Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis causes weight gain

pancreatitis

Avatar m tn Hi, I saw a post of a case similar to mine where the liver was affected as well as the pancreas with wieght gain instead of loss on a low fat diet. Im wondering what causes that especially in pancreatitis? I loss alot of weight a year ago, was real sick with abnormal bruising and weakness, falling down, ect, this was before pancreas started acting up again, prior to that I had only one acute episode of pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn I have lost a lot of weight and cannot gain it back. What causes insufficient pancreas, will it lead to pancreatic cancer, what can I eat to gain weight, what can I eat to not have severe pain, and what can I do to stop the constant pain? my email address is marge.
Avatar f tn I have never taken Lithium though so I am not sure what the gain is like with that. Usually the weight gain with meds is about 10lbs and levels off there. Its nothing drastic. Huge congratulations on the weight loss! Talk to your doctor more about your concerns regarding weight gain and the meds. But I didnt have any gain with the depakote. I did however wind up with pancreatitis caused by the med and had to come off it.
Avatar f tn The pain has stoped for me well from a range from 1-10 its at about a 4 now ,ive also have bowel problems which lead me to loose alot of weight and i cant gain it back .
Avatar f tn Late night snacking and poor sleep too can cause weight gain. Polycystic ovary too causes weight gain, hence has to be ruled out by an ultrasound of abdomen. Certain medications like antidepressants cause weight gain. Also the diet should contain more of green leafy vegetables, fruits and protein and less of spaghetti, potato etc.

It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult your doctor and get investigated accordingly for this. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

If the above causes are eliminated then you can join a weight trainer and a nutrition expert and follow their advice and lose weight under their guidance. Hope this helps. Avatar f tn My appetite, sleep and health are generally all fine otherwise, with no noticeable weight loss/gain, no fatigue, no fever. I would say it is more discomfort from bloating/trapped gas rather than pain. Any ideas? Thanks. This discussion is related to pain in left side under rib cage.
Avatar m tn SOME SAY THE PERCOCET CAUSED WEIGHT GAIN. OTHER SAY IT CAUSES WEIGHT LOSE. WOULD VERY MUCH LIKE TO KNOW WHICH IS THE CASE. WORKS WELL FOR PAIN BUT WON;T BE ABLE TO KEEP TAKING IT IF IT CAUSES WEIGHT GAIN.

Avatar f tn Well, victoza will start off making you have nausea, vomiting sometime. You will get past this, it can take up to three months. After that I just kind of never felt right but thought I was just going to have to deal with this the rest of my life! Than about at 10 to 12 months I started to have severe stomach pain which I thought was my gall bladder. I was probably having pancreatic attacks, but never went to the hospital to have blood work; very stupid idea by the way.
Avatar f tn people were just freaking me out because excessive weight gain causes issues for the baby so i was just concerned..you put me at ease..thanks!
Avatar m tn I just heard that Gallbladder Removal causes one to tremendous weight gain? Does anyone know if that is true? If it is true, I may cancel the surgery and deal with the pain and risks of cancer. My days of being fit would be destroyed? or is there a way of continuing to lose weight after Gallbladder removal? Has anyone experienced tremendous weight gains after have their Gallbladder removed?
Avatar n tn i would like to gain weight,i used to have alot of weight while in high skool but wen i finished,my body reduced drastically,i now weigh 56kg ,i hate my weight,i would like to weigh 65-70kg,please help me.
Avatar n tn It could be your meds, thyroid or both. I hope you went to an Endocrinologist for the testing. They can do a more accurate test than a GP. I tried to tell my GP for years that I thought I had thyroid problems, but every test he did came back normal. Finally, he agreed to send me to an Endocrinologist with the explanation that they can do more through testing. Sure enough, I have hypothyroidism. I am now on medication for it.
Avatar f tn Every thing came back normal, was put on an acid reducer, helped the upper half, lower left above my hip hurts, I weighted 125 and I can not get back to that weight, I am 96 pounds, no nurtions(misspelled) are going to my body for me to gain weight.Could it be enzymes? My appt. with a Gastro Doctor is not until next year, I am malnutried.
Avatar f tn Besides alcohol and gall stones other causes for the pancreatitis include hereditary disorders of the pancreas, cystic fibrosis, high triglycerides, and certain medicines. As you wait for the repeat ERCP, go through your medication list and also have a lipid profile done. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance. Hope this helped and do keep us posted.
Avatar f tn FIP is a possibility but I would be more interested in looking at causes of a low serum protein. Low protein causes a buildup of fluid in the abdomen and is often associated with a condition called exocrine pancreatic insufficiency. Protein could be lost via the intestine (protein losing enteropathy) or in the urine (protein losing nephropathy).
