Oxycontin withdrawal length of time

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin withdrawal length of time

oxycontin

Avatar n tn Withdrawals from methadone can be pretty rough. It tends to stay in your body longer so the w/d is longer too. My 2 cents is to taper down then quit.
Avatar n tn 10mg is not a whole lot of oxy, so you should be through the main part of the withdrawal by now. You could be experiencing some symptoms of PAWS- you can read about this in the Health Pages. Unfortunately, Anxiety is common after people withdrawal. It can stick around for up to a month, but will get better. Exercise and suppliments like in the Amino Acid Protocol (Health Pages) work well. Keep posting and reading other posts. Lots of people, including me - have been in your shoes.
Avatar f tn The length and severity of depression is different for everyone. It has a lot to do with how long you were abusing and at what dosage. I see that you were only on them for 4-5 months and at a relatively low dose, which means a faster recovery for you. Are you currently on any antidepressants? If not, you may want to consult a Doctor and discuss your depression treatment options. I also recommend you start attending NA meetings.
Avatar n tn s really a personal thing after that (dose and length of use) I am 19 days off of Targin (oxycontin and nalexone) 100 mg and still feeling withdrawal symptoms-but I've been functional (mostly) for about a week. I recommend looking up The Thomas Recipe if you haven't already and getting yourself a good multi vitamin and whey protein. Stay hydrated and do as much exercise as you can handle. Hot baths and bananas for the restless legs and anxiety.
Avatar m tn i recently rose to 3-4 80s per day and my wds are so bad that i have not even been able to make it 3 days. You are lucky because your length of use is short enough to where you may be able to avoid the worst part of wds. However, if you continue to use the amount you are currently using you will soon be in a position where you lose control of everything. Your brain is going to stop producing natural endorphins because you are feeding it with the ultimate euphoria (oxy)..
Avatar m tn What you describe are classic and normal symptoms of withdrawal from a high mg daily dose..Being a veteran of three cases of oxycontin withdrawal..I would not wish it on my worst enemy as well..If you can find a "non-oxycodone" based way to manage your pain, I would highly suggest you seek an alternative..
Avatar m tn Oh yes it will end. I know it feels like it won't but it will. It mostly depends on the length of time you were on the meds and how long you were taking them as to how long all this will last. And yes the oxy would have restarted your w/d's. You should be pretty well almost over the physical part. The anxiety, insomnia and lack of energy can last awhile depending on how long you were on them.
Avatar m tn Luckily you have only been taking them for 4 months now, and catching it before it spirals out of control. Congrats on wanting to get clean man, it takes a lot of balls to do what your doing! After about 5 days you start feeling better but your mind is going to crave the drug a lot, so if you have the resources try to go to some NA or something maybe go talk to a councelour. Someone being there for you to talk to helps with the mental part.
Avatar f tn I take 20 mg of oxycontin morning and night. I use oxycodone twice a day 5/325. I have chronic pain. Severe arthritis, fibromyalgia, senior citizen, unemployed. I am ready to stop taking oxycontin. I've used them for about a year and a half. I had exhaustion and left my job. I've had two knee replacements. I am ready to return to the workforce. I hope half-time. Money is an issue and my husband is ill with Alzheimer's. He is in LTC at this time.
1639955 tn?1300575126 s? You definitely are going through some form of withdrawal and that is the trade off with the taper method. You lengthen the withdrawal symptoms but they are minimized by tapering use.....If you are already basically in full blown withdrawal you might as well flush the rest of your pills and go it cold turkey.....I am not as sensitive as some on this site.....I am a firm believer of Cold Turkey!!!! If you have already tapered then you have done the best you could and now it is time to stop.
Avatar f tn What are the withdrawal symptoms off of Oxycontin of a long time abuser? Is it always different depending on the person?
Avatar m tn 9 months ago I had my first knee replacement, I was actually prescribed 30mg 4x per day for pain management. I actually, found the meds to be to strong and requested a lower dose of 10mg 3x per day. I continued to take this dosage ip until my second surgery in April. My tolerance level was high and the pain was horrible, as a result I was prescribed 30 mg 4x per day and this time the dosage wasn't too strong.
Avatar n tn Approximately one year ago she was prescribed Oxycontin (180 mg per day) for relief from pain of fibromyalgia, DDD and carpal tunnel. Her doctor stopped prescribing about 7-8 months ago and she has been getting it from a friend. She is tired of the addiction and seems determined to kick it. I want to help her succeed but need some advice.
647137 tn?1299266391 I've been taking Hydro's for years and Got off of them for awhile and found Oxycontin. I get a couple 80mg's and just take half a day, so around 40mg's per day. I've been taking them for about a month straight now. I don't know much about the withdrawal from them. If it's exactly like Hydro withdrawal, but my question is is that strong strength I'm taking per day and will I have extreme wd's? Thanks in advance for all your help!
Avatar m tn In my and others experience, the best withdrawal method is a process of cutting back your dosage over time. Going into a rehab unit is pure hell. And anyway you are not an addict. Take it slow friend. In my humble opinion the vicodin you may want to stay on the longest. Percs make me feel depressed. Vicodin does not do that. I am a pain patient. This may sound counter intuitive but oxycontin acts longer with getting a less addictive buzz or high like one does on vikes(hydrocodone).
Avatar f tn Would substituting hydrocodone for oxycontin help me in my efforts to withdraw from 40 mg twice a day of oxycontin. I'm getting terrible leg pains and restless legs, plus stomach bloating, cramps and severe digestive problems. I thought something was really wrong with my stomach until I read that those are normal detox symptoms. Any suggestions would help as my doctor is useless and don't want to take me off the meds but yet he claims I'm addicted to it. What can I do.
406989 tn?1202051282 oh yea, and erections that are so hard it hurts. i know this could b a good thing but they are mostly at the wrong time of day. the hot baths works well for the sweats and they are not as frequent (once or twice a day for about 30 seconds or so). i did mention taken that opana, thats all i smell (from my body) and it makes my stomach turn.
Avatar n tn The VA called today, and will not prescribe the pain pills anymore. My husband says he is kind of relieved, wants to get off of them anyways. He has two pills of the oxycontin left, as tomorrow was when they would be refilled. He also has 17 percocets left. Can someone tell me what we can expect for withdrawal symptoms over the next few days? We are facing this as a family, and want to do what is best to help him through this. Thank you.
Avatar n tn Six months ago I used Suboxone to get off a 640mg habit. Did real good until I hurt my back. I got real depressed with lots of pain and started to take them again. I'd like to get off and heard of tramadol helping. Suboxone withdrawal was awful for me. This site makes tramadol sound like a bad idea. Beginning to think I have to go away or go to rapid detox.
Avatar m tn Hi - sorry for your discomfort. Have you considered Suboxone? You can get thru the withdrawal w/o any discomfort and then wean off of the sub quickly (10-15 days) and you'll feel pretty good. That's how it worked for me. Some people stay on the Suboxone longer. If you have to work thru withdrawals, then that's the only route I can think of that will work. I couldn't hardly get out of bed when in withdrawal, let alone work or do anything like visiting customers.
