1240683 tn?1268232755 The only thing that has shown up is an ulcer in the ileum, low vitamin d, and low testosterone. The testosterone was rechecked after a week of vitamin supplements (particularly vitamin d - 1400mg day), and it came back normal. I've read that low T can be related to low vitamin d. Is this correct? Anyway, my primary question is this, could there be pancreatic insufficiency problems causing malabsorption of nutrients such as vitamin d that is causing the fatigue?
Avatar n tn I had hyperparathyroidism and it was my understanding that was separate from my thyroid issue. I'm not sure that is clinically correct though. Hope you get more answers.
1236313 tn?1295726268 phase when my bones were starving for calcium and I had to take huge doses (5 grams/day) to keep my levels up. (It seemed I had a diet of nothing but calcium tablets! -I'd get full from just taking them!) My surgery was in 2006 and after the "dust" settled, things have been perfect since then. -And the best parts? No more kidney stones or urinating every 1/2 hour!!!
Avatar m tn I am wondering how they can declare they are calcium deposits just from an ultrasound and not a little tumor or something, and why they did not show up on the xray? which calcium deposits normally would. The doctor did not seem that concerned about it. The pain in my right back and side has been pretty intense at times lately. But I would like to avoid a CT until absolutely necessary.
Avatar f tn Low-fat homemade diets To make a low-fat homemade diet, feed about half carbohydrates, and half low-fat meat, eggs, and dairy. The percentage of carbs can be decreased, and the amount of meat increased, if you use very low-fat cuts, or boil them to remove most of the fat. The majority of the carbohydrates should be starchy foods, such as rice, oatmeal, barley, quinoa, pasta, potatoes, sweet potatoes, pumpkin, and winter squashes (e.g., acorn and butternut), to supply low-fat calories.
Avatar f tn Get your serum calcium and lipid profile done to see if high calcium and lipids are a cause of pancreatitis. For more information please refer: http://digestive.niddk.nih.gov/ddiseases/pubs/pancreatitis/ Hope this helps. Do let me know if there is any thing else and keep me posted. Take care!
Avatar n tn Trouble was I had a really bad Nicorette habit. Low and behold I have chronic pancreatitis and if I chew the gum--the pancreatic pain skyrockets. I would say "YES" Nicorette either causes, triggers, or aggrevates pancreatitis.
Avatar m tn Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver. Im being sent to a pain specialist for the pain, and hoping he can offer relief, because Ive been recieving very little help from my doctor with that. Im 5'5", used to be about 138lbs, and now am 162, with gain of 10lbs a month on a low fat diet, no meat, no bread, soft food. I dont understand except unless wieght gain is from thyroid going wrong, im hypothyroid.
Avatar n tn i am so glad I finally found someone with the same problem as I have, chronic pancreatitis. I have been going on a trial and error diet and don't want to get the pain and misery again! I did broil some chicken breast and had no problems. Also can eat about 2 ounces of tuna packed in water. As the pancreatitis has caused me to be diabetic that also causes problems. I am eating several small meals each day. Wouold be glad of any suggestions that have worked for some body else.
Avatar n tn My girlfriend had her thyriod removed about a year ago and had all sorts of problems with her calcium and the bodies ability to take up the calcium from the tablets and they had to give her another smaller tablet (says the calcium tablets 8 four times a day where like horse tablets) to help the absorption in the end she was able to bring her tablets down to two 4 times a day with the help of this other tablet. I can ask her for you if you wish.
Avatar f tn I had my TT two years ago and still take calcium. Two parathyroids were removed during surgery, and the remaining two have not resumed working. It is important to get your calcium levels checked. I get tested every 3 weeks, and have really just recently got my levels where they should be. I take 1000iu VitD with the calcium to help with absorption. I know when my calcium is too low because I get muscle spasms. Good luck.
Avatar f tn I had one of my parathyroids transplanted into my neck and the other 3 were left intact. I had severe low calcium issues for a while, but now, (5 months post-op) everything seems to be normal calcium wise. I still take calcium & vit.D but only the typical amount that the average woman should take. . .nothing like the massive doses I was for the first few months. How are you feeling?
Avatar f tn Prior to the pancreatitis, he sporadically leaked urine at night, but about a week before his pancreatitis emerged, it progressed significantly to every night, and during the day during long periods of sleep. This has naturally persisted, along with classical symptoms of increased water intake.
Avatar f tn Steroids, mumps, Epstein Barr Virus and Cytomegalovirus, Lupus and other immune diseases, very high calcium, lipids and triglycerides, drugs: sulfa drugs, steroids, NSAID use, diuretics, duodenal ulcer, diabetic drugs especially Byetta. The drugs could be a problem for both the pancrease and liver too. If you have been taking Byetta for diabetis it is very important to get treatment for that right away. I would say there is cause for concern but you are getting it checked out.
1385505 tn?1279549173 Are your vitamin D levels between 50-80 if not you are dehydrated because you cannot absorb calcium properly which leads to dehydration and then anything can go wrong
Avatar m tn With low Vit D and low phosphate, you could be having parathyroid gland problem and should consult an endocrine specialist regarding this. If there is pain on pressing the point, then you could be having costochondritis. This causes pain and tenderness at points where your ribs attach to your breastbone. The inflammation around the joint area gives sharp pain on taking a breath. This can also cause tenderness on pressing the area which pains. An orthopedic doctor can diagnose this for you.

Avatar f tn m having lots of pain, vomiting, nausea and diarrhea but lately my lipase and amylase levels have been low. The doctor said my pancreas is sluggish and work like it should and this is why my blood levels are normal. Can anyone tell me if exocrine pancreatic insufficiency affects lipase and amylase levels during a pancreatitis flare up? Also has anyone ever had normal blood levels with pancreatitis?
Avatar n tn m feeling good otherwise and not having constant pain and hoping it will continue by eating very low fat and being very strict.
Avatar n tn I am undergoing treatment for pancreatitis, I am 29 yrs old and not an alcoholic. What precautions I should take while undergoing treatment ? what are the chances of recovering from this disease?
Avatar f tn I have systemic lupus and am otherwise healthy. I am 52 years old, do not smoke or drink at all. I have low Vitamin D and take a D and calcium supplement. I also have GERD and a small hiatal hernia. I took Prevacid for about four months but have been off of it for three months now. I recently had a bout of lime-green colored stool that lasted for 24 hours and then cleared up.
Avatar n tn t an organ you can readily do without, and having even small amount of damage done by low-grade (or worse) pancreatitis just isn't worth thinking about. Please see the doc. In this can it's better to be thought 'nuts,' than to over look symptoms. If it is pancratitis, make sure you're checked for autoimmune pancreatitis.
