Oxycontin withdrawal effects

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin withdrawal effects

oxycontin

Avatar f tn I would make sure that this last prescription wasn't accidentally filled with the instant release and not the ER version... And I think you blended two med names with Oxycontin MS...Oxycontin is a med all by itself..It is Oxycodone in Continuous formula...hence the "contin"....MS usually stands for Morphine Sulfate and comes in both IR (immediate release) or ER (extended release formulas)... If it is a 12 hour version...then usually most Drs. are ok with dosing it every 8 hours..
Avatar m tn After several years of losing absolutely everything to oxycontin I think that this time I am actually finally on top of weening off of both. I've been through horrible withdrawal in the past that have kept me from being able to quit so instead I have been reducing what I take bit by bit this time and so far have been sticking with it. One question though - since I started reducing my intake of oxy's I have not been able to keep my eyes open for long.
Avatar f tn It was a pretty bad knee and I had the oxycontin/endone for about three weeks. I suffered badly with the withdrawal and four plus weeks post op went to my general practitioner and said I wanted something for the pain, but without side effects or constipation. She recommended panadol osteo, which is strong panadol and timed release. Not magic but a great help as long as I keep taking eight hourly. I wish someone had told me about this earlier.
Avatar f tn I broke my neck some years ago so sustained nerve damage although I am still mobile. I have been on Fentenyl, Oxycontin and now Methadone. I am taking myself off Methadone, with my doctor's knowledge and have been told that my lexapro is a dangerous mix with methadone as well. I stopped titrating down off methadone and now am at 30mgs per day but I am now titrating down my lexapro dose. I'm finding that both drugs are hell to detox from! Has anyone come off Lexapro or an SSRI?
Avatar f tn My husband got off Oxycontin about a year ago. He had been taking 40 mg/day for about 8 months, for chronic pain. From what I've read in other posts, this sounds like a pretty low dose, but he, nonetheless, looked, sounded, and acted drugged, the whole time. He was irritable and yelled way more than he used to. Whenever he ran out of pills he would panic and complain until he found a doctor he could convince to prescribe him some more.
Avatar m tn i tried my hardest but i just couldnt cope with the horrid withdrawal effects. i was wondering if i should go to the doctors and see if he can perscribe me something to help ease off the oxy or make the withdrawal less emotionally crippling.
Avatar f tn i had the same effects from oxycontin. the 'new' formula is actually illegal in other countries, but it is good enough for us, i guess. it contains 2 very cancer causing toxins. that is what keeps people from crushing, chewing, shooting it, etc. they DO cause digestive problems. your best bet is to stay away from them and never take them again.
Avatar n tn I am new to this website, however not new to addiction. I was on oxycontin about 3 years ago and ended up having to do the rapid detox to get off of them. I did really well up until I had my baby (by c-section) 6 months ago and was giving perocet 10/325, then a month later I had my appendics removed and given more perocets. Needless to say I have been taking them for the past 6 months and enough is enough. I can honestly say I never abused them this go around.
Avatar f tn I have been taking Oxycontin, previously with backup Oxycodone for about 2 years (spinal surgeries, and brachial plexus nerve damage). I have taken it throughout my pregnancy, (now 7 month) under the guidance of my respected pain management physician - tapering down from 80 mg/ day, to now just 15 mg per day. I have not had withdrawal symptoms, just increasing nerve pain as I taper off which is making life extremely difficult.
Avatar f tn What are the withdrawal symptoms off of Oxycontin of a long time abuser? Is it always different depending on the person?
