Oxycontin withdrawal oxycodone

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin withdrawal oxycodone

oxycontin

Avatar m tn Was just curious. Do withdrawal symptoms differ depending on what type of opiates ones using? I meen I'm taking perc. 30's will my withdrawals be different from let's say if I was gonna withdrawal from morphine? Or is a withdrawal a withdrawal? I hope that makes sense! I'm just trying to figure out what I'm in for. I've went through withdrawals from large amounts of vicodin E/S, and ofcourse that was miserable.. Recently I've been doing alot of the perc.
Avatar f tn I take 20 mg of oxycontin morning and night. I use oxycodone twice a day 5/325. I have chronic pain. Severe arthritis, fibromyalgia, senior citizen, unemployed. I am ready to stop taking oxycontin. I've used them for about a year and a half. I had exhaustion and left my job. I've had two knee replacements. I am ready to return to the workforce. I hope half-time. Money is an issue and my husband is ill with Alzheimer's. He is in LTC at this time.
Avatar f tn On 10/13, I had total knee replacement. They put me on lots of pain meds including morphine, percocet and oxycontin. I am home and have to go to PT twice weekly which is quite painful. I went to my surgeon on 11/2 and he said to wean off of oxycontin and oxycodone. He didn't explain how to go about that. My husband cut the oxycontin in half and I took that once at night and once in the morning for 3 days.
Avatar f tn 5 s a day when I crushed my ribs in 2001 and found it took care of the fibro pain - and the back pain I was having after a day of physical work. My Dr switched me to Oxycodone after an epidural - it's a terrible depressing feeling drug for me. He won't go back to Norco. Do you think I am having withdrawals from taking 3 tabs 10/325 (I only took a few oxycodone) for 5 years or this is fibro. Without the Norco I am always fatigued, achy, and confused feeling.
4204073 tn?1361831476 Then, there is Oxycontin, which is a long acting, sustained release form of Oxycodone (again, no Tylenol). Then there is Percocet, which is Oxycodone with Tylenol (which is available in different strengths).
Avatar n tn oxycontin is slow released with a longer half life than oxycodone/percs...would be easier with the percs...especailly at ur dose...good luck...glad u r doing it now...
Avatar m tn I have been taking Oxycontin 20mg 2 to 3 times a day with 10mg Oxycodone for breakthrough pain when needed since January 2006. I started weening myself down to 1 20mg pill a day 4 days ago. My nose runs like crazy and my legs and lower back just ache. Is there something I can do to help this leg ache? I have 8 20mg pills left and many breakthrough pills left. Do I have enough pills left to ween myself off safely? I have a Heart condition with a replacement Aortic valve.
Avatar m tn Not sure if you are talking about oxycontin or oxycodone pills in various mixes and forms. Either way, oxycontin and percoccet have the narcotic oxycodone in it. Oxycontin is pure oxycodone in a time release form while percoccet is a mix of oxycodone and another OTC pain reliever. Oxycodone is a stronger narcotic then the narcotic in vicodin which is hydrocodone. Both will cause WD. The WD from oxycodone was always much worse for me then hydrocodone but some say it's the same.
558096 tn?1255887002 I believe the difference is in the release of the medication. Oxycontin is a 12 hour sustained release form of Oxycodone, and then there is an Oxycodone immediate release, taken every six hours, which I think is Percocet. Percocet is a combination of Oxycodone and Acetaminophen.
Avatar n tn Oxycodone is about half as strong as Oxymorphone per mg. So you were talking 60mg of Oxycontin (Oxycodone) and going by a Opioid (Narcotic) analgesic converter you would need 30mg of Opana (Oxymorphone) to get the same pain releif and most likley the same to cover the withdrawl. You are now taking 10mg of Opana where 30mgs is what the converter says you need. You need to talk to your Dr. about dosage and don't take more than your Dr wrote the Opana for until he or she OKs it.
Avatar f tn I was also prescribed oxycontin for awhile. Before the oxycontin I was taking oxycodone. They were 5mg and I was instructed to take 2 every 4 to 6 hours as needed for pain so I was taking 10mg every 5 hours or so. When my doctor switched me to oxycontin I was started with the 10mg. He upped it within a week because I felt more relief from the oxycodone immediate release. Get the picture? Oxycontin and oxycodone are the same type of narcotic. The difference is oxycodone has acetaminophen.
Avatar m tn I'm just short of 60 hours since my last dose of oxycodone. I have no withdrawal symptoms at all -- none. I even slept fairly well last night w/o any sleep aids (except melatonin, an over-the-counter supplement which I have been taking for years). For those who don't know my history, I was on oxycodone for about 3 months. The first two were fairly low dosages (10-20 mg/day) to help me deal with significant sciatic pain caused by a synovial cyst in my lumbar spine.
Avatar n tn t work for the Oxycontin so I am combining a 20mg Oxycontin tablet with the short acting Oxycodone. The only withdrawal symptom I have noticed so far is that I am a bit tired. Nothing more. To date, I am down to 22.5mg 4 times a day. I was horrifed by the number of people who feel impending doom or experience unbearable withdrawal while weaning themselves or otherwise quitting this drug.
Avatar m tn I am not an expert but here is what I think. Oxycodone IR is know as OxyContin is a slow release medication. It stays in your system for at least 12 or more hours. You may achieve some of it's effect for up to 16 hours. As you take the next dose it builds on the previous doses so now you have 20mg is your system. The next dose adds another 10mg so now you have 30mg in your system and so on. Percocet is the short acting form of OxyContin and is Oxycodone with acetaminophen.
Avatar m tn m sure its the percocet but am alittle confused about the difference between Percocet and the oxycontin as they both have said....OXYCODONE... on the label is the oxy just a time release percocet?
Avatar f tn I mean, I know Oxycontin is slow release, but percocet is Oxycodone and how is that different from the Oxycontin? I thought they were the same only, one was slow release and one was not, but there must be another difference... Right?
Avatar m tn I was on oxycodone 10 to 20mg/day for about 2 months before the surgery for pain (taking at night to let me sleep). After surgery I went home on 80mg/day -- 10mg OxyContin 2x/day and 10mg oxycodone every 4 hours. After 2 weeks I started reducing the dosage. I got down to about 30mg/day (the OxyContin 2x/day and 10mg oxycodone - 5mg at bedtime and another 5mg in the middle of the night when I would wake up).
Avatar m tn as of today ive had only 4 10mg hydrocodone and no oxycontin...my calves and legs are absolutely killing me, and my worst withdrawal symptoms are mental, where i find myself feeling completely worthless and just plain bored....any advice would be greatly appreciated. my "mild dosages" are destroying my life.
900459 tn?1304993259 AS far as withdrawal form the hydrocodone I believe that you will not have any problems with that since the patch is a much stronger narcotic. I would suggest that you talk to your doctor extensively about your concerns. this could be the drug that helps you and to be honest you need to stay away from the hydrocodone because it does contain Tylenol and taking this for an extended period of time is really bad for your liver and can/will cause damage that is irreversible.
Avatar f tn About a month prior to surgery, my Dr prescibed my OxyContin (2x20mg per day) to supplement the OxyCodone IM that I had been taking for about 6 months prior. Even though the surgery was successful, my Dr. upped my doseage of OxyContin to 40MG 3x per day and 10mg OxyCodone, 2 every 6 hours as needed, plus Soma every 8 hours. I'm currently in physical theraphy, so I'm wondering if the pain isn't coming mostly from that these days?
Avatar f tn oxycodone is the drug in percocet and oxycontin. Oxycontin is just a brand name.
