Painful lump in neck

Common Questions and Answers about Painful lump in neck

lump

About 5 days ago I discovered a lump on the right side in my neck. It is painful to the touch and when I look to the left and swallow, it hurts. I know it can't be my thyroid because I had that removed 2 years ago. It seems to be about the size of a marble. Since Cancer runs in my family, I am a little freaked out about it. Unfortunately, I am a smoker-- but not a "chain smoker". A pack will last me 2-3 days.
Last saturday i woke up with a painful lump on my neck, each day it is getting bigger and alot more painful. The pain seems to have spread to my ear and causing ear ache, i am getting really bad headaches and pain in my chin has started too. I have recently come across a small lump in the right side of my neck located just past the halfway point of my neck and slightly towards the back (behind my ear as opposed to in front of it). The lump is not painful, hard, and I can move it slightly up and down, and it's not round more of and oval shape. I don't smoke or drink, I am however tired all the time.
Last week, I started to feel the pain in my front lower neck. I can feel a lump on my front neck on the left. It hurts when I swallow. Sometimes the pain traveled through the back of my left ear. I feel like something is stuck in my throat. I did not have a fever. Sometimes I feel hot but when I took my temperature, it was normal around 98.6 F. My voice changes sometimes. My voice sounds hoarse when I just woke up. Is it thyroid cancer or hyperthyroidism?
Hello my name is Michael and i am concerned about a lump i have found in my neck, i believe its between C6 & C7 but not absolutely sure, i have had a dramatic increase in severe headaches of late, i also have periodic episodes which leave me disoriented and occasionally my hands spasm, i am unsure whether these are related but thought it wise to mention, I have been aware of the lump for two weeks now and it is not painful to manipulate but feels solid and out of place.
I am awaiting results. I have been in a severe car accident over 13 years ago and have had 5 neck surgeries and live day to day with pain. I have a high pain threshold. The fact that my breast and under my arm rose above my daily pain levels is troubling to me. Also, having done a little research into the bone scan. I was sent for a breast scan but was called back for a total body scan.
My doctor comfirmed that she could feel a lump under my right arm and also one in my right boob. My arm is painful to move also. I have recently had a mammagram and ultra sound scan to be told that all is fine. I have yet to make an appointment with my GP to discuss my results. Has anyone else suffered with similar and if so what was the outcome. Im so relieved that it was not cancer but am frustrated as to what is causing such discomfort.
An abscess can be hot or warm if it is infective due to bacteria and it can be cold without heat if it is a tubercular abscess. In your case since the lump is not painful an abscess other than tubercular is ruled out and so also folliculitis is more or less ruled out. You may be well, yet a lymph node can swell in response to a local infection, dermatitis or due to dandruff in hair. It can also be an acne. Rarely is it a bony tumor like osteoma.
hi I have a lump on my neck and a low absolute Lymphocytes count my dr sent me for a cat scan today can u explain to me why she sent me for a cat scan and not a biopsy?
I have a marble sized lump on the right side of my neck where you would feel for a pulse, under the jawline. It's hard, not attached to the skin. I've had it for about four months and it isn't painful at all. I can't see it looking in a mirror, but can feel it. My health is fine otherwise. Should I be concerned?
Dr. R My son has developed a dime size lumps in the neck area in the area of the external jugular vein at the middle of that prospected area. He's had a sore throat since the start of this. The lump is painful, but only to palpation. The lump feels more so hard that at a soft nature. Could you elaborate on what this could ppossibly be.
3 hours ago a hard lump about golf ball size appeared under my jaw, left side between chin and ear. Not painful to touch, but slight discomfort swallowing. It seems to go up and down in size.
Enlarged (but a lot smaller than the lump below my clavicle) Hard Painless Moves when I touch it (the lump below my clavicle doesn't) I'm not sick or anything. No fever, chills, night sweats, loss of appetite etc. I just get headaches, but I have had migraines since I was little so it's normal to me. So I'm not sure if I should be more or less worried! I really just want to find out what this is! CT scan should show it since they are doing my left clavicle and neck.
I just recently found a small lump on my 2.5 year old daughter's neck and after researching it seems to be in the area of the posterior cervical nodes. It doesn't seem to be painful to her, it moves around under the skin and although is firm does have a little give to it. It isn't warm to the touch nor is the skin red and it isn't noticeable unless you feel for it or she bends her neck.
The wrist pain has a lump in the area of my radial artery on my right side. My neck is stiff and also has a painful lump in the area of my external jugular vein. I don't know if they have anything to do with eachother, are serious, or whether I am just being paranoid. Can you help?
