Pancreatitis and probiotics

Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis and probiotics

pancreatitis

Avatar f tn Anything from illness to stress to medication use can skew the number and count of bacterial organisms in the intestinal tract. That, in turn, can quickly or more slowly lead to dysfunction. I believe probiotics can be beneficial for many things, including just general good health. If you do some reading on the subject, you'll find that the chemicals given off by the bacteria may be necessary for the health of the cells in the colon as well as mood and health of the 'mind.
Avatar m tn could is simply be due to bad bacteria that i had diahrea and the probiotics are helping and could this bad bacteria be h.pylori? also amylase raised at 135 is that of a concern? i have had a history of drinking but only socially about 2 years ago and smoking whic i quit 12 months ago.
388261 tn?1215399844 I recently had my gallbladder removed and I was told that yogurt with probiotics will help regulate my bowel again and keep the yeast at bay after all of the antibiotics I have had to take. Is this true? If so, what is the recommended daily intake? Yogurt = yuckie, but I will eat it if it works. There actually are yogurts that don't taste like yogurt. (thank goodness! I am such a food wimp!
Avatar n tn My lower back around the sides hurt all the times, and I just cannot function like a normal human being! I am 27 and 127 pounds. I don't have any menstruation issues, cysts, etc. No longer have a gallbladder as I had that taken out due to pancreatitis Not sure what to do at this point, or what to even tell my Doctor without sounding like a crazy hypochondriac. I don't take meds, other than vitamins. If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it! Thanks!.
Avatar n tn m really worried because I did some research and I read the most common causes for exocrine pancreatic insufficiency are cystic fibrosis (which i dont have) and chronic pancreatitis, and, if you have CP that its not curable and there is a severe lower life expectancy associated with it. Is this all true and does it sound as if I have this?
Avatar m tn Medical, there's got to be an underlying reason for whatever is going on with you. It might be a good idea to try to look into the 'cause' for either the malabsorption or maldigestion you're experiencing. If you have all the enzymes you need, you'd be throwing your money down the toilet, so to speak.
580805 tn?1280772993 Alternatively it could also be due to mild food poisoning. You can take some probiotics and see if it helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar m tn Hi 6man6, After antibiotics it is possible to have a flare of your IBS symptoms, such as pain ,spasm and diarrhea, but especially if this pain is different than your usual IBS pain you should see your doctor to rule out something else going on, like gallstones or pancreatitis or GERD, which can all cause this upper right quadrant and central upper quadrant pains radiating to the back. These things have to be dealt with as soon as possible, as they can become serious if left unchecked.
530522 tn?1212918996 I have a daughter with chronic pancreatitis. She breaks out in hives, head to toe, when given the barium; and must be given more meds to counteract that... What an excellent alternative! From the story: "The study found that the images taken of patients who were given whole milk were just as useful as the images that were taken of patients given the diluted barium..." CT Scans "...
Avatar f tn Anyhow since all this I have found something that has really helped the pain and the nausea and i never thought it would....Probiotics...they are brilliant and for people who are lactose intolerant there are Dairy Free Probiotics...They are called "INNER HEALTH PLUS" ask your chemist and if your ok to try it, then give it a whirl because i am so glad i did. Avatar n tn it is quite possible you have yeast in your sinus and lungs..and even your intestines...I am currently taking Fluconazole 150mg for candida ...ask your physician about lung and sinus yeast infection and see what he says.
Avatar f tn Try following a lower-in-fat diet to see if it's of help. Many people have bowel habit changes after GB surgery and it's possibly due to the fact that they can't process fats the way they did before the surgery. You may also want to consider trying some probiotics - that's the good bacteria you should have in your GI tract but may not have due to dietary changes, illness or medication usage, etc. The only contraindications would be immunosuppression or pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn i am so glad I finally found someone with the same problem as I have, chronic pancreatitis. I have been going on a trial and error diet and don't want to get the pain and misery again! I did broil some chicken breast and had no problems. Also can eat about 2 ounces of tuna packed in water. As the pancreatitis has caused me to be diabetic that also causes problems. I am eating several small meals each day. Wouold be glad of any suggestions that have worked for some body else.
Avatar m tn 2 questions..1 can you just stop taking this if you been on it for over a month and negative side effects from doing so?... reason im thinking about stopping it is i have bile reflux since april and was stable with meds since then..then i starting take florastor at first no problems only positives that came but now im experiencing increase in burning in my stomach chest and throat so the florastor is the only thing ive done differently recently..
1475515 tn?1287189318 I am having a fishy mucous condition that just started a few days ago. I have been on a new probiotic for the past 15 days and I'm concerned that this is the cause of this new condition.
Avatar n tn Trouble was I had a really bad Nicorette habit. Low and behold I have chronic pancreatitis and if I chew the gum--the pancreatic pain skyrockets. I would say "YES" Nicorette either causes, triggers, or aggrevates pancreatitis.
Avatar f tn He had an abcess on his prostate and also pancreatitis. His blood work showed high BUN and creatinine so was also diagnosed with renal failure. After leaving the vet, the doctor put him on Royal Canin LP dry food for renal failure. He is also on Epakitin. It has been almost 2 months and we took him back to be neutered and have blood work done. His blood work showed that his BUN and creatnine had not increased anymore so the food must be doing his kidneys good.
Avatar f tn have you done any stool studies? Severe pain after eating sort of reminds me of pancreatitis, from drinking alchohol or asprin overuse.. but usually that's really sharp pain. Usually it's local in the upper left quadrent..but you could test for that. You could also test for celiac disease, or avoid lactose to see if that helps (takes almost a good week lactose free). You could go see an allergist to see if anything is causing the problem.
Avatar f tn im now being directed to take a gastric emptying study which i already have had done a year ago and those results were normal..my question is...is here a link between pancreatitis and bile reflux? and if so, would it not be indicative of an obstruction (due to the minor dilation) of my pancreatic duct....is there any remedies or speculation around these test results?
Avatar n tn I had hyperparathyroidism and it was my understanding that was separate from my thyroid issue. I'm not sure that is clinically correct though. Hope you get more answers.
Avatar m tn Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver. Im being sent to a pain specialist for the pain, and hoping he can offer relief, because Ive been recieving very little help from my doctor with that. Im 5'5", used to be about 138lbs, and now am 162, with gain of 10lbs a month on a low fat diet, no meat, no bread, soft food. I dont understand except unless wieght gain is from thyroid going wrong, im hypothyroid.
1464587 tn?1307491605 Does anyone else get incredible inflammation in the intestines and chest/lungs from taking probiotics? This is the 2nd time its happened. The first time was with culterelle and it got so bad and to the point I was crying all day at work, almost couldn't walk and breath...... it subsided when I stopped taking them....... I take sustenex and do VERY well on it but it is not enough with taking azithromycin everyday. So I take an additional one now called something flora.....
Avatar f tn I am 35 weeks pregnant and I just fought a urethritis and cervicitis with antibiotics about 2 weeks ago. I can feel like I still have symptoms of an infection because of the smell and color fluids (yellow or light brown)coming out of my vagina. I was wondering if it would be safe for me to use Femina Flora vaginal inserts in form of capsules. It's a dose of probiotics that I thought might help me restore the flora in my vagina and help with any possible candida growth...
666921 tn?1254990618 sometimes a probiotic will add a prebiotic called FOS and for quite a few folks that can cause gas and bloating.
