Pacemaker programming

Common Questions and Answers about Pacemaker programming

pacemaker

Avatar f tn Pacemaker itself can cause AF due to the programming. My doc reprogrammed and shut down some functions. My AF disappeared. All he prescripted before: Flecainide, Digoxin, Atenolol, verapamil can go into the bin. Also, the holter monitor report mentioned "ventricular runs" is not meant to v-tach. It is ventricular pacing. When my pacemaker is pacing my ventricle, I feel like an express train is running in my chest, sweat and exhausted.
341190 tn?1295467125 Hi All, I had a pacemaker fitted last april since then i have been really tired, i have had a few problems along the way, my lung collapsed then i had water on it now i have blood on it, but it,s the tiredness i cant cope with even if i sleep for over 12 hours, im wondering if anyone else has been through this.
Avatar n tn Ever since I had a pacemaker implanted, my heat goes in to ineffective overdrive after walking only a couple of steps. (120 +) On the otherhand, even strenuous workouts on strength machines results in only small (70 to 87) increases in pulse rate not accompanied by any discomfort. Under those conditions. my heart seems to pump normal.
Avatar n tn I assume they have checked the pacemaker programming and that the leads are attached to the heart properly?
Avatar f tn Yes, I got problem with my pacemaker. Not surgery or infection part. It is the programming part. Lead also failed once. Take care.
Avatar f tn My 90 year old aunt is about to have her pacemaker replaced on monday, She is a very strong women for her age. How invasive a procegure is this?
1411632 tn?1281642993 I had a halter monitor test done by my PCP and they said they recorded several pauses. One that was 9.5 seconds, one 6 seconds and two 3 seconds. I was referred to a cardiologist who recommended a pacemaker. What are the odds that in that 24 hour halter test there are 4 pauses but now my pacemaker has not recorded any in an 8 month period? I also did not have tachycardia until after the pacemaker implantation.
Avatar m tn Pacemaker programming, I've found depends on a number of factors. For example, after my bypass surgery, my heart health increased dramatically, I was on a much stronger beta blocker (Coreg) and it was discontinued and I was given Metopropolol. I still had problems like you describe. During a walk I noticed a very high heart rate, about 135 bpm which continued for hours.
Avatar f tn This would be a good question for your cardiologist but my guess is. . . that unless your heart simply can't beat at all without a pacemaker, you'll be fine. Most people get the pacemaker because their heart rate is too slow. But slow (say the 30's or 40's) isn't the same as stopped. So you can survive those few minutes while they unplug one unit and connect the leads to the new unit. My Dad had his replaced and he was in and out in an hour or so.
Avatar f tn Hi, I'm 28 and had a pacemaker placed 4/14/10 for fairly severe sinus node dysfunction/sick sinus syndrome - I had 2 EP/Ablations (sinus node modifications for IST) in 2007, the last resulted in my SSS. Until now I avoided a pacer since I am so young but was bradycardic in the 30's and 40's with 2+ second pauses, struggled with chronotropic incompetence, and was fairly symptomatic. (Oh I am a cardiac nurse too....
Avatar m tn After reviewing a chest x-ray and testing the pacemaker, the electrophysicologist deactivated the atrial lead (via programming) because it was partially dislodged which was causing it to fire irregularly and only at high levels - this was what was causing the diaphragm twitch. The electrophysiologist explained that the atrial lead targeted Atrial Fib and was primarily for quality of life, whereas the ventricle lead was targeting bradycardia and pauses.
Avatar n tn metoprolol may not correct SOB! The pacemaker has corrected bradycardia!? The pacemaker will override any disruptions of the normal electrical impulses controlling the rate of your heart's pumping action. SOB is almost always a serious symptom...it was the only symptom for the admitting personal to put me in an emergency status, but I had other symptoms, dry cough, hyperventilating when laying down, etc . She said that is all that is needed is SOB.
Avatar n tn I assume you are referring to the risks involved with the pacemaker. You should be aware of your surrondings and devices that may interfere with the pulse generation. Because it is pulse generation, interference can cause irreguar heartbeats that could be serious.
Avatar m tn //leetcode.com/problems/max-points-on-a-line/ in my first month of self taught programming so i dont know if thats any indication of how good i am.
Avatar f tn m so scared that it has moved and I will have to have surgery again to correct it. I am like sersiously freaking out. But it could also just be a programming thing... I have not felt the stimulation at all like I did during the trial but it has only been programmed once when I was kind of out of it. I'm just freaking out that since it's on the left side of my head that that is completly wrong and off that it just can't be the programming....
Avatar n tn Very hard to type..there are days where I am programming for 12-15hrs a day. Is there an easy cure? Advil?
574118 tn?1305135284 s tough and I realised I hate networking. The only alternative left for me now is programming. I can say I am ok in C++ but everything turned C#. Now stresses aren't advised for BP. I "think" I like programming. But I am already myope -5 in both eyes. Of course I wear eye glasses. I have a few queries: is it complicated to learn it? visual studio....
675084 tn?1233087505 good you ask me.. my pacemaker is set to 80beats and I'm 100% depend on my pacemaker.. i have a Medtronic this my 2nd. pacemaker... my first Medtronic pacemaker i had it for 18 yrs. until the doctor turn it down than it didn't work good.. had to get a new one.. in Dec. it will be 2yrs. i had my pacemaker check last week and i find out the doctor that put my pacemaker in didn't set my pacemaker for life depend.. Good news is now my pacemaker is set for it not to be ever turn off..
Avatar f tn My pacemaker battery had been dead for over a year and a half, and I just now was told that the pacemaker will have to be removed because it can damage the heart if it doesn't have a battery. Is this true? Incidentally, my pacemaker had not been activated for several years, as it was set for the minimum and didn't ever have to kick in.
Avatar f tn I have had numerous surgeries including the Fontan in 1987 with a revision of the Fontan in 2006, where at that time I also had a Medtronic Enrhythym Pacemaker install. 3 weeks ago I had a Pacemaker replacement due to the fact my battery on my Pacemaker was running low. The new Pacemaker installed is a Medtronic Adapta. Since the new pacemaker my Heart beat has been all over the place. My 1st Enrhythym was paced at 80 bpm, and it pretty much stayed like that for 5.
Avatar n tn i had 3 open heart surgery and on my 2nd. pacemaker.. my first pacemaker last me for 18yrs. and just got my 2nd. pacemaker Dec.2006.. my pacemaker was implanted in my upper chest on the right side.. only thing i hate the surgery doctor told me he would use the same cut as the other pacemaker but when i woke up he cut me in another spot.. well i can say.. ask your doctor his he using the same cut as the first pacemaker was in..
Avatar f tn Do you have a pacemaker? The best is to check with your doctor or pacemaker technician. I don't know what can it cause the heart functioning abnormality if you have the inverted T waves? Anyone knows? It also depends if you're a pacemaker dependent or not. I'm not a pacemaker depend. I go well with the equipment which marks "Pacemaker user caution". If I found my heart beats abnormally, then I stop using it and try again after the heart settle.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm sorry about your mom. Its my understanding that they don't "stop" the pacemaker, Nature takes it course regardless of the pacemaker. I went through this with my mom.
