pancreatitis

Avatar m tn She had one day of lethargy, not eating, and staggering when she walked. We took her to the vet the next day and she died. Her urine was filled with blood. I had fed her some fatty foods two days before. Could I have contributed to her death through pancreatitis? What did I do wrong?
Avatar m tn The use of the antipsychotic medication Seroquel has been linked to an increased risk of diabetes, pancreatitis and death. Thousands of Seroquel lawsuits have been filed throughout the United States by individuals who suffered severe and life threatening injuries.
Avatar f tn i have had 3 lots of ERCP and like any proceedure there are risks, pancratitus is one of them, death is very rare but can happen! they have to tell you about the risks... death is unlikely and certainly not 20% maybe your niece was given so much info and then info on risks and panicked and got muddled with the risks. try not to worry.
Avatar m tn Well I/we know she has a drinking problem, she has started drinking again. She said she researched and drinking Red Wine does not hurt her Pancreatitis. In my feeble attempts of research I have not found anything that supports her thought process. What scares me is she was in a Coma for about 5 weeks and came real close to death for the first week or so, the doctors didn't think she was going to live.
Avatar f tn Dogs are not made to digest human food as we prepare it for ourselves, and the fats in the foods that we eat are horribly bad for even healthy dogs, but they are a death sentence for a dog with pancreatitis. Please contact your vet as soon as you can and tell them what happened and let them take it from there. More medication may be in order to get her back to where she should be at this point. Please let us know how things go.
Avatar f tn Acute pancreatitis is most commonly caused by gallstones and alcohol. However, other mechanical factors may cause acute pancreatitis due to obstruction of the pancreatic duct and ischemia of the pancreas. We describe the first case of a parastomal hernia causing acute pancreatitis." There is information on the web if you place the question in your search engine.
Avatar n tn I had to put my 11 year old Llhasa apso to sleep yesterday because he was diagnosed with pancreatitis and was in so much pain that they could not guarantee that he would survive even with treatment. It came on suddenly...he was fine Saturday but began throwing up in the middle of the night and continued...he couldn't even hold down water and was very weak. I took him into the veterinary hospital on Sunday and he was too weak to come home.
Avatar n tn Trouble was I had a really bad Nicorette habit. Low and behold I have chronic pancreatitis and if I chew the gum--the pancreatic pain skyrockets. I would say "YES" Nicorette either causes, triggers, or aggrevates pancreatitis.
Avatar n tn Ask what might ha,ve caused the pancreatitis. I believe pancreatitis can take time to resolve, and it is quite painful. I think that's why he is panting and uninterested in food.
Avatar f tn im now being directed to take a gastric emptying study which i already have had done a year ago and those results were normal..my question is...is here a link between pancreatitis and bile reflux? and if so, would it not be indicative of an obstruction (due to the minor dilation) of my pancreatic duct....is there any remedies or speculation around these test results?
Avatar m tn Our 15 year old Yorkie died in my arms Thanksgiving day she had pancreatitis and a heart murmur was on Vet m Din and Enalipril her food was changed by local vet to Royal Canin low fat witch made her drink a lot of water witch she never did before with old food this food also has sodium could of this change of food brought on a massive heart attack?
Avatar f tn Too-fatty pork could cause pancreatitis, as could any food which is too fatty, but a little meat, and chewing on a shoulder bone....I can't see that causing his death... Dogs do know we love them. Dogs are intelligent creatures. They don't think exactly the way we think, but they have very deep feelings, and bonds they make with us run VERY deep. When we show them affection -even silently -they know exactly what is going on.
Avatar n tn I had hyperparathyroidism and it was my understanding that was separate from my thyroid issue. I'm not sure that is clinically correct though. Hope you get more answers.
Avatar m tn The reason we recommend removal of the gallbladder in patients with symptomatic gallbladder disease is because they have a 1 in 3 chance of developing a significant complication such as acute cholecystitis, pancreatitis, cholangitis, etc. The risk of death when we are forced to deal with folks in the face of one of these complications rises 100 fold. So, you can opt for elective gallbladder removal. Regards.
Avatar m tn Now its been basically non-stop, confirmed by mri, that it is chronic pancreatitis, and fatty liver. Avatar n tn t really given much say in the matter, as the pancreatitis was a nasty attack and I was strongly advised to get my gallbladder out asap after it. It was a straightforward procedure, with no after effects. I can't really say I felt better, because apart from the pancreatitis incident, I never had any problems beforehand! I do sometimes suffer with the "dumping syndrome" which, whilst unpleasant, doesn't worry me too much as I believe it's normal.
Avatar f tn t imagine a world without him, and unfortunately he has Chronic Pancreatitis. His CP causes awful, painful nights and even days, so I stand by his side and aid him. He doesn't usually say when he's not feeling good, because truly I think it's all the time, but he has better days then some. I love being intimate with him, sometimes I miss it and sometimes I know I need to tend to his needs more than worry about sex.
Avatar m tn any ,,and i mean any consumption of alcohol can cause your pancreas to start the downward spiral of pancreatitis, and death usualy follows withen 5-7 years after diagnosis.
Avatar f tn I am just now seeing this discussion. Afraid I can't be of much help. I did see your other post on the peeing issue. I did look up the medications and don't see any red flags other then Pepcid should be used with caution in dogs with kidney and liver problems. I doubt your Vet would prescribe this if he felt it was not appropriate. Myself and many people I know, my kids included, have often used this with no adverse effects.
Avatar f tn t seem to care about the Pneumobilia and one Dr seemed to think its normal and I might have it forever, but I am concerned especially about possible infection coming from the small bowel into the Biliary hepatic vessels and also can this air be causing the ongoing Pancreatitis?
Avatar f tn But many of them appear fine and fit and well, until they suddenly get a bleeding internal tumour. This can give no warning. Blessings to your little dog's Soul. He surely is in a better place where there is no pain and will be waiting for you.
Avatar m tn been suffering from pancreatitis and doctors thinking my gallbladder may be messed up....How common is it to have had a normal HIDA scan with no apparent stones?
Avatar m tn or it could be pancreatitis.. if you've been drinking or hitting NSAD's really hard lately..the pain is pretty high with pancreatitis and you'd be doubled over..but not always. A blood test for pancreatitis can be used if you've been drinking a lot.. either way with an ulcer i'd avoid alchohol/tylenol/asprin like the plague. That'll kill your stomach.
Avatar m tn thanks for the coment ,ive always felt like the CT scan missed what the problem was, i mean i went down the list of symptoms from Chronic pancreatitis and Panc Cancer, and it was 6 for Yes and 1 for no on CP and it was 4 yes and 4 no for panc cancer, not that u can go,oh u have CP ,because of that, but ive been having these symptoms since June 6th 2013,my GI doctor 1st thought IBS,so i went two months with trying to fix ,went back after the two months ,he did the CA 19-9 and the CBC,and now co
