pancreatitis

Avatar m tn I was given a CT scan and put on an IV and fed only ice chips. They wanted to do an EGD to test for ulcers but i refused the test because i was not comfortable with it at the time. The doctors told me that my medication Lisinopril was causing the pancreatitis.I was then released from the hospital the next day, 24th of December,09 because the doctor said there was nothing more they could do for me and there was no reason for to be there.
Avatar n tn Pancreatitis (inflammed pancreas) is very painful and the pain radiates to the back. The pain often occurs shortly after eating. Simple blood .tests can rule this out. The pain is persistant. Stomach ulcers is another guess. You should see your doctor. Well wishes to you!
Avatar m tn or it could be pancreatitis.. if you've been drinking or hitting NSAD's really hard lately..the pain is pretty high with pancreatitis and you'd be doubled over..but not always. A blood test for pancreatitis can be used if you've been drinking a lot.. either way with an ulcer i'd avoid alchohol/tylenol/asprin like the plague. That'll kill your stomach.
Avatar n tn Hello~Causes of left upper quadrant pain include dyspepsia (ulcers, gastritis, esophagitis), pancreatitis, or splenic diseases. You could have a touch of the flu starting too. If pains persists or gets worse, I would see your family physician.
Avatar f tn re headed to an acute bout of pancreatitis and trust me, you do not want that to happen. Pancreatitis often turns into the gift that keeps on giving and becomes a horribly painful, chronic condition. Alcohol abuse is a common cause of pancreatitis and any doctor will tell you that alcohol has to go out of your life forever or you risk another acute attack. Alcohlic hepatitis is another condition high on the list of suspects.
Avatar m tn My family doc thinks I have GERDS, while my Gastro believes I may have chronic pancreatitis. Here are my symptoms: Nearly constant central, upper abdominal pain since August 6, 2010. Pain is gnawing, burning, like heartburn or severe hunger pains. Pain is entirely absent at night while sleeping, and absent first thing in the morning. I sleep well. Pain begins with discomfort when anything is ingested, even water or medication.

Avatar f tn The other causes could be jaundice if there is yellowish discoloration of skin, food poisoning if the symptoms occurred shortly after taking food, peptic ulcer disease and sometimes cholecystitis and pancreatitis. Please consult your primary care physician for further evaluation. In the meantime take oral fluids and OTC acetaminophen for the pain. Regards.
Avatar n tn My Dog Oct 28, 2010 started whining murder when jumping out of vehicle once, she whines inconsistently when turning around on vehicle seat, once in the middle of the night, on palpation of neck and back I can't get her to scream and I am really pushing, I have had her jump down off things and can't get her to whine consistently, I will sometimes just brush up lightly to her or step on a paw lightly and she cries, these cries seem so random, she is guarding herself since the first episode
Avatar m tn The fact that they responded so quickly to drinking ice water a couple of times narrows it down to the diaphragm or stomach. Going for an upper GI to look for ulcers, reflux and other issues that can trigger that kind of pain. So, yay, no pancreatitis. Also going to try an anti-spasmodic if they come back to see if that knocks them out. If so, we have our answer. Starting to bounce back. I keep saying, "One more day and I'll feel better. One more day . . .
Avatar f tn I had asked for this to be done 9 months ago and was told it was too risky of a procedure to perform on Gastric Bypass patients. Anyway, the procedure was performed and showed two ulcers in the stomach pouch/esophogus and also showed that the opening from the bowel into the stomach pouch was extremely small. So, at the time of the Endoscopy, the doctor was able to dilate that opening. He also put my son on Nexium. Approx. 2 weeks have passed and my son in doing better.
Avatar f tn I would suggest a liver panel, blood tests for H Pylori (a bacteria associated with ulcers and inflammation of the stomach), and amylase/lipase for the pancreas. For non-invasive imaging, an ultrasound can be performed to evaluate the gall bladder. However, with your age (50), I would strongly suggest an upper endoscopy. Although not quite non-invasive, this would be the most definitive test to make sure there is not an ulcer, inflammation, or cancer that is causing your symptoms.
658828 tn?1225046595 I have been reading online and think I may have Pancreatitis? Are these symptoms consistent with Pancreatitis? I also have read about Fibromyalgia as well b/c these autoimmune diseases seem to occur together, but I just cant get myself to think that this is just a muscoskeletal pain problem especially since its mainly in the area where my kidneys are located. I have an appt with a GI dr next week so I am hoping i can get some answers.
Avatar n tn pylori infection, peptic ulcers disease, gall bladder disease, pancreatitis and other GI pathologies which can cause such symptoms.Looking at the age,it is also important to get an ECG done.I sincerely advise you to consult a gastroenterologist and get ultrasound abdomen,CT abdomen,ECG and endoscopy (if needed). Hope it helps.Take care and pls do keep me posted on how you are doing.
Avatar f tn They do the scope down the throat to take a look at everything, was a good thing too. I had ulcers, pancreatitis and gall bladder problems. You may have to have a CT scan or even a MRI if your symptoms persist and don't resolve and is causing you great pain or discomfort like it did me. If you are not that bad at the moment with time your symptoms will get worse if you are in doubt about the area or what it may be.
Avatar m tn ve never been very proactice about lifestyle/eating changes to manage the IBS. The bleeding ulcers healed and I have never taken NSAIDS since for chronic back pain. Recently a doctor informed me that caffeine in high doses can worsen ulcers or inflame stomach lining. I was on fat burning pills and an intense workout regimen. At my heaviest I was 275.. I am currently at 175-180 on average. Before I lost the weight this last time I had plateaued at about 230.
Avatar n tn Trouble was I had a really bad Nicorette habit. Low and behold I have chronic pancreatitis and if I chew the gum--the pancreatic pain skyrockets. I would say "YES" Nicorette either causes, triggers, or aggrevates pancreatitis.
1409228 tn?1282343463 My mom had colon cancer at age 34 and I and my two boys all have GI issues. The colonoscopy itself doesn't just show these things but they will typically do biopsies to check for various things. My younger boy was diagnosed as lactose intolerant this way. They also ruled out celiac for him. My older boy will be having a colonoscopy soon to check for various things, including lactose intolerance and Crohn's.
1529270 tn?1291859561 In 2002, I had an acute pancreatitis attack and was hospitalized for 4 days. I was going through a rough divorce and was drinking too much. I abstained for 6 months and have not had a recurrence since that time. In Sept 2009, I was dx with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis. In May 2010, I had laparoscopic Nissen fundoplasty for my GERD which may have contributed to my IPF (I was dx with ulcers in my early 20's).
Avatar n tn My 5 year old has had pancreatitis twice in 4 1/2 months. Once in Nov 2009 and again in April 2010. No cause was found - tested negative for gall bladder issues, negative for cystic fibrosis, cholesterol was normal, no trauma to belly, no family history, no pancreatitic cysts. She did receive a flu shot one month before the first attack, and then received her MMR and Chickenpox vaccine one month before the second attack. Possible connection, we don't know?
