Common Questions and Answers about Pancreatitis and organic acidemias

pancreatitis

Avatar n tn Did the vet perform a CPLI test to see if your dog had pancreatitis? The causes of vomiting and diarrhea can be many things, such ingestion of a foreign body, ingestion of something toxic, pancreatitis, gastroenteritis, parasites, organic causes and more.
Avatar n tn I'm sorry to hear about your husband. I do not drink and do not smoke, and I still have very bad pancreatitis. I've lived with it for 14-15 years and fight it every day. If your husband drinks and smokes he is hurting himself. I hope that you and your children are getting support from someone. I also hope you have life insurance on your husband! He is killing himself with drinking if he has pancreatitis!
Avatar f tn Hi Tony! I've been voraciously reading your group's postings/answers. My dog was perfectly fine with SLIGHT high BUN (35-38). I put her on the NF diet in an effort to keep the kidney disease at bay, and suddenly her pancreatitis went crazy! She got very ill and didn't want to eat. I tried to put her back on her old food to get her back to normal, but it was too late. She's been hospitalized for four days. Her BUN/Creat "stabilized" at 116/6.7.
1085628 tn?1326551885 I eat a lot of organic stuff, about 60% of what we eat is organic. We live in a small town and organic stuff is hard to come by, or we'd definitely do more. I hope to grow some stuff in a garden this year as well... that would be fun!! ...We tried last year but we ended up putting our daughters playground set over our garden! ha ha! Organic is great, it's the way I like my food. Pesticide and hormone free!!
Avatar n tn Trouble was I had a really bad Nicorette habit. Low and behold I have chronic pancreatitis and if I chew the gum--the pancreatic pain skyrockets. I would say "YES" Nicorette either causes, triggers, or aggrevates pancreatitis.
Avatar f tn 5 (her levels lowered after 48 hours of IV). She is anemic and has pancreatitis and a UTI as well. She has been struggling with loss of appetite (weight loss) and vomiting. I have been giving her daily Sub-Q fluids, Epikitin, Famotidine (10mg), and she is on an antibiotic for her UTI and---for two days an appetite stimulant. Her blood was tested again 23 days later and her BUN 87, Creatinine 6.2, and Phosphorus 9.8 (worse than original).
Avatar m tn Gallstone symptoms started again on Saturday (may 17). I've been very selective with my eating, but I've had several apples, pasta, several helpings of cereal (nature's path organic stuff). I had an ultra sound and was said to have an 11mm stone. I'm very apprehensive about having it removed. How concerned should I be about my lack of bowel movements? I've been urinating just fine.
Avatar f tn im now being directed to take a gastric emptying study which i already have had done a year ago and those results were normal..my question is...is here a link between pancreatitis and bile reflux? and if so, would it not be indicative of an obstruction (due to the minor dilation) of my pancreatic duct....is there any remedies or speculation around these test results?
Avatar f tn He had an abcess on his prostate and also pancreatitis. His blood work showed high BUN and creatinine so was also diagnosed with renal failure. After leaving the vet, the doctor put him on Royal Canin LP dry food for renal failure. He is also on Epakitin. It has been almost 2 months and we took him back to be neutered and have blood work done. His blood work showed that his BUN and creatnine had not increased anymore so the food must be doing his kidneys good.
Avatar n tn I had hyperparathyroidism and it was my understanding that was separate from my thyroid issue. I'm not sure that is clinically correct though. Hope you get more answers.
Avatar f tn He is now eating boiled chicken with rice and organic veggies mixed in. He seems to like this. I am hopeful this never happens again. I have never seen a dog in so much pain. I honestly thought he was going to die and I was distraught. If anyone has any other tips for ongoing treatment of this disease, I would love to hear it. My puppy is my child,(crazy to some I know!) but I never want him, or me to go through anything like that again!
Avatar m tn Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver. Im being sent to a pain specialist for the pain, and hoping he can offer relief, because Ive been recieving very little help from my doctor with that. Im 5'5", used to be about 138lbs, and now am 162, with gain of 10lbs a month on a low fat diet, no meat, no bread, soft food. I dont understand except unless wieght gain is from thyroid going wrong, im hypothyroid.
559187 tn?1330782856 Hi there and welcome, unfortunately this community thread is 9 years old and Julie is no long active, i searched the community looking for similar questions and couldn't find anything rekevant sorry. Hope your husband is ok........
129422 tn?1222699589 dog food) has been having intermittent tummy and obscure pain issues for a month and and half and after 10 trips to vet's office and three blood profiles (one comprehensive one), other than initial dx of pancreatitis, vet is stumped as to what might be wrong. Initially (first week of August), our Maltese did vomit and wouldn't eat (and he always eats voraciously). Taken to vet around first week in August. Xrays showed nothing.

Avatar n tn t really given much say in the matter, as the pancreatitis was a nasty attack and I was strongly advised to get my gallbladder out asap after it. It was a straightforward procedure, with no after effects. I can't really say I felt better, because apart from the pancreatitis incident, I never had any problems beforehand! I do sometimes suffer with the "dumping syndrome" which, whilst unpleasant, doesn't worry me too much as I believe it's normal.
Avatar f tn t seem to care about the Pneumobilia and one Dr seemed to think its normal and I might have it forever, but I am concerned especially about possible infection coming from the small bowel into the Biliary hepatic vessels and also can this air be causing the ongoing Pancreatitis?
Avatar f tn Human grade chicken, fatty meats like lamb, beef and pork (unless there is any pancreatitis present), green tripe, tinned Mackeral in water (rinsed to remove any salt and oil), sticky white rice, tapioca, barley, sweet potato and green beans are all good kd foods. The Hills kd canned is equally good - try adding a teaspoon of organic natural honey on the top to entice your dog into eating it if necessary. Also, try feeding the same daily amount of food but divided into 6 more frequent meals ...
Avatar m tn been suffering from pancreatitis and doctors thinking my gallbladder may be messed up....How common is it to have had a normal HIDA scan with no apparent stones?
Avatar m tn or it could be pancreatitis.. if you've been drinking or hitting NSAD's really hard lately..the pain is pretty high with pancreatitis and you'd be doubled over..but not always. A blood test for pancreatitis can be used if you've been drinking a lot.. either way with an ulcer i'd avoid alchohol/tylenol/asprin like the plague. That'll kill your stomach.
Avatar f tn You might have pancreatitis. That could cause all 3 symptoms, and the elevated enzymes. Other causes of your symptoms would not likely do that. Make sure your doctor checks you thoroughly for pancreatitis.
Avatar m tn Well I/we know she has a drinking problem, she has started drinking again. She said she researched and drinking Red Wine does not hurt her Pancreatitis. In my feeble attempts of research I have not found anything that supports her thought process. What scares me is she was in a Coma for about 5 weeks and came real close to death for the first week or so, the doctors didn't think she was going to live.

Avatar f tn I am a 60 year old female who was diagnosed in the late 80s with acute pancreatitis and still have sporadic trouble today in 2014. A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with hcv and was wondering what effects I would have with the two diseases together, for instance if given treatment for my hep-c will it make my pancreas worse or will I even be able to do the hcv treatment at all?
