Oxymorphone how strong

Common Questions and Answers about Oxymorphone how strong

opana

I am going through serious withdrawal. I suffer chronic back and hip pain and my doctor can't seem to find the source of the pain. So I started to medicate myself. I started off with oxy 30s. then I started dating a guy who also is in chronic pain and when I would start getting "sick" from not being able to get the 30s he gave he some of his oxymorphone, opana, and I don't want to continue taking his meds anymore.
Does anyone have an idea,as to how strong any strength Opana(brand name) is to Oxycodone? My new PM Dr. wants me to get down from 40mg of Methadone to about 20mg,in only one weeks time, before he starts precribing me Opana. I've already had been taking huge amounts of 15mg Oxycodone a day,for 5 years also, along with the Methadone. I tried to explain to him, just how tolerant,I had become to the Oxy,but I think it fell on def ears.
Soon my doctor went to prescribing me 8 Opana (oxymorphone) 10 mg a day. This was the beginning of the worst time in my life. I literally am scared out of my mind of running out because I'm frightened I will die... these withdrawals make me feel like my life is ending. I am moving soon to a different city and recently broke up with my boyfriend of 3+ years and this has caused me a great depression. I feel like my entire life has ended because everything I have grown to know is now over.
My tolerance is so high, I take the same dosage she does daily, which is 4-5 20MG tablets a day. I need them just to feel normal. I have no pain. I dont know how to get off of them. I got off of them once for a month straight, but soon found myself going threw the medicine cabnit again to start this horrible cycle all over again. It is hard because they are at my reach any time I want. My mother now knows about my addiction,(after years of her not realizing it) and enables it unfortunately .
Was on Tramadol for the past 7 months, up to 400mg a day for severe neck/back injury/pain due to a car accident 8 months ago. My pain management doc gave me this Oxymorphone 5mg. up to 3 times daily yesterday. Doc said try this, but if that doesn't work, its epidural cervical injections and possible surgery. I'm worried about addiction now, w/ all these pills they throw at me.
I've been reading posts in here and it seems alot of people are/were addicted to vicoden/lortab/norco and oxycontin, but I haven't read about anyone being addicted to dilaudid or oxymorphone. Are 2 drugs considered as addictive as oxycontin? I'm asking because my g/f's pain doctor might switch her from methadone to one of these. She doesnt abuse her methadone at all, she has no desire, but I have seen her take excessive amounts of oxycontin in the past. Thanks!
Percocet is not enough and Oxycontin, I don't like how I feel and well, I don't like the stories you hear from it, and the patch, NO!!! not ever again, it scared me. In all reality, I don't want to take anything, I want to get off all the pills and find something that I could put on my back and not be codependent on anything. Any suggestions.... Oh, what do you think about Suboxon (is that how you spell it), have you guys heard anything about it...
it's a strong opiate (oxymorphone) the only thing i can think of is to slowly take less and less of the medication, or something weaker like morphine pills, methadone. your doctor can help.
If you don't have anything you can take today, get some aleve, it's naproxen just not in the amount that a perscription would be, so take however many aleve add up to anywhere from 250mg to 500 mg depending on how your body responds to naproxen. ( if each aleve is 100 mg taking 5 is the same exact thing as taking a 500mg naproxen. It is the exact same drug just a lesser dosage per pill since it is over the counter) I really hope this helps. Let me know if you need anything.
Diacetylmorphine (Heroin) (orally it = morphine, IV/IM/insuffilated it's 2x as strong) 100mg............Dihydrocodeine 30mg..............Hydrocodone (Vicodin, Lorcet, etc) 7.5mg.............Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) 37.5µg............Fentanyl (not sure on this one, anyone know the oral dose equivalence for Fentanyl?) 4mg................Levorphanol (Dromoran) 300mg............Meperidine (Demerol) 10-20mg.........Methadone 30-60mg.........Morphine 20mg..............
5 mg of Hydrocodone (vicodin) taken 3-4 times daily and @ 6 NSAIDS total daily. I am very very very strict with how much I take- never more than a full 5mg when it's bad. My job has me dealing with the criminal public and I see every day how easy addiction can take over a life, so I have been sooooo careful to take just enough to dull the pain but not give me a high. After 5 yrs of scripts from my Ortho doc I was unceremoniously cut off and was told I had to go to PM for any more narcotic meds.
I dont see much about it in these posts but I have been taking oxymorphone(OPANA) for FBS.I have been addicted to Meth cocaine and alcohol in the past but have been free from those chains for 10 years. My disease has resurfaced with this Opana though.I have cut my intake from 20 mg a day to 10 mg a day for the past three days.I have been blessed to avoid the terrible sickness of opiate withdrawl that I went through last year with this **** when I went CT off of it.
But I graduated to heroin which I stopped last month...but now I am or WAS taking oxymorphone...opana I guess most say. My lower back pain is so bad...and they can't diagnos it properly... Plus HELL YES I like the high..I have badass bipolar... Just can't stop...damn I kicked smack...just sooo ****ing tired.... I guess you all heard this sorry too much..but it IS real man...some can't stay the right way....
Endo has been the major distributor of oxymorphone throughout the world and currently markets oxymorphone in the United States and elsewhere as Opana and Opana ER. Opana is available as 5 mg and 10 mg tablets; Opana ER, an extended-release form of oxymorphone, is available as tablets in strengths of 5 mg, 7½ mg, 10 mg, 15 mg, 20 mg, 30 mg, and 40 mg.
Oxycodone is about half as strong as Oxymorphone per mg. So you were talking 60mg of Oxycontin (Oxycodone) and going by a Opioid (Narcotic) analgesic converter you would need 30mg of Opana (Oxymorphone) to get the same pain releif and most likley the same to cover the withdrawl. You are now taking 10mg of Opana where 30mgs is what the converter says you need. You need to talk to your Dr. about dosage and don't take more than your Dr wrote the Opana for until he or she OKs it.
DEPENDECY IS ABSOLUTELY A DEFINATE. BUT ITS HOW WELL YOU CONTROL YOURSELF DURING THE WEENING OFF STAGE THAT DETERMINES HOW UNCOMFORTABLE YOU GET. IT IS STRONGLY STRONGLY RECCOMENDED THAT YOU USE SUBOXONE TO DETOX IF YOU HAVE A HISTORY OF DRUG ABUSE EVEN IF IT'S JUST IN YOUR FAMILY HISTORY NOT YOUR OWN. THE REASON IT'S SO DANGEROUS IS THAT I'VE TRIED EVERY DRUG THAT CAUSES ANY TYPE OF HIGH, AND AN OPANA HIGH IS MORE BLISSFULL THAN ANYTHING ELSE IVE EVER TRIED. BY MILES AND MILES!!!!
What type of pain do you have? How severe is it? How often do you plan on using the drug? Daily, as pain arises, etc. (These are all questions you and your doctor should discuss). Acetaminophen and Oxcycodon are used for different types and degrees of pain they are not to be used interchangeably. Acetaminophen is used to relieve mild to moderate pain from headaches, muscle aches, menstrual periods, colds and sore throats, toothaches, backaches, and to reduce fever.
Opana is oxymorphone and it is a strong opiate. It is a long half life drug and if u do not abuse it, it may help u. Roxy is a short acting drug which trains ur brain to crave it every 4-6 hours due to the endorphin release produced when u take drugs like narcoticis. there is an article in the health pages on dopamine and narcotics. I have never heard of using opana to stop drugs cos it is a strong narc and i would be careful.
Given that you can tolerate oxycodone, which metabolizes into oxymorphone, tells me you can probably also tolerate oxymorphone in immediate release form??? Switching from oxycodone to oxymorphone 6x per day, might reduce your BT pain without the need of an additional opioid. But, I am not sure if you have tried Opana yet or not. You could also continue to use oxycodone for BT pain (just in case) or the fentanyl Actiq lollipops.
She also would take more and more of oxy when she was on it, but has no desire to do so with methadone. Does anyone know if hydromorphone (dilaudid) and oxymorphone (opana) have the same effects as methadone or oxy - in general, do they make you tired or hyper? I realize everyone is different, but would like your opinions if you used either one of these meds. Her doctor is thinking of switching her to either hydromorhone or oxymorphone. Are these considered drugs of choice?
The severity is different depending on how much and how long we used. You are not alone in this battle! Sorry HadEnough, I jacked your post. LOL! Just remember to take care of YOU first and the rest will take care of itself. We have no control over anything outside of ourselves. It took me a loooong time to realize and accept that. We can't make people or circumstances be what we want them to be. That's part of accepting life on life's terms.
I want him to do it, however I am not sure I'll even know him w/out the meds? Will he be sick, mean, crazy?????????? How long does it take??? Please help.
just looked it up must not be what I thought it was.......... but I got a shot of it when I was sick and it didn't help me at all........... NUBAIN (nalbuphine hydrochloride) is a synthetic opioid agonist-antagonist analgesic of the phenanthrene series. It is chemically related to both the widely used opioid antagonist, naloxone, and the potent opioid analgesic, oxymorphone.
Hi MrsSinger, Welcome to our Pain Management Forum. I have not heard that Opana has any less addictive qualities then any other opiate in it's class. Addiction is far different then dependency. It's a statistical fact that less then 4% of Chronic Pain patients ever become addicts. I am not sure where your physician is coming from with his statements. CP patients normally do not obtain a "high" when taking medications as prescribed...
espically when you are jumping from oxycodone to hydrocodone to oxymorphone to OCs... I have to just be strong. Limit myself and DO NOT let myself take more than I did the day before and take less each week. I HAVE TO GET MY LIFE BACK! I DON'T EVEN HAVE A JOB BECAUSE OF THIS! I LOST EVERYTHING AND NOW I RELY ON HANDOUTS FOR EVERYTHING! I HAAAAAATE PILLS.
Its a love hate relationship, i love how they make me feel but i hate what they do to me. Roxys have cost me almost everything including money, family and the love of my life. It all started with 10 mg percocet and has gradually escalated to about 120-180 mg of oxycodone per day. I have quit taking percocet at will in the past, cold turkey multiple times in the past. My fiance left me in February of this year (probably the right decision on her part).
in Jan of this year (10), I fell out of racking from 6.5 feet up. Half way down, my head bounced off a steam beam so hard that i had whip lash, and i landed on the concrete floor on my tailbone. Its been about 10 months now, and the pain is worse now more than ever! The pain started in my lower back, and has crept to my mid back, and actually all over my back.
