Avatar n tn Hello all a very frustrating journey this past year has been, I apologize for the long post but the journey has been long. I'm a 23 year old female. Back in December I felt very short of breath & dizzy, I went to the emergency room where my heart rate was 168, they treated me & said I suffered from SVT.
Avatar f tn Kathy Hansen went online to research treatments and found the Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, where doctors could insert a pacemaker into her stomach. The pacemaker acts similarly to a heart pacemaker, sending signals that cause the stomach muscles to contract at the right times so that Gentrie could eat. Avatar f tn These things differ from person to person. Mine's especially slow, which can either mean I need a pacemaker or I have a great heart than doesn't need to work hard to do its job. Could be either. Only a cardiac specialist can give you the appropriate tests, but if you're feeling fine, what's the problem?
Avatar n tn My husband has a family history of heart problems (aunt has a pacemaker, uncle had heart surgery at an early age, father has arrythmia & extra tissue on his heart). He enjoys long distance running (up to 25 miles a week) & had a strange experience the other day (he went to his knees when he experience what he described as an earthquake go back & forth across his chest, nausea & dizziness). Should he see a cardiologist or go to his primary care physician? thank you.
Avatar m tn Yep...that's mania! At least you have creative hobbies. Sometimes inspirations really flow out and then they peter out. That comes with being creative. Just put them on a back burner until you feel those creative juices recharge to work on them again. I got really into decorative knots. I had all this rope from my uncle's estate and I got creative. I made basket holders for my plants and made doubled pull handles by using a knot called a monkey paw for my ceiling doors.
Avatar n tn If however everything goes as planned, he will just have to go in through the groin, get the lead out, then go in her pacemaker site and swap out the pacemaker and put in the new lead. That way is MUCH better, no open heart surgery and recovery time would just be a matter of days instead of weeks. The doc said he'd seen 3 cases similar to hers in the past 10 years and everything went great with them. Her surgery is this Wednesday the 4th.
Avatar f tn Anyway, when he was a new author his agent got him an interview with an editor where King was presenting his manuscript. The editor liked it a lot and was attempting to charm Steve with a lot of freindly chit-chat. Poor Steve was terrified, and got that dry mouth can't talk response. All he could do, finally, was get up and squeak, "Me go now," to the editor and high tail it outta there.
Avatar f tn Ran into an article in the Journal for the American Academy of Family Practitioners published this month, telling doctors that Levothyroxine is the ONLY valid treatment for hypo and to trust the TSH. I called the Academy and was transferred to the editor of the Journal and advised him of the more current articles (that I published here) conducted and published in Europe and now published by the NIH.

Avatar f tn Oh yeah, I reread the message and see what you mean regarding his "hatural pacemaker." That is good if the pacemaker they put in will work. Yes I haven't really heard much about this either although I have heard some 20 year olds die due to the family not knowing about their sons congenital heart defect and they were playing sports and it was too much for them. I think they are starting to do screens on the kids that want to play sports. Maybe they should screen all kids.

The doctors do not know how he developed it and after two weeks in the hospital and many tests, he was put on seven medications and also carries a heart monitor on him. Avatar f tn The pacemaker itself should not be a deterent from having an ablation. I've had a pacemaker for 6 years (because of an ablation actually), and then had another ablation about a year ago. Unfortunately, the ablations don't work for me, but I have IST, not SVT so hopefully they're more effective for that.
