on the idea of eating foods as close to how you get them from nature as possible without processing them. Going gluten free has helped several of my conditions, including pre-diabetes. I went gluten free for other health reasons and had many benefits.
936335 tn?1246412231 I keep a food journal to try to avoid different foods that causes the trigger. But the pain is so severe that is debilates me for the remainder of the day and causes severe back pain on the left side of my back near my spine. If I take whatever stomach medicine I am trying at the time, my enzymes to break the food down, and pain medicine then I can usually function pretty well without going into that severe pain.

Avatar f tn I have found help for my husband at a site that talks about beating pancreatitis. It suggests following a diet that severely restricts all fats, not just saturated fats.
Avatar f tn php You could also have your symptoms and pancreatitis and have elevated lipase. Sometimes a bland diet will help such as the brat diet. This is banana, rice, applesauce, and toast. Lipase can stay elevated for a couple of weeks after a bout of gastroenteritis or pancreatitis. How long has it been?
Avatar m tn Does anybody know what foods and beverages to avoid for the liver?anyway let me know.
Avatar n tn Very good recovery given that you avoid any alcohol intake, that includes mouthwash and nyquil. Also a low fat high carb diet is the best for this disease.
1807187 tn?1316861276 In general, most docs tell patients who have acute pancreatitis to follow a liquid diet for a period of time then slowly transition to a soft diet that is very low in fat. That can be followed up by changing back to a 'regular' low fat diet. The digestive enzymes - Creon - will be used to help to digest the food you take in.
Avatar f tn There's a nasty little amino acid out there called tyramine. It's in a LOT of foods, at different intensities, that's a HUGE trigger for me. Chocolate, red grapes and wines, cheeses, yeasty breads, and a bunch of other foods have high tyramine levels. What I did many years ago was Google "low tyramine diet" and go on an elimination diet where I didn't eat any of the foods listed. It was hard to find stuff to eat for a while until I learned how to think low tyramine.

Avatar n tn I am 67 yrs old and take a variety of medications. Many of my conditions are related to post-Graves Disease. Ten years ago I had my gallbladder out after an attack of acute pancreatitis. I subsequently developed chronic pancreatitis and was diagnosed with Sphincter of Oddi. Rather than have the invasive surgery I went on a strict, fresh chicken soup diet with supplements ordered by an Ayruvedic doctor. Within 2 years I was completely recovered and could eat anything.

Avatar m tn My doctor told me to stay on a blunt diet, and avoid Richy spicy foods. My doctor gave me no other medicines. But since yesterday I am feeling heavy cramps( not pain to be specific) which is coming upto the chest ! Also my back is paining( around spinal cords I Guess, I have no idea where the pain is actually happening on my back). What is this all about? Can erosive gastritis cause death? Can gas cause heart attack?Cause it is coming upto the chest! Is it pancreatitis? What should I do?
Avatar n tn Food triggers are different for different persons. Some people find cold foods worsening the pain whereas some find spicy foods intolerable. Foods that contain a lot of fat may also trigger the pain. For you it seems to be the same. Please avoid spicy, high salt and high fat diet. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar f tn She thought she had the flu for over two weeks, she went to the ER and was admitted for acute pancreatitis. She stayed in the hospital for 2 weeks. Ellie is a vegan so her diet was optimal to start with. After a month or two things settled back into normal and then she had another episode in October/11. Scans and tests do not reveal any stones or blocked ducts but 1/3 of her pancreas is necrotic. She was a healthy 25 yr old that by her own admission did drink beer and or wine but not to excess.
Avatar m tn You can take 800 mg of vitamin E as alpha-tocopherol and 2,500 mg of aged garlic extract to help protect against LDL oxidation. Avocado oil "Good" monounsaturated fat makes up about 72% of its calories, the same as olive oil. “The monounsaturated fat in avocado oil helps protect your heart by reducing LDL cholesterol levels and improving your blood pressure numbers,” says Washington, DC, dietitian Rebecca Scritchfield, RD.
