Avatar f tn I've been battling major depression for almost a year, I'm not BP. My Dr has been upping my meds. I did ok on effexor xl 150mg and lamtical 100 for 2 weeks and then crashed really bad. So my dr upped my effexor to 225 mg and for 2 weeks felt normal for the first time in a year it was a relief. Then I had a international gift show to work, this was working 12 hour days for a week and then I started my period. Then I had to leave this job and go on a family vacation the very day.
Avatar m tn Oilurt, do you have a pacemaker with defibrillator, or just the defibrillator? The reason I'm curious is that people that have demand pacemakers will have their heart rate maintained at a certain point if their heart rate drops too low. Taking too much of a Beta Blocker can drop your heart rate, with a demand pacemaker, it would be assured to be maintained at a certain rate.
Avatar m tn I take 75mg Flecainide 2x daily, 25 toprol XL. Four weeks ago started having break thru PACs. Maybe stress I dont know. As you know PACs trigger SVT. Now past two weeks the PACs are constantly trying to trigger SVT. So every evening I have back and forth tachy with the PACs in between. Some nights it goes to complete SVT. Its Crazy. Saw my EP today. We upped the Flec to 100 mg 2x day to try and stop the PACs and in turn again try and control SVT, My heart ultrasound today was perfect normal.
Avatar f tn My cat, Zephyr, has calcium on his exterior skull. He is happy and eats great. Last year the vet did surgery for $400. and that's when we discovered it was calcium because it just crumbled and there wasn't anything to send to the lab. The impressive thing was that a mere 4 months later it grew back bigger and in 2 places this time: the top of his head and his neck. It doesn't seem to bother him but he does beat up on his sister, Blue, a little more.
Avatar f tn You might want to give the regular Wellbutrin a try once a day instead of the XL if your Dr refuses to prescribe the XL. 200 mgs would be a high starting dose in my opinion.
736293 tn?1316517842 Hi everyone - So Kyra has been battling constant ear infection since last fall, we are on #7 since Thanksgiving, and we are going to see an audiologist and the ear, nose and throat Dr. tomorrow. This is just a consultation, but her pediatrician thinks it is time to do tubes. Have any of you had to deal with this, if so what should I expect of the whole expirience? Even though it is a simple surgery I am still a little worried about it.

Avatar n tn She believes that my HR or blood pressure could be dropping suddenly causing the fainting spells. She also suggested that a pacemaker might correct the problem. My medications include Advair, Toprol XL, Terazosin and aspirin. What would be the next course of action? Would a pacemaker fix this new problem?
1744581 tn?1311302411 I have been having episodes of sinus tach which usually occurs when I am walking or standing up (determined this by doing orthostatics). I have a history of heart block & have a pacemaker that was put in in '05 for complete heart block. I often feel lightheaded, dizzy, have chest pain, L arm pain & a headache. I also get palpitations a lot.I have been in the hospital several times for this. EKG shows a 100% paced rhythm (normal for me), blood work, chest x rays are normal.

Avatar m tn I have the Zephyr XL SR Model 5626 from St Jude Medical. It is a single lead device wwith an expected lifetime of up to 10 years. Considering I am just shy of my 57th birthday, 2 replacements/upgrades will take me to my 77th -0 or as l0ong as my Dad lived. If I live to need a 3rd replacement I will have lived longer than my Dad, HIS Dad and Mom and all my Dad's siblings (except an aunt in her 60s now).
Avatar f tn I just discovered this after 3 months of total misery, 7 different doctors, multiple tests, 1 hospitalization, 16 pound weight loss, almost lost my job, etc., etc., etc.. I want to know if this will have permanent effects on my body and heart and will I ever be the same again. I still don't feel 100% and have been back on the brand TOPROL XL for 9 days now.

Avatar n tn Has pulmonary hypertension with RVSP of 90, some tricuspid and mitral regurg. ICD/Pacemaker inserted in 2008 for fainting episodes with relief. Chronic but no acute CHF since late 2007. BNP was 60 (checked 10 days ago). Some of meds: Plavix, EC ASA 81 mg, Metoprolol XL, Benicar, Flomax, Lipitor, Lexapro, Vitamin, Folbee, Ferrous Sulfate. NOW THE QUESTION. He is adamant that he wants to ride his bicycle. One doctor said that he can try it.
Avatar n tn The Treadmill Stress Test doctor probably don't know what's called? He said best to take that stake of ECGs (printout) to see a rhythm doctor. I asked my gastro dr and she said was the printer mistake, not my heart. A normal cardiologist didn't tell me and said ,"show to Dr xxxxx." That Dr xxxxx always wants to scold me, I am too scared to show and ask him. My GP said he don't know. It still with me. I didn't feel any abnormal.
Avatar n tn My psych dr just prescribed wellbutrin xl twice a day for me bacause I felt like it wore off really bad around 4 int he afternoon. So I take it at 7 am and then at 3 pm to ward of that awful LOW feeling later. 150 mg each time. Total 300 mg for the 24 hrs. Hope this works.
Avatar n tn Everything went well and I do not have a pacemaker. I was told by my EP that if I needed an AV node ablation then I would need a pacemaker, thankfully that did not need to happen.
610089 tn?1220835340 He concluded that there was a 90% chance that if he tried to ablate the tissue,it would be to close to my SA node and i would need a pacemaker. In the process of all of this my lung was accidentally punctured from a needle in my subclavian vein and my lung partially collapsed and i had a chest tube for 2 days...but thats a whole other story. Avatar n tn I am a 54 year old women who has had palpitations and arrhythmia for about 6-8 years. I have seen 2 cardios. and 1 electrocardiologist. First I was told I had supraventricular tac., then I was told by the electrocardiologist, after wearing an event monitor for 3-4 days that it was pacs and pvcs, and said I broke the records on events called in. He said this is not fatal, and to relax. I have stopped using caffine and other stimulants but nothing helps.
Avatar n tn Metoprolol is available in two forms, fast acting Metoprolol Tartrate (Lopressor), and the time release Metoprolol Succinate (Toprol XL). I used both, and found that side effects are similar; tiredness, weight gain, and a slow pulse. Side effects are more pronounced as the dosage is increased. I had dosages from 25mg to 200mg. daily. Other reported effects are loss of libido, tightness in the chest, itching, irregular breathing, and irregular heartbeat.

Avatar m tn Would a pacemaker help with AF and does it stop the AF or will it still feel very unpleasant as it did before? I have suffered with AF for 4 years, the first episode was frightening with my heart rate going up to 200. After 3 hours the hospital reduced the heart beat down to 80 but the rhythm took 3 days to go back to normal. 2 years later the same thing again, both times I had a heavy meal and red wine.
