Avatar f tn IVC is very dilated and does not collapse with respiration. estimated pulmonary sytem PR of at least 50mmhg. what does this mean? does it mean that there is no treatment for it? if there is what type of treatment there is. .
Avatar n tn Please can someone explain why a patient with a pacemaker kept her paced rhythm of 70 bpm with a fever 39.3 to 40 degrees C? I thought pacemakers could vary the rate to meet metabolic requirements. Thank you.
Avatar f tn I believe there was a shortcoming in your initial response based on your lack of knowledge of the heart physiology and a pacemaker, and you believe there was a loose wire and that is the cause of the CHF. That's my opinion, and now you want to make an excuse...no excuse is necessary.
Avatar m tn and i feel it is respiration related because mostly i have the shortage in respiration.
Avatar m tn I worry about my heart being an issue alot of the time, I really need to stop, but I cant understand why I have this pain when I breath. Could you please shed some light on the different possiblites.
Avatar n tn Only, if this disturbing effect becomes significant, then,le rate of respiration will impose an unsuitable rhythm of oscillation to the heart, and it is this gene which inevitably causes damages with this one while carrying it to a sensitive potential not nul(rupture of triple neutrality).let us remark that the disturbing effect does not depend on respiratory speed, but of the proportion in which the rib cage undergoes the respiratory movement.
Avatar m tn You could be having short runs of VT or non-sustained SVT. I've had it myself. This is beyond normal changes in rhythm that occurs with respiration. Something to keep an eye on and report to your physician.
Avatar n tn If your heart rate is out of proportion to your respiration, it could be due to the fact that you are not as well-conditioned as you have assumed. You should continue to monitor your blood pressure but I would recommend that you and your doctor look to your cough, and the probable cause of it. The causes of most coughs are benign, for example postnasal drip, asthma or gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), but cough can also be a warning sign of more serious disease.
Avatar n tn Over the next 8 month I lost 12 kg as my stomach wasnt feeling good.I started to get episodes of AF set of by bending down exercise ,drinking etc now it is controled by tablets but I still cant get back to full fitness ,i was a keen runner before but now I tire easy and can only manage a snails pace if i jog my legs drain of oxygen and seize up and my respiratory system works overtime ,do you have any idea what this may be -------- lactic acid ? poor respiration ? magnesium ?
Avatar f tn I had a pacemaker placed 4 months ago. Since then, I have a lot of pain and burning sensation in and around the area of the pacemaker. It feels like someone's holding a hot match against my skin in one particular area. I have sick sinus and tachybrady. I take atenolol, digoxin and have the pacemaker. I was dropping down as low as the low 30s freguently. I pace 22% of the time. Could there be a lead broken or what would cause the pain and burning?
Avatar n tn When I was 20 they discovered my tachycardia was due to an extra pathway in the heart.Since it was close to the heart's natrual pacemaker they decided against intervention but later, as the techniques advanced, they advised an ablation.Should something go wrong with the ablation, they would have a pacemaker ready to be inserted. However I was still hesitant, given the slight risk that I would end up with a pacemaker and never got round to doing the procedure.
Avatar n tn I ended up having every type of SVT except Wolf H Syndrome. My cardiologist was scared he would have to put a pacemaker in at the time and wants to go back in for another ablation 3-d mapping in 3 mths. My questions are: 1. Is it normal or common to have more than one type of SVT? 2. If I ended up with a pacemaker could I have more children? 3. What would the risk of future pregnancies be with and without the pacemaker??
Avatar m tn Fainting, near fainting, dizziness, lack of energy, fatigue, shortness of breath and exercise intolerance. Extreme slowing or complete stopping of the heartbeat can be fatal. In other cases, people may have no symptoms but are at high risk for dangerously slow heart rates because of disturbances of the electrical system of the heart. A pacemaker may be recommended for these people before symptoms occur. There are no electrical disturbance shown with your post?!
539989 tn?1218832080 pierced my lung and a chest tube had to be inserted. I still have alot of pain from where the chest tube was and I have some numbness on the left side of my back, side and arm. My chest is still extremely tender from where my pacemaker was placed. I am wondering if this is all normal. My pacemaker scar is very bad looking as well. I have had double bi-pass surgery and even that scar looked better than this one does. Thank you.
Avatar n tn metoprolol may not correct SOB! The pacemaker has corrected bradycardia!? The pacemaker will override any disruptions of the normal electrical impulses controlling the rate of your heart's pumping action. SOB is almost always a serious symptom...it was the only symptom for the admitting personal to put me in an emergency status, but I had other symptoms, dry cough, hyperventilating when laying down, etc . She said that is all that is needed is SOB.
968560 tn?1307451498 There is a fairly new pain med that is structurally related to Tramadol, but has analgesic effects rated stronger than hydro but not as strong as oxycodone. It has some effect on respiration, but not to the degree of typical narcotics/synthetic narcotics. Its called Nucynta. I'm gonna ask about it.
Avatar m tn 2) Considering her need for a higher dosage and her occasional heart block, the combo of verapimil and a pacemaker is an appropriate next step. As I recall, a member of this board, scouser costa rica, has a pacemaker like your wife's doctor is recommending and it's working out well for him (he also takes amiodarone to decrease the frequency of afib episodes and to lower his heart rate when it does occur).. 3) There are two types of ablation to consider.

Avatar n tn My mother had placement of a pacemaker 6 months ago. She was told that the battery should last 7-10 years. When she recently had her pacemaker checked the physician told her that she now has only 2 1/2 years of battery life left. Unfortunately, the reason for a loss of battery life was not given even after the question was presented. Can you help us understand what has happend.
Avatar n tn I am a 30 yr old mother of 3 with a pacemaker. I have had the pacemaker for 3 years in July. It was originally placed because of a severe problem with fainting. My heart was stopping for nearly 50 seconds(documented) during these syncope episodes. The pacemaker has basically cured this problem. At my last visit they said it was working 25% of the time. Whatever that means. But now the pacemaker unit has shifted for the second time.
Avatar m tn After getting the pacemaker, my BP readings have been progressively worst week by week. Befor the pacemaker, for years my top (systolic) readings used to around 110 to max of around 160, and after the pacemaker, they even reached worst level of around 190, and yesterday scary level of 225. - Even though my family phys added Clonidine to previous BP-meds of Altace, HCTZ, and Cardura, my BP keeps moving higher an higehr each week... I never had so high numbers before the pacemaker.
Avatar n tn What is your respiration rate? how many times are you breathing per minute? If you saw a cardiologist, I suspect your respiration is normal ?
Avatar m tn s pacer, I have a Biometric, but EVERY pacemaker I know of gives you access to the manufacturer and consultants on the card.
1213664 tn?1273636584 Hi, I am from Puerto Rico, and here in this island the heat is something to worry about it, anyway; recently I notice that when I was standing up talking with someone, I start to become really bad, I start to feel stress in my muscles, I feel my legs weak, I feels sofocate, I feel my tongue dry, and I feel like I will fall down; but I notice that when I speak and even more if I am standing up, I don't make an adequate isnpiration, I think I speak really fast, and my respiration becomes inad
