pancreatitis

Avatar f tn for like the 80th time or if this could just be the result of pancreatitis and my diet change. This discussion is related to Frequent Bowel Movements.
Avatar f tn During a recent trip to Mexico, I came down with 'travelers diarrhea' - fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomitting, dehydration. Upon arriving back in the states, I was readmitted to the hospital due to elevated amylase and lipase. I didn't have the severe pancreatitis pain until later that night and then only one other bout two nights later. A CT scan, ERCP, and internal ultrasound were all normal and I was discharged after 5 days.
Avatar f tn Try following a lower-in-fat diet to see if it's of help. Many people have bowel habit changes after GB surgery and it's possibly due to the fact that they can't process fats the way they did before the surgery. You may also want to consider trying some probiotics - that's the good bacteria you should have in your GI tract but may not have due to dietary changes, illness or medication usage, etc. The only contraindications would be immunosuppression or pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn Pancreatitis is one of the more difficult diseases to treat. It is also extremely painful. If she isn't able to hold down water, I honestly think she needs to go back in hospital. The way pancreatitis is treated is by allowing that organ to rest through literal starvation. Same treatment holds for human patients too. The dog is given IV hydration and nutrition, nausea and pain control, and then you wait it out. Is she eating anything at all?
Avatar f tn m having lots of pain, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea but lately my lipase and amylase levels have been low. The doctor said my pancreas is sluggish and work like it should and this is why my blood levels are normal. Can anyone tell me if exocrine pancreatic insufficiency affects lipase and amylase levels during a pancreatitis flare up? Also has anyone ever had normal blood levels with pancreatitis?
Avatar m tn It is 20 days that I stopped it and now no burning and no bloody stool but still I have diarrhea. is it possible to have diarrhea 20 days after stopping it? I have IBS also.
611067 tn?1458591483 Well, my family doctor spoke with me last night and wants to see me tonight after hours. I'm so glad she's the kind of doctor she is. She's so helpful!!! As for me, the specialist cannot do the test he wanted because my intestines (from my gastric bypass) are still too long for him (with an endoscope) to go throught he pouch into the intestines and back up into the duct area. So, he is doing an MRI instead this Friday.
Avatar n tn sorry just wanted to add yea my diet hasnt been too good, alot of fats and sugars in my diet, im eating healthy now, i was a smoker too which i have quit too. the diharea i have had since i was 19 i am 31 now, maybe the cause of that is some kind of food intolerance?
Avatar m tn Hello, Thank you to anyone who may respond and offer information in regards to my post. My simple history is I have been diagnosed with acute pancreatitis and then was upgraded chronic p. I have been to a slew of doctors(GP/GIs) who have done numerous tests including multiple ultrasounds, amylase/lipase serums, ct scan with contrast, and a hida scan with all of them showing negative results. My pancreatitis seems to come and go for no apparent reason.
Avatar n tn Did the vet perform a CPLI test to see if your dog had pancreatitis? The causes of vomiting and diarrhea can be many things, such ingestion of a foreign body, ingestion of something toxic, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, parasites, organic causes and more.
Avatar n tn My baby poodle started with a swollen stomach. He had been having diareha also. He is now at the hospial in critical condition. They said that he should needs to have a blood transfusion today. He was given plasma all night last night. But they said that he is not doing good at all and that now his electrolites are low. I am really worried about him. I do not want him to die. Can you please tell me if the swollen stomach and diareaha are from this? i DONT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO.
793908 tn?1294705109 I think it's best to avoid garlic. Garlic and onions are very similar, and onions are a definite no for dogs. Some people do give dogs garlic, and the dogs seem to be ok, but I always think it's best to avoid it. As I said, dogs' sense of taste and smell is something like a hundred times more powerful than ours, so they get the taste of their food very well, and don't need any added seasonings.
Avatar f tn 10 years ago I started with severe abdominal pain diagnosed pancreatitis with amylase levels over 500. I have had my amylase fractionated and it is coming from my pancrease (not salivary or ovarian). Severe acute attacks intermittently managed with pain medication and diet (good days and bad days type of thing) for 5 years before I finally had a CCK HIDA with an ejection fraction of 7%.
Avatar m tn I'm having a pain, stomach cramps and diarrhea/loose stool problem myself. But also on the right and no swelling that I've seen. The doctor thought I might have a problem with my pancreas today with pressing and ordered blood testing and x-rays. I've had extreme pain in my stomach on eating in the past and was diagnosed with gastritis, advised to follow a clear liquid diet I think it was for 72 hours.
Avatar n tn My Amylace levels were at the high end of normal. My doctor thinks I have chronic pancreatitis. I had some problems with my gallbladder a couple years ago and a gallstone was stuck in the pancreatic duct and so I had full blown Acute Pancreatitis. I was told that gallstones can move around in the abdominal cavity for years after. Anyway, I'm being treated for pancreatitis right now. I also have the abdominal pain and it was gettng pretty bad.
1350404 tn?1276782640 I have been told I am low on Vitamin D, B-12, and has chronic pancreatitis. The problem is that I can not go a day without being so nauseated. I had the Neisen Fundeldoplacation Surgery and can not relieve my nausea by regurgitating. I sweat constantly and try to drink Gatorade. I am suppose to see a Liver Specialist soon. I also have no energy and crying all the time. I am basically inbound at home because I never know why I am going to have diarrhea or so dizzy I might fall.
Avatar m tn s what it is, since pancreatitis makes them feel just plain downright LOUSY. Pancreatitis can also cause the other symptoms that you described her as having, it can make her feel weak and wobbly, and nauseous. I would ask them if they think it's a possibility, because if it is, you need to leap on treatment pretty quickly so that it doesn't become a severe case.
1485641 tn?1287974298 I cant say whether or not pesticides are the problem but continued episodes of your dogs vomiting and diarrhea can lead to Pancreatitis which can lead to Diabetes and daily insulin injections. Now is the time to take preventative pet health steps to try to avoid this. My recommendation would be to have your vet run a set of complete blood and urine tests. Then unless the lab tests pinpoint a specific canine health problem, consider a bland home made diet, digestive enzymes and probiotics.
719251 tn?1230340905 My mother has been suffering from Pancreatitis for the past 4months. She has been in hospital three times with severe pain, vomitting, and fluid in the abdominal. In that time she has lots over 25kg. She is 60 years old but since loosing so much weight she looks like 80 years old. She no longer drinks but continues to smoke. What worries me the most is that she eats very tiny amount of food, she vomitts everyday and she is just not getting any better.
Avatar n tn Hi and thanks for your response! I am eating a very low fat diet. In fact I haven't branched out much with my diet as I'm afraid of another attack. I dont know if it was the chicken breast or maybe the overactivity but ended up in the hospital a couple of weeks ago with elevated amylase and lipase. The removal of the gallbladder really set things off for me.
