Pain neck near ear

Common Questions and Answers about Pain neck near ear

neck

I have been reading about my symptoms and it sounds a lot like this, since the jaw and ear started hurting. (plugged feeling in the ear) Also right side neck pain for a few days a couple of weeks ago. (I just assumed I slept on it wrong or something).
As I hit a high note (poorly) I immediately felt pain radiate from the same spot in my neck up to my ear. The pain this time wasn't as strong. I don't feel any pain if I hit a low tone in my voice. I'm lost as to what it could be and I think it's something as well as TMJD. Have I strained something in my neck that could cause that pain to radiate to the ear? Any help would be greatly appreciated. P.S.
could the nodules be in any way related to ear neck shoulder pain????? I forgot to mention the nodules to the GP last week ...she looked at my ear bc of my complaint and said it looked fine. Today they will probably call to tell me my blood tests where normal...I guess I will mention to the receptionist about the neck and ear pain and nodules... My eye doc wanted me to call him about glucose test to make sure this wasn't the cause of the change. A1c was normal.
I developed this lump under my skin near my right ear/jawline. It has been present for approximately 3 months and has doubled in size and is now approximately the size of a quarter. It started during a shingles episode, although I did not have a shingles outbreak in this part of my body. However, it started as neck fullness in that area which developed into a lump along my jaw line area that has persistently gotten larger over the past 3 months.
It hurts to turn my head to the right (keep in mind it is my left ear that hurts) and touching my ear causes near vomit inducing pain. There is a spot just below my ear that if I massage it, the pain subsides for a minute or two and then starts back up. Usually, if I can lay still and/or go to sleep the pain goes away and may not resurface for several days but always comes back. I went to an ear doctor but since it wasn't an actual infection he did not offer much help.
)) Otalgia, or ear pain can be 1-primary (ear pain resulting from pathologic conditions of the ear itself) where other signs of inflamation or ear examination could easly point at it.
Is it specific to one side of your neck? Could it be a saliva gland and not a nasal passage? It could be a salivary gland stone. If it seems like it comes and goes, gets worse when you do something that could cause you to get dehydrated (drinking lots of caffeine, not drinking enough fluid, drinking alcohol) - it might be a salivary gland stone. You will feel "clogged/swollen" on one side of your neck near the jaw - it can feel like an ear infection at times.
and I had the ear pain, it felt as though someone jabbing me with an ice pick....and I also had jaw pain....I would wake some days and it felt that I slept in a position that my jaw held my whole body up....which I know is not so....I also use to get this weird spasm when I would yawn in my throat/neck... Most of that is all gone with my surgery...the fact it is neuro it is hard to track down it does not leave a trace....or tracks as to what it could be...Chiari is very sneaky.
Anyways mid way through the holiday I had pain on the right side of my neck and a little in my ear as the holiday progressed the pain was less apparent. The pain was not chronic but more of a nuisance like a muscle ache in the neck and a feeling of a clogged ear. Now somewhat 3 weeks after the holiday I have had the same feelings in ear and neck near enough everyday since. They are not excruciating but as I say they just feel as a muscle ache.
I get this pain that is peirceing pain from what feels like the center of my ear. Then the pain begins to travel side of my nose and mouth. There are times the pain goes further down to my neck and chest. The pain at times can leave me near paralized. My genral Dr. belives it is nerve damge I question this because yhe lack of any real test. I had been rush to the hospital with them thinking it was my heart that check out and it is ok. But where and why dose this pain come?
I'm wondering if anyone has or is experiencing ear pain (eye pain/dull headache)? My thyroid levels were high/abnormal about 3 months ago, last month I was retested and they were low. But there is something that is worrying me, burning pain in my right ear (sometimes my left). The right side of my neck and my goiter swell up also. I have some kind of ball like a pimple or big mole behind my right ear, it hurts when I press.
Back in June, I took a really long road trip with friends. 13 hours each way. During the trip, I had pain that radiated from my neck to my upper back and into my arm. At first, I thought it was a muscle strain. But after a month, it did not go away. Naturally, went to the doctor who diagnosed me with "cervical somatic dysfunction" and sent me off to physical therapy. The official paper diagnosis said I had a neck sprain.
This probably represents some irritation of a nerve in the neck that supplies sensation to the ear. It could also be due to "referred" pain from an area of irritation near the ear. In either case, I strongly believe that it will disappear completely with time.
I too am having problems with ear pain, stiff neck, jaw pain, sinus pain and it all started with a fever and flu like symptoms. I am scheduled for a root canal on Thursday. I will let you know if it has all been related to my teeth. My dentist told me that the root of this tooth is very close to my sinuses. I felt like I had a sinus infection and an ear infection. The fever was two days after I had a crown put in.
My symptoms in January were severe pain in my right ear, ringing in my right ear, sinus pressure and severe headaches, sharp pain in my right eye and face and right side of nose, sore throat in upper right side near ear, it felt like an elephant was stepping on my back, my neck felt constricted, started noticing that I sounded like a teenage boy because my voice would sometimes make that hoarse sound that teenage boys make.

I have very severe inner ear pain in both ears followed by all over body pain from head to toe. I had bad ear infections when I was young and in my 20's. The severe ear pain started when I was over worked and became very ill. I have had the severe pain off and on for years ever since. It is like a migraine at times because light and sound do bother me. I also have allergy related asthma. Is there anything that I can do besides use pain medication to prevent such pain.
Ear pain, sore throat. CT HEAD CT head before and after contrast infusion of 100 ml of Omnipaque-300. There is some artifact secondary to metallic dental fillings near the base of skull. The brain midline is normal without shift or mass effect. There is slight ventricular dilatation. Mild cortical atrophy changes are seen. No focal brain lesion is observed or mass or hemorrhage. No unusual enhancement pattern is seen postcontrast. Impression: Mild ventricular prominence.
Within several minutes of wearing the new earrings, I developed acute left ear pain that radiated down my neck. My right ear tolerates earrings without any discomfort. The ear pain only occurs when I attempt to wear an earring in my left ear lobe. I have seen several physicians...but unfortunately none have offered a reasonable explanation or diagnosis. It was interested to read that others have experience ear pain related to earrings.
my neck kind of hurts now, it wasn't really before the suddon ear pain. i know when the water was stuck i kept putting my finger in my ear like u do when u have an ear infection and doing the suction thing or popping thing idk but anyways i was wondering if somehow it hurt my ear? i dont know. but the pain is my eardrum or deeper, definatly not the canal. that or i hit my eardrum with a q-tip again..
This can occur spontaneously in people with certain conditions that affect the blood vessels, after neck trauma, or after chiropractic manipulation of the neck. The pain is often but not always associated with some sort of neurologic deficit as a dissection can often lead to a stroke. A dissection is diagnosed with a specific type of MRI test (MRA with fat saturation) or a CT angiogram. I agree with following up with a physician for this.
I have got a pain in the neck . Swollen Lynph Noid, chest pain particurly at night. The pain in my chest keeps me from falling asleep until I am very tired. It feels like someone took out my heart and scraped it on the street and put it back (like you fell and scraped your knee on your bike). In the morning it is gone. I notice it bothers me sometimes throughout the day but at night (every night it is terrible). Sometimes I have pain under my tongue. By the way this is all on my left side.
For the last 7-8 months, Ive been experiencing inner ear pain (below the earlobe, down the side of the neck - which is quite severe), and neck pain, at the front of my throat along the right side of my windpipe. At first, I thought it was my thyroid - so I had it checked and it was fine. My GP of course, made me feel like I was out of my mind and told me to take vitamins.
I have blurriness since all the symptoms started happening. I feel I have slight pressure in my head especially near the back of my left ear. I do need to often pop my ears to ease the pain slightly. I do feel much better if I lay down. I feel slight stiffness in the neck. I went to an ENT yesterday and they could not determine if I had an infection in the ear. They assumed it maybe an infection which will pass by over several months!
he said that there is nothing to worry just ignore ringing. but after three month i have a light pain around my ear and neck muscales. what should i do?,what it can be?
it's like a burning sensation inside my ear, with crust inside it (i can feel it if i stick my finger inside), and it feels wet and swollen deep inside too. it's also tender outside my ear, like on the backside of the ear, near my hairline. also, bc i don't get water in my ears, if i can help it, my ears do tend to be "dryer" than normal and i get white gunk out of my right ear a lot. could this be another swimmer's ear infection that i've accidently acquired?
