pacemaker

Avatar m tn Hi, I ran into your post while researching for tricuspid regurgitation cause by pacemaker lead/s. I'm wondering how you've been since then and if you've found answers to your questions. I am on my fourth double chamber pacemaker and when they took out my old leads and put the new ones, my tricuspid valve got damaged in the process and now it's leaking. That was 3 years ago and I had a mild TR. Now, it got worse and it's moderate TR now.
Avatar f tn Is there some place that explains how to access and use your forums and get answers. Are we notified when we have an answer and told where to go to get it?
Avatar n tn I had slow heartbeat and when I was eight and in 1994 they implanted a permanent minuet pacemaker. I have the same pacemaker today (I'm currently 21 and about to be 22, female). I had to change from a children's doctor to another medical center because of my age. So, where I am now is relatively new. My old physician told me that my heart was slightly enlarged. Recently, they found a blood clot on one of my leads in my right atrium and have put me on Coumadin.
Avatar n tn I have been diagnosed with Morbitz type one, second degree heart block (Wenckebach). In addition to the dropped beats, I also have a slow heart rate (Bradycardia), but no severe symptoms (e.g. syncope). I have had a stress test, EKG, halter monitor and echocardiogram. After all these tests, the best information I got from my doctors is "you're fine." I was given no reason for the heart block. Just a pat on the back and shown the door.
Avatar f tn It used to be atrial fib - have had 3 cardioversions for that and only the first one worked (for 3 weeks). Now on flecanide and toprol but is it common to have an ablation when I also have a pacemaker? It was put in last March after a fainting spell.
Avatar n tn Doctors decided to wait until she showed definite signs of necessity for the pacemaker. She was diagnosed almost three years ago and still has not had a pacemaker put it because she is dealing with the heartblock okay at this time. I can tell you that she appears as normal as the next child and plays very hard. She runs circles around her older brother and is a lively, extremely active little girl. My friend found a support group online for pediatric heartblock....
Avatar m tn I have been told a couple different answers for my questions, and wanted to know if I can lift weights and work out normal. I also wanted to know if there has been foundings against going in a tanning bed with a pacemaker and blood thinners?
3245652 tn?1346949938 Hi, I have sick sinus syndrome brady-tachy and the way I found out was an experience I would never want to repeat. I had palpitations for years and all docs I saw basically said it was all my imagination until finally I got a little more persistent and one ordered a tilt table test. Needless to say my heart stopped and I remember coming out of it and the nurse was just rambling on about what had just happened as if I could even concentrate on a word she was saying...
Avatar f tn Have you talked to your doctor about becoming pregnant with your pacemaker being placed where it is? You have to talk to your doctor NOW about it, if you haven't. It could absolutely be a problem, because the uterus will eventually occupy the place where your pacemaker is! If your doctor has okay'd becoming pregnant, then all you can do is keep trying, but if you haven't spoken to him/her yet you need to do it ASAP, and I mean like this week.
754751 tn?1241304207 you can also read patient information over at some of the companies that maufacture the pacemakers themselves sites like biotronik , medtronic , st jude medical etc their patient information pages are very readable the one who decides if you get a pacemaker is your cardiologist after many tests and evaluation and sometimes your heart surgeon that is if you had one he can also say you need a pacemaker , is many people have pacemakers and/or ICD for various medical heart conditions
Avatar n tn He has no previous health issues. He went to many doctors and had no answers. They did all sorts of tests and even tests on his Thyroid. All came back fine. Then he found a different doc who did a special test on his Thyroid and found out that he has Hashimoto Disorder. Im not sure if I spelled it right. After they started treating him his health got so much better. Now he is back to his old self again and in even better shape.
Avatar f tn to put it mildly. Fortunately, all errands are done for a few days and I can relax and recharge myself, both mentally and physically. They even let me keep the original battery! Told them I "earned it" LOL Thanks again, it was nice going down knowing everyone was thinking of me! Hugs Sarah....good for another 7-8 yrs.......
Avatar f tn I'm 19 years old. 3 months ago I went in for knee surgery. While I was in recovery they found me in 3rd degree heart block. I was sent home with a heart rate of 40 they thought it was just the pain meds. With in four hours I was unconscious on the bathroom floor with a heart rate of 15 quickly fading. I was rushed to the er and put in cardiac short stay for the night. They ran test after test to make sure anistisa had nothing to do with it.
Avatar m tn 2) Considering her need for a higher dosage and her occasional heart block, the combo of verapimil and a pacemaker is an appropriate next step. As I recall, a member of this board, scouser costa rica, has a pacemaker like your wife's doctor is recommending and it's working out well for him (he also takes amiodarone to decrease the frequency of afib episodes and to lower his heart rate when it does occur).. 3) There are two types of ablation to consider.
Avatar m tn Is there anything I should ask the doctor or know before I make my decision to go through with the EP study? Can we try medications and do more frequent pacemaker checks to see if these episodes can be controlled by medications?
1535596 tn?1292469791 I am 35. On July 9 of this year, I was implanted with a pacemaker and now am a card carrying member of the Pacemaker club. The reason, complete or phase 4 heart block with bradycardia. Before the implantation, I was monitoring my blood pressure on my own with a home monitor. I am also a trained nurse. I noticed that I was having palpitations, quite regularly, and my blood pressure was averaging 160/100 where it used to be 112/80. My heart rate, resting, was averaging 100 bpm.
Avatar f tn d ask him why not just put in the pacemaker and skip the rest. I just put a question on the forum myself about something similar. I have no problem with getting a pacemaker. I really can't see messing with ablation which may or may not work when I know a pacemaker will work and stop messing around with tests. Maybe pacemakers are as good as I think they are, but my mother lived a very long life because of one. She sure felt better too.
Avatar f tn s just providing extra beats here and there, the device is only acting to provide comfort and I would just leave it alone. You cardiologist can have a tech read this info from the pacemaker. These values might change along the road. There are a few disease processes that can stop a heart. One is what everyone seems to know about which is a heart attack or basically blood starving the heart.

579123 tn?1217791074 We spoke with the Drs office today, and they have taken him OFF his COZAAR and COREG XR (coreg for only 2 days)....but with his ejection fraction of 15 is coming off the Coreg not going to hurt more then it helps? Anyone,,have any replys?
Avatar f tn m not a doctor just a patient who asked many questions before getting something so invasive such as surgery for a pacemaker because of a side effect for a med. For instance - I can't take Toprol because it makes my bp go to 70/40 and my hr stay at 40...however, I went through 5 meds and found Inderal which does not lower my bp/hr - but I've had profound bradycardia since I was 9 and a pacemaker was the only option that has helped with my fainting spells.
Avatar m tn Hi, I am 58 years old and had a pacemaker placement for a slow heartbeat. I go to my Doctors on a regular basis and just had a nuclear stress test and blood work. All were normal. I have been expericing some skipped heartbeat for about six months, and I have pain in the left side of my neck. When this happens, it seems to also make me feel tired. My questions are would my pacemaker pick up these events?
