Oxymorphone oxycodone

Common Questions and Answers about Oxymorphone oxycodone

opana

Avatar f tn NOT oxymorphone dear, oxycodone. Oxycontin has the sole active ingredient oxycodone, Perocet has both oxycodone and acetaminophen...hence the "cet" suffix. Theres also Percoden which is oxycodone and asprin. Oxymorphone is a totally different drug 2x the strenth of oxycodone.
Avatar n tn For example, 1 mg of oxymorphone is stronger than 1 mg of oxycodone...to be precise, oxymorphone is approx. 2 times stronger than oxycodone. Therefore, to get equivalent strength of oxymorphone through oxycodone, one has to take their oxymorphone dosage and multiply it by 2 to yield equivalent oxycodone dosing in mgs.
917008 tn?1251223979 In my opinion they are pretty much just as addicting as oxycodone. I have used all 3 before but mainly oxy, however if I was ever able to get some opana or dilaudid I would not pass up that 'opportunity'. If I had as easy access to hydromorphone or oxymorphone as I do to oxycodone, I would have stopped using oxycodone in favor of either of the 2.
Avatar f tn Oxycodone is metabolized by the liver into oxymorphone. Oxymorphone is about 2 times stronger than oxycodone based on pharmacology. When I was first switched to Opana, the drowsiness and tiredness were unreal! It was a real struggle for me at first and I also have a desk job. However, the sedation effects only lasted for a month at the most. Now I don't get sedated anymore and in fact I am more alert than I was on Morphine.
Avatar n tn Ive been on oxycodone-acetaminophen 5-325 (percocet) needing something better 4 pain. My doc just put me on opana ER 5 mg tab. The opana doesnt seem to work. which is suppose to work better and does opana work well?
Avatar n tn It is very true that wen testing for Oxycodone that it can come up positive for Morphine or Oxymorphone. Doctors often do not understand how to read the tests. The article I found proving that is www.jenniferschneider.com/articles/Conv_of_Oxycodone_7_20_7.html It is a great article that explains why Oxycodone is often read as Morphine.
Avatar f tn So you are using Opana ER 10mg twice a day? Because of your many years of pain and opioid medication, you are highly tolerant to opioids analgesics. This means that you need more opioid to achieve the same amount of pain relief. My question is: why does your doctor want to change the Duragesic to Opana ER? Also, how long after changing from Duragesic to Opana ER did you begin to feel more pain?
Avatar f tn Also 15mg's if oxymorphone ER. Morphine 39mgs ER didn't do a Dan think. The oxymorphone us better but far from great. The ixycidibe doesn't work at 5mgs. No I gave not built up a tolerance because I only take the oxycidibe when I need it. What U do is rake 5nfs if oxycodone and 3 or 4 hours later take another tablet. I never double the dose. I think 10mgs is the minimum I should be prescribed. Are any if you in the sane situation as I am. I'm very angry about this!!!
Avatar m tn Hello. I am prescribed Oxycodone and Hydrocodone for pain. My doctor told me that my last drug screening came up positive for Opana ER. I have never taken Opana. How in the world could this have happened? I know many people won't believe me, but it's the truth. I'm just trying to figure out how this could happen. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
Avatar f tn In a GCMS, UDA Codeine, Hydrocodone, Oxycodone, Oxymorphone, 6-acetyl morphine (Heroin metabolite) is an unexpected result. Another study: hydromorphone was detected in patients treated with high-dose morphine. The ratio of hydromorphone to morphine ranged from 0.2 to 2.2%. Oxymorphone was not detected in any specimen from high-dose morphine or high-dose hydromorphone patients. The authors conclude, based on these data, that oxymorphone is not a metabolite of morphine or hydromorphone.
Avatar n tn Oxycodone is about half as strong as Oxymorphone per mg. So you were talking 60mg of Oxycontin (Oxycodone) and going by a Opioid (Narcotic) analgesic converter you would need 30mg of Opana (Oxymorphone) to get the same pain releif and most likley the same to cover the withdrawl. You are now taking 10mg of Opana where 30mgs is what the converter says you need. You need to talk to your Dr. about dosage and don't take more than your Dr wrote the Opana for until he or she OKs it.
Avatar m tn I dont like the dilaudid b/c it messes with my vision and gives no real pain relief, I like the oxycodone 15mg for breakthru pain...
Avatar f tn I bet a semi synthetic like oxycodone would be the best, maybe oxymorphone? Maybe if I make the poppy seed tea into a resin to take as a pill, that might help. However, I am not going to do that because it would get expensive and might be becoming illegal. However poppy seed tea remains legal. Hopefully a doctor can help.
Avatar f tn Hi Krista! I've had severe chronic pain since 1983 and was diagnosed with HCV in 1986 and with cirrhosis in 2004. Before my liver got so bad I used a variety of different pain meds, but have had to be way more careful since 2004. For the last year I've been using Opana (oxymorphone) ER twice daily and a small dose of oxymorphone IR for breakthrough pain. It has worked well for me, contains no acetaminophen, is okay with my hepatologist, and has fewer supply hassles than OxyContin did.
Avatar f tn I believe it would show up if being tested for both opioids and synthetic opioids. The reason why you tested positive for oxymorphone is because oxycodone which is found in percocet can produce oxymorphone when it is metabolized in the liver. The codeine-hydrocodone group and morphinans can also produce oxymorphone.
Avatar f tn Your sister might need a stronger short acting pain medication to compliment the fentanyl patch such as liquid morphine (what Dee mentioned) or liquid oxycodone. There is also short acting dilaudid (hydromorphone) or opana (oxymorphone) - oxymorphone is stronger than hydromorphone. The fentanyl patch strengths go up to 100 mcg/hr and the prescription leaflet shows dosing up to 300 mcg/hr so there is a lot of wiggle room with the fentanyl patches to hopefully give her some relief.
Avatar f tn Consider that Percocet tablets-- medications used to treat surgical pain in dose ranges of 1-2 every 4 hours-- contain 5-10 mg of oxycodone. You are taking the equivalent of 70 of the 5 mg tabs every day, when the dose after major surgery would be on the order of 5-10 tablets per day. The largest dose I've seen in a patient addicted to oxycodone is about 700 mg per day. Most people addicted to oxycodone in my practice were taking around 200-300 mg per day.
Avatar f tn ll get a separate breakout for Fentanyl, Oxycodone, Vicoden, Morphine, Codeine, Oxymorphone, Heroine, Opium, Hydromorphone, Cocaine, Demerol, and several other Opiates/Opioid drugs; Along with their concentration levels (ng/ml) in your bloodstream.
Avatar f tn I am going through serious withdrawal. I suffer chronic back and hip pain and my doctor can't seem to find the source of the pain. So I started to medicate myself. I started off with oxy 30s. then I started dating a guy who also is in chronic pain and when I would start getting "sick" from not being able to get the 30s he gave he some of his oxymorphone, opana, and I don't want to continue taking his meds anymore.
Avatar m tn not only did i go back to taking hydrocodone but i started taking more. i then moved to oxycodone , about 60-150mg i also take opana(oxymorphone) 40mg ER but i crush and snort them. when i was on here i took apprx. 12 10mg pills a day about 30mg at a time. now when i take 7 10mg pills i dont feel anything. is the increase in my tolerance going to vastly affect the withdrawal process in severity or length?
