Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Generally pain in the back portion of the head and neck pain originate from the neck problems due to irritation in the cervical (neck) spine since the nerves that supply the back of the head start in the upper cervical spine. Mostly, this kind of head pain aggravates after turning head and typically occurs in patients with previous neck injuries and in patients with marked arthritis of the upper cervical spine.
Avatar n tn Iam a 32 year old female with sharp, piercing pain on the right side of my head. The pain spreads down into my neck. My right eye has become red, watery, and puffy, my eyelid seems to droop. I have a cluster of three lymph nodes that are swollen in my neck just below my right ear. This has lasted about three weeks….In need of relief any idea what this may be???
Avatar n tn i am now able to turn my head but everyday walking, sitting down, driving results in chronic neck pain. i am unable to keep my neck straight as the pain is too strong . this is most significant on my right side, with visible muscle spasms on the right. i cannot do tasks day to day without pain. had xrays and ct scans which show slight deteriotion in c5 and c6 disks. muscle relaxatants, steroid shots, physio, chiro, and osteo can't treat the problem.
Avatar n tn s been treated for muscle tension in the neck causing tension headaches. His neck muscles are tense and he actually has two bumps at the base of his skull where the muscles attach because they are so knotted. If you asked him to describe where his headaches originate though, he says it's at the bottom of his skull, not his neck. So my question is, those of you with CM, do you have tense muscles in the neck?

Avatar m tn s and nerve compression in the cervical area is they contribute to loss of muscle tone. And cause muscle atrophy. Muscle tone is what keeps the head upright and pulls the vertebra away from one another. For some reason (probably obsolete protocol) large numbers of physicians prescribe muscle relaxants when there is cervical nerve compression. Decades ago they wanted me to have a cervical fusion, which I declined.
Avatar m tn I'm recently dx, April 2011. I've suffered on and off in the passed with neck pain, it hurts just to hold my head up. Does anyone else suffer from this? Is this even a symptom of ms? I feel like things I ignored in the past may have been symptoms that I didn't realize.
Avatar f tn A few months ago I twisted my neck and felt a pop. I had severe pain and had very little range of motion. The pain begins at the base of my skull on the left and right side. I thought the pain would resolve on its own but it hasn't. I have been to a chiropractor, but ended up gettting severe muscle spasms in my neck. I have been to a massage therapist many times, which helps temporarilly, but I cannot afford to go weekly to keep those going. Is there anything else I can do for my neck?

Avatar m tn After the yawn occurred, I experienced massive head pain. The pain did not stop, and has continued threw the week. And I also have experienced the neck pain every so often. But now, after over talking/volunteering, I'm experiencing the pain non stop, And my head hurts quite a lot. Also when I lay my head down I can feel a very hard beat in my head. I feel the pain also moves to my teeth, and even down my chest. I'm very worried to what this might be.
Avatar f tn It could be related to the muscle spasms in your neck and shoulders, or the muscle spasms could be caused by your severe head pain. Either way, this needs to be checked out as soon as possible. Good luck.
Avatar n tn Without medication pain level is above 10, after medication pain level is 9. My pain is so severe that it appears to lock the turning of my neck to the right. I am asking for any help regarding if there is exercises for this type of problem. My mornings after waking are the worse for me. I have been sleeping with 2 pillows under my legs, flat on my back, and 1 pillow under my head but this doesn't seem to be helping either. Is there any help for me?
Avatar n tn I have been suffering from head, neck and shoulder pain for about 6 months. I changed chairs, pillows etc and improved my posture . My doctor prescribed pain killer and muscle relaxers. I never took muscle relaxers on a regular basis except every now and then when the pain is very severe . Last week, the pain was severe so I took muscle relaxers and stayed home. No improvement, 2 days later I woke up in the middle of the night trembling, felt nauseaus, dizzy.
Avatar n tn Headaches, heart muscle problems, fatigue, muscle stiffness, muscle pain, tics, twitches, spasms, etc. can be caused by a magnesium deficiency. Magnesium is essential to healthy muscle and nerve function and relaxation. Do some google research on magnesium deficiency and you will find a wealth of information. Some of the safer and more effective forms of magnesium include: Taurate, Glycinate, and Citrate (latter can be laxitative -- take with food).
Avatar n tn I would think your neck nodes were swollen. Since you are sick, you may be lying in bed with more pillows and bending your neck wrong. It's just not unusual to have neck pain when you are sick, although a very stiff neck can be a sign of meningitis, so be sure you keep that in mind.

Avatar f tn My son, age 37, has severe back, neck, and head pain. He has had numerous tests, the shots, etc. There is a lot of muscle loss in his left arm. The EMG test indicates it is not a nerve problem. One Dr said c1,2 are problematic, as well as c5,6,7. The neurologist visit yesterday was of no help. He said, his best suggestion is to try the shots again.. I think he needs to see a second neurologist. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Avatar f tn ve been experiencing a tight kind of pulled sensation on the left side of my head. This feeling runs from the top of my head, neck to the ear and to the left side of my neck. I also get occasional jabbing sensations on the top of my head! Is anyone else out there with the same symptoms. The only thing that's different is that I've started to lift slightly heavier weights while exercising. I should also mention when I get a real headache it's always on the left side.
