t say whether it helped or not! I still had all of the typical withdrawal symptoms! It may have helped some! I still took Immodium, and potassium, and a multivitamin! I still had sleep issues! If I ever (Heaven forbid) had to do it over again, I'm not sure I would spend the money again! I'm not sure this was too helpful, but hopefully others will weigh in!

So, now she is off the butalbital - cold turkey and says the withdrawal is hell. Does anyone know how long the withdrawal lasts? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
It will take more than a week. Withdrawals last about a week and then the side affects start. It's best to talk to you dr because going cold turkey is rough.
Thanks for the responses and great advice. I'm sure it's not wise but I was hoping to try it first on my own. I understand why trying cold turkey would not be wise, but would it be possible to taper myself? How fast should I go down and how long would it take. I've already dropped a little. If I fail I could always talk to my doctor. I've thought about just checking into a treatment program but they're so expensive.
If your hesitant about the sub, then dont use it. If you must use it, then use it sparingly and just to ease the withdrawal a little and help you through it. A little goes a long way with sub, so 25 2mg should be plenty.. prob more than enough... Its important that you know none of us are doctors and only you know what is right for you. Like worried said the best way is seeing a specialist who can help you with this..and dose you properly..

The symptoms you describe sounds like classic diazepam withdrawal. It shouldn't last much longer, 10 days is about the norm, so you'll probably be over the worst. You can still feel fairly crappy up to 3 weeks but nothing like as bad as just now.
Drink plenty of water (8-10 glasses a day) and cut right back on tea and coffee, keeping a close eye on your blood sugars. Drink plenty fresh orange juice too.

Everyone is different, but for me, the withdrawal symptoms lasted about a week, and peaked in intensity about days 3 and 4! It really does depend on how much and how long, to estimate how strong and long your symptoms will be! If you haven't already done so, please check out the Thomas Recipe at the bottom of the page! There are vitamins and supplements that you can take which will help with the withdrawal symptoms! Drink tons of fluids like water and Gatorade to help flush your system!
