Avatar n tn pain in neck on rt side and base of neck has large lump, sometimes my right hand goes cold like it has no circulation
Avatar n tn 5 with Titanium cages. I have severe compression in that area. In addition I had terrible neck pain. No numbness or tingling in either hands or feet. My friends were very worried about my having this surgery which is done through the neck, since I have COPD. One friend discovered the Bonnie Prudden book and taught herself to do Myotherapy. She tried in on my entire body in four separate sessions. By the end of the sessions my pain was gone completely.
1099201 tn?1338180918 i to have reallly bad neck pain i am schedule for an biopsy of my thyroid. so tired of pain. anybody ever had a biopsy ,tell me about it.
Avatar f tn I am having the same trouble with my neck, it starts in the back of my neck goes along my shoulder and into my arm. Has even caused some numbness. I was diagnosed with FM last summer but pretty sure I've had it much longer than that. I recently had an MRI to find out what is going on with my neck, shoulder and arm. I was thinking that it is part of the FM but more severe in that area.
Avatar n tn When patients have this type of pain, there are very sore spots in the sides of the neck above and below C6, as well as at the area of your pec minor muscle, beneath your clavicle.
Avatar f tn I too would like to know if the can can be in your back. I have no upper right stomach pain but do have pain in my right shoulder blade area. I do have my gall bladder.
Avatar n tn first of all the the disc problem is not usually seen in the levels which you have mentioned .usually it occurs in c 56 level.the pain you get in shoulder area is from nerve irritation from disk prolapse.consult a doctor and do the MRI scan of cervical spine if the symptoms are severe .
Avatar f tn s been having a reoccurring pain/swelling around the neck/jaw area (right hand side - around wisdom tooth but its not that). Sharp kind of pain that suddenly appears and is similar to nerves being trapped more or less. We have seen dentist, doctors and done x-rays, ultra sounds and so on but everything appears to be fine. It calms down with antibiotics but its no cure... Do you have any advice what could be causing this?
Avatar f tn I found, too, if I placed a cool cloth over my thyroid area, it seemed to help with the pain. I also took, aleve to help ease the pain; however, your doctor has recommended motrin, so that's what you should use. Be sure not to rub or irritate the thyroid area -- this seems to really get the antibodies in an uproar!! While getting well can be a long drawn out process, I hope you both get to feeling better soon.
Avatar f tn Apply warm compresses on the area and take some over the counter anti-inflammatory pain killer like Iburpofen after consulting your doctor. Application of topical muscle relaxants will also help. It is also better if you correct any posture imbalances that you may have, whether in a sitting posture or in a standing posture and use a correct size pillow.
Avatar n tn it is very uncomfortable and i can certainly wait it out for another week or so to see if the pain will go away. it is not a constant pain, however, when i feel the pain, it radiates. Does it sound like the thyroid or something else?
Avatar n tn It occurred 7 years ago, and am still recovering. The pain from my neck to my finger tips can be terrible on some days. Fortunately, the surgery itself was not invasive. Small cut at the neck line, that is barely noticeable now. Recovery wasn't bad either, except for the pain in the arm. The surgeon did tell me, and continues to tell me, "it was nothing he did!" Thus, I don't know what happened! ;-( Drill the doctor with as many questions as you can.
670877 tn?1225808525 My regular physician is very uncomfortable with the chiro adjusting my neck. He says it is unsafe due to the lack of support in the area around your spine where it meets your brain. I am confused as to what to do. Should I push for a MRI to see exactly what the problem is? As we speak, my ear and neck feels funny. I am so tired of not feeling well. When I am working on my thesis and typing the pains are worse and my arms get so tired.
Avatar f tn I also had bone density test done and my results came back as having osteopenia in neck area. Went for physical therapy took medication doesnt seem to help..
592323 tn?1220549358 I have been having severe neck pain, numbness and tingling in hands, arms and legs, IBS, bowel discomfort, loss of vision in right eye, black spots in my left eye, sudden sharp pains to my head, trouble concentrating, irritability, and numbness in the right side of my face. My arm went extremely numb one night in bed and I thought I was having a heart attack. Most of my symptoms are only on one side of the body. This has been going on for years and worsened.
1960024 tn?1355014582 I have had pretty severe Pain in the back of my neck that radiates into the back of my head for about 5 months now. I've seen my Dr. and at first he said a pulled muscle then when it did not go away he tried PT, still no relief so he tried these shots that numbed the area for a couple hours, but that was it. There's also lumps now, at my hairline and in the mid neck close to the spine, I decided to see another Dr.
Avatar f tn I also have ddd, spinal stenosis, and fibromyalgia. I can relate to your neck and head pain most. I have bad disc in my neck and low back. The pain in my neck is the worst. I had a spinal cord stimulator implanted on Feb. 10th, but it quit working (I guess I did something I shouldn't have and pulled a wire loose) so now I have to have more surgery to fix it. Anyhow, have you had an MRI of your neck? I would think that might be a good place to start.
Avatar n tn yes i have severe pain in my neck and sholder on my right side .and its causeing sever headaches.
666921 tn?1254990618 all I had was phone call abour MRI results. Yes I do get problems other than neck pain but do not know what pressure on nerves can cause other than pain!! Am I right in thinking that LYME can cause the arthritis? What causes the extremely stiff neck that some Lyme patients experience at on set. I presume it is muscle tension-I guess unrelenting tension in neck/shoulder area can start to impact on the skeleton by pulling etc; I haven't ruled out Lyme.
Avatar n tn precipitation of head pain by neck movement or awkward neck positions, head pain when external pressure is applied to the neck or occipital region, restricted range of motion of the neck, and neck, shoulder and arm pain. Treatment for cervicogenic headache includes physical therapy, medications, behavioral therapy, and other modalities. Occipital neuralgia is caused by irritation or injury to two nerves that run from the upper neck to the back of the head.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you are experiencing a lot of discomfort from pain in the occipital area (the area in the back of your head) and your neck. It sounds like you are on the right tract, an MRI has been scheduled, and it is advisable for you to follow-up with the physician who ordered it. Evaluation at a headache center may also be helpful for you. Given the symptoms you are describing, two diagnoses that come to mind are "cervicogenic headache" and "occipital neuralgia".
Avatar n tn Hi, The one diagnosis which I can think of in your case is glossopharyngeal neuralgia but in this condition the pain/pressure can be quite severe. In this the pain begins in the throat and usually radiates to the neck and is due to the pressure on the glossopharyngeal nerve, a nerve which supplies to the tongue and the throat.
Avatar n tn When the occipital area feels less tight, the tightness seems to move to the muscles in my mid-neck area. Very frustrating. Almost makes my head feel to heavy (pressure) and my neck feel weak. How long does it take ligaments to rebuild completely? Are they always weaker after an injury?
Avatar f tn Hi, Thank you for your question. Generally pain in the back portion of the head and neck pain originate from the neck problems due to irritation in the cervical (neck) spine since the nerves that supply the back of the head start in the upper cervical spine. Mostly, this kind of head pain aggravates after turning head and typically occurs in patients with previous neck injuries and in patients with marked arthritis of the upper cervical spine.
