Oxycontin side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin side effects

oxycontin

Avatar n tn I was wondering if anyone new about the side effects of Oxycontin. I am currently taking 60 mg. 3 times a day for chronic pain. I have notice among other things that my sex drive has pretty much disappeared and that I have real problems getting erections if I may be so bold here. So I was wondering if anyone knows if that is a normal side effect of this drug. Also sweating and chills seem to be happening alot.
909257 tn?1242668182 Pain medications have numerous side effects and those who do take pain meds on a regular basis do usually have some kind of depression due to the fact that they do have chronic pain but as far as the meds causing depression or bipolar no I do not believe so.
Avatar f tn My question is does the morphine make you really nauseated and throw up. The last few days the side effects have slowed down, but I would still like to hear some suggestions from people in the forum.
922573 tn?1304099329 t want to be on anything too strong. After several failed attempts at other medications (side effects), we decided to try Oxycontin since that has always worked in the past without any negative side effects. For some reason I don't tolerate the new formulation well. It makes me nauseous, causes cramping, etc...
230948 tn?1235844329 I was so irritable all the time. All I could do was stay in bed. I realized these were all side effects of this patch. The side effects of the patch so adversely effected my life I decided to take it off one night. I went through a detox like you'd never imagine. I had hallucinations, vomitting etc. I had no idea what I had done. I put the patch back on, and weened myself off of it over the next two weeks. I just couldn't live that way.
Avatar f tn My doc switched me from Neurontin to Lyrica because she said it had less side effects. She was wrong. A month later, the right side of my face went numb and I could not talk--I felt like I had mush mouth and thought maybe I was having a stroke. I talked to the pharmacist and he said 15 % of patients on Lyrica get ataxia, so he was not surprised. I went off of it and went back on the Neurontin. My doc told me some of her patients became incontinent on Lyrica so be careful.
Avatar f tn I would make sure that this last prescription wasn't accidentally filled with the instant release and not the ER version... And I think you blended two med names with Oxycontin MS...Oxycontin is a med all by itself..It is Oxycodone in Continuous formula...hence the "contin"....MS usually stands for Morphine Sulfate and comes in both IR (immediate release) or ER (extended release formulas)... If it is a 12 hour version...then usually most Drs. are ok with dosing it every 8 hours..
1366202 tn?1277990898 Dexamethasone will have a lot of side effects. You do need to talk to your doc - but it will interfere with your sleep. Dex is a corticosteroid - a powerful one - and taking it will reduce your immune system as well as your inflammatory responses. The anxiety is from the med - you may be getting a bit of Cushing's syndrome with your meds. I would speak to the doc about lessening the meds a tad bit or spreading them out.
Avatar n tn There is no way to taper off of oxycontin with no ill side effects. It is a very strong opiate and unfortunately, there is no easy way out. Tapering is tricky there are some people who can do and there are more people who can't. Part of the problem with tapering is that you are essentially in prolonged wds over weeks or months as opposed to full on wds for a shorter time period. The severity is much less for a taper but it is way longer.
Avatar m tn Hello. This is my first post & I'll do my best to make it brief. Over 7 weeks I took 68 Suboxone pills starting at 12 mgs daily. Shortly later to to 10 mg, then 8 for about 3 weeks then I began to have bad effects, either an allergic reaction or i was overdosing. the Symptoms were very tight chest, times that I couldn't breathe & swelling of my throat to the point I thought it might close.
2991133 tn?1340046931 The side effects may be intensified ie: sleepiness, etc. so I would have someone nearby to monitor you just in case. I take both medsa as well and have never had trouble, but everyone is different. I would also recommend speaking to your doctor or nurse regarding this issue. Hope that helps!! Best of luck to you!!
Avatar m tn Are you sure it's a migraine? I have migraines and thought withdrawals triggered them, too. But, it was actually tension headaches. You may want to get a script for something like Imitrex and try it. I will tell you that for most people, the headaches go away in a month or so. So, try and just tough it out.
Avatar m tn While they do work, they make me lethargic and I do not like the side effects. My Dr recently changed to Fentanyl patches, 100mg, but they do not seem to work well at all! I realize it takes times to build in my bloodstream and it's been 20 hours. I tried them two months ago and they never kicked in so I went back to OxyContin, but alas..,the side effects of sleepiness, lethargy, constipation. Right now, I'm lying in bed on ice, with my back and body throbbing horribly. The Dr.
491984 tn?1463398730 Has anyone experienced adverse side effects from the new formula of oxycontin?
Avatar n tn It is of course her decision re whether lowering the risk in her case is worth enduring the side effects. If she does choose to take an AI and the side effects of Arimidex are intolerable, she could see if she would do better on a different one. However, in at least one recent study, Arimidex came out ahead of the others in preventing recurrence. Best wishes to both you and your wife...
725248 tn?1316162245 does this possible side effect go away as your body adjusts like most side effects...OR...is this known to continue w/ opana use? also...if you do end up going up on dosage does that start the side effects all over again or once you go thru intial adjustment u could be home free? fyi--i've been on lortab, vicoden, norco and percocet in the past (at seperate times) and lortab-no drowsy or headache vicoden-drowsy norco-indifferent...
Avatar m tn ve seen of fentanyl detox and my own year long, slow methadone recovery, I think fentanyl and methadone are only different in dosage. The full synthetic nature and side effects of both methadone and fentanyl make them very close tie for the worst detox ever. As I vomit and shat myself in my yard from methadone detox, I remember wishing I was a heroin or any other kind of addict. Anyway, mute point, but wanted to share. How much and how long methadone use have you got under your belt bullseye?
Avatar m tn How do the pharmaceutical companies manage to put into the marketplace drugs that can kill you. As long as they advertise the side effects ,which in most cases can cause something far worse than what you are taking the drug for, than they are legal. You are baking these drugs at your own risk and that risk is rarely explained to you. You can say to the doctor,"I don't want that drug, " and he replaces it with another that is just as bad.
