Avatar f tn s my first time posting here but looking for any advice, I recently had a pacemaker implanted due to sick sinus syndrome My pacemaker was first implanted and removed due to infection and placed in the opposite side since then the side my pacemaker was on hasn't been right sore,.
Avatar m tn Yes my concern is a defective pacemaker. It seem to b running fine from Nov 24 to Dec 31st. Then by accident someone hit my pacemaker real hard. I had some immediate pain and then I started having chest pains. That evenyually resulted in afib...not sure what to think...
Avatar f tn Kathy Hansen went online to research treatments and found the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where doctors could insert a pacemaker into her stomach. The pacemaker acts similarly to a heart pacemaker, sending signals that cause the stomach muscles to contract at the right times so that Gentrie could eat. Avatar f tn Anyway, when he was a new author his agent got him an interview with an editor where King was presenting his manuscript. The editor liked it a lot and was attempting to charm Steve with a lot of freindly chit-chat. Poor Steve was terrified, and got that dry mouth can't talk response. All he could do, finally, was get up and squeak, "Me go now," to the editor and high tail it outta there.
Avatar f tn My doctor is saying that I need a pacemaker and he said that once we do that he can go in and ablate the fast rate issues so I would assume that it is not a problem. I am just scared to do the pacemaker and putting it off. If it would solve all my problems then maybe I would want to do it more, but knowing that this is just one of the things I have to do makes me overwhelmed by the whole thing. Have you had any problems with your pacemaker?
Avatar m tn I'm sure your doc wouldn't have implanted a PM if it wasn't indicated. Sure, any implanted device can cause problems, but PM complications are scarce if not rare. Depending on your age, it may lutlast you. Could it be the PM is making you feel so well that you're tricked into thinking you did't need it?

Avatar n tn There should be no problem on a flight with a pacemaker. There are no magnetic fields that could interfere with the function of a pacemaker.
Avatar m tn My daughter had a duel chamber pacemaker and has had several cardioversions for A-Fib and she has NEVER had any problems with the pacemaker or leads following all of her cardioversions. They didn't need and replacements standing by or anything else.
Avatar f tn Sorry to hear of your problems. I do not know the what exercise can be done when on a pacemaker, but it sounds like you are still running on your own timing if you are able to exercise in an aerobic way (you didn't state that). I also understand a pacemaker would treat AFib only if your had a full shut-down and are are operating under full-time pacemaker timing. I could be wrong on this point, I am not a pacemaker patient myself. What has you doctor said about your symptoms?
Avatar n tn My grandma is 81 yrs old and recently had a pacemaker put in. However she still develops breathing problems. Why is this so? The doctors dont seem to know what the problem is as she has been admitted in hospital for the 4th time. She gets really weak when she has problems breathing. She used to be quite strong for an 81 yr old but all this happened all of a sudden. Any advice at all?
Avatar n tn t believe a pacemaker is used to control AFib. Perhaps your father has other heart problems. The most common use for a pacemaker is to keep the heart from beating too slow, or stopping. Some times a PM is used when the heart electrical system has to be totally shut down, in which case there would be no AFib or other arrhythmia, but this is not done to my knowledge, to control AFib.
Avatar n tn hi, finally the doctor said i should go for a pacemaker dual chamber as my heart is missing beats and slow. can those who already went for this type of operation share their experience with me please. and can you tell me if it does cost a lot, is there any complication after operation? is there any thing i should know? will my life be back to normal? as now i can't even work!!!
675084 tn?1233087505 good you ask me.. my pacemaker is set to 80beats and I'm 100% depend on my pacemaker.. i have a Medtronic this my 2nd. pacemaker... my first Medtronic pacemaker i had it for 18 yrs. until the doctor turn it down than it didn't work good.. had to get a new one.. in Dec. it will be 2yrs. i had my pacemaker check last week and i find out the doctor that put my pacemaker in didn't set my pacemaker for life depend.. Good news is now my pacemaker is set for it not to be ever turn off..
Avatar f tn Sounds like you don't need a pacemaker. I think I'd want it out if I didn't need/use it. I do not have a pacemaker and don't have any idea how difficult removal is, hope (would guess) it is a out-patient (same day in/out) procedure. You say the pacemaker never "kicked" in, I assume you don't have any related heart problems like dizziness or shortness of breath. If you do, perhaps you should consider having the pacemaker set to cut in sooner.

Avatar m tn But even with the pacemaker and oxygen, she is only able to move around the house a small amount. I am wondering how much less she will be able to do once the battery ceases to function. Will she still be able to move about the house or will she be more tired than she is already?

Avatar f tn Another cardiologist said that pacemaker can have side effects like leads leakage which ultimately can lead to heart problems. And other infections as well. They said he is too young to have pacemaker. Has anyone got any experience or suggestions please? Thanks in advance. Worried mom.
Avatar f tn I would definitely go see another doctor; they may not have answers either and you may have to find a larger practice with alot of types of patients to find the right answer, it may be something as small as a setting or rate response not being on or it may be something else entirely; maybe related to the surgery he had.
Avatar n tn Had my pacemaker installed 4 months ago and have had problems with the skin over the device ever since.Last week, I had a small bubble grow on the residual swelling over the device and this burst;saw my surgeon and he has me on anti-biotics for the third time.I am told if the round of antibiotics does not bring down the swelling and leakage from the swollen area, the pacemaker will have to come out and be re-installed in another area.
