Oxycontin recreational dose

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin recreational dose

oxycontin

Avatar f tn Does oxycontin as recreational use exhibit symptoms of indifference and apathy and unconcern over everyday obligations and responsibilities which prior to use were contradictory to the persons character. In other words a complete change of personally untecogisable by loved ones?
Avatar m tn I have been on this never ending cycle of oxycontin for about 2 years now. I started off at low doses and now take up to 160mg at once. This was all for recreational use. I started suboxone treatment a year ago and hadn't touched anything for a year. About 8 months ago I relapsed and ever since I have been back and forth between oxy and subs. I can take about 1-2 mg of sub and be fine but I want to quit this cold turkey.
Avatar f tn Then when you get used to the reduced dose, try going longer in between each dose until you are down to only one dose per day. Since the medication you are taking is controlled release, I can't recommend that you break it in half, but with a regular opiate, that would be the next step. Have you spoken to your doctor about a taper plan? Good luck - keep posting, there are many here who have been in your shoes who can offer some good advice.
Avatar n tn Ive been taking oxycontin for over5years now. At first it was taken as a recreational thing and while i split with my exhusband which happen was abusive and revengeful it stressed me out and started taking 3-4 80mg a day but that ran out and i went through alot of withdrawls 4 about 2days till i was able to find more. but i was able to get by ok with 1 80mg a day which i had cut in quarters and take them at specefic times during the day.2days ago i lost my only connect and im withdrawling.
Avatar m tn opana is oxymorphone, it is more potent than morphine and is somewhat similiar to oxycontin, it has lots of recreational abuse, as long as a good drug for pain management, when needed...
Avatar f tn ve been prescribed 3-80mg oxycontins twice a day for the last 8yrs,now the docter is weening me off and is going to try a spinal cord stimulator on me,I also got 7 bottles of oxyfast every month( liquid oxycontin for break thru pain) he had me start to ween off by taking 2-80s every 12hrs and 20mgs of the oxyfast in between, now i'm down to 1-80 every 8hrs.I went through that,IT WAS'NT EASY.
Avatar n tn You were taking 120 mg of Oxycontin split up into 3 daily doses and now you are on 120 mg of MS Contin split up into 2 daily doses. When I convert your current dose of MS Contin into Oxycontin equivalent, you are taking 60 mg less of Oxycontin through the MS Contin.
Avatar m tn No, I have Clonezapam for at night but the other drugs all recreational not addicted as I do them infrequently but Heroin more and more when I can't get OXY and I am stopping that this week.....vicious circle..
Avatar f tn In the end I felt I only needed the morning and night dose of Oxycontin. I went home and continued as directed by my doctor to take 1 20mg morning and night and continued my P.T. After two weeks I decided I did not seem to have much pain anymore so I stopped taking the Oxycontin on a Saturday morning. I began to go into severe withdrawals by the evening and was up all night with all the horrible symptoms.
Avatar m tn I encourage you to work with your doctor on a dose titration if your pain is poorly controlled. Given the right dose of oxycontin, you may not require any other pain medication for 12 hours, which would be nice given your profession. Hope that helps. Let us know if you have any other questions. Take care.
Avatar f tn What are your exact doses and times per day that you are prescribed the Oxycontin? And is it only oxycontin, or is some of it percocet--or some other IR Oxycodone? Do you take anything for breakthrough? I have seen many posts from people who take as much or more than you, so you may be able to get an increase, depending on the type and dosages you are on. Severe chronic pain can often require those large amounts, so do not feel bad about taking that amount.
Avatar m tn I take mine three times a day instead of twice but I am on a much smaller dose. Adding that third dose made a huge difference in my pain control. Again I don't know if it will help but it might be worth a try. Please let us know if you discover anymore than we have talked about and if you are able to find a solution. I wish you the very best.
Avatar f tn s an upper back right side spinal injury caused from computer use and the more I use my right arm the higher the pain goes. I ended up on OxyContin 10mg SR twice a day plus 5mg Endone for breakthrough pain. To cut a very very long story short by January 2012 I had been increased by my Dr incrementally as the pain increased until I was taking around 140mg OxyContin and 180mg OxyNorm every day. But the pain was getting worse. Dr changed me to 80mg SR and tapered off OxyNorm.
823838 tn?1238614375 I was on 75mcg durageezic patches since last november and just switched to 40mg Oxycontin 2 x daily and ended up doubling my dose and ran out. It's been 24 hours since my last dose and I am having very little or no withdrawl symptoms. Am I in the clear or can I expect a trip to hell???
135691 tn?1271097123 While I was in the hospital these past couple of days, they started me on Oxycontin 40mg sustained release tablet. I've previously been taking percocets and I'm finding that, the longer I take them, the less of an effect they have on me, which I understand is totally normal. At the hospital, they were giving me the 40mg tablet every 6 hours and I literally felt in a constant daze - which was fine, when I was confined to a hospital bed!
Avatar m tn Taking 15 mg of MS Contin 3x a day is equivalent to taking 10 mg of Oxycontin 3x a day. I hate when doctors sneak in a significant dose reduction through a conversion to another opioid! Even factoring in a cross tolerance factor, your dose should have been at least 30 mg 3x a day. But to get the same strength you were getting from the Oxycontin through MS Contin, the dose of MS Contin should have been 45 mg 3x a day. Expect to experience increased pain and withdrawal symptoms.
Avatar f tn They put me on lots of pain meds including morphine, percocet and oxycontin. I am home and have to go to PT twice weekly which is quite painful. I went to my surgeon on 11/2 and he said to wean off of oxycontin and oxycodone. He didn't explain how to go about that. My husband cut the oxycontin in half and I took that once at night and once in the morning for 3 days. When I thought about the next steps to get off the oxycodone, I thought to call the pharmacy for advice.
Avatar n tn If you can cut down by 10-20% at a time it won't be so bad. I don't think you can do that with Oxycontin unless the doctor changes the dose for you everytime you reduce, unless you are chewing the pills. If you have already been cutting or chewing the pills you can try to reduce the amount every couple of days, or everyday if you can handle that if wd's aren't too bad and you should be okay. You will still have some wd's but they won't be near as bad.
Avatar f tn per day, I am out of percocet, but am taking the oxycontin. I feel kind of sick. Arent they the same thing? Why would I be having withdrawels? I take the meds for real pain, and ran out of the percocet, because I try not to take as much oxycontin, becuase it makes me tired and gives me a headache. Any ideas?
Avatar f tn I have read some interesting articles and blogs recently pertaining to post relapse dosages. For instance, say Mr. X was taking 160mg of oxycontin for quite awhile prior to quitting. That person has a moderate amount of clean time (1 year) and then relapses. For some reason, this person then seems to spike the dosages to an outrageous amount. What happens to make this person self destruct much faster and with deadlier dosages? I just don't understand how this happens. Any thoughts.....??
Avatar m tn My dr has asked me to think about changing from oxycodone 10/325 5xdaily (percocet) to oxycontin. I've done the research on oxycontin as requested and can see that they most likely are worrying about the dose of tylenol for so long. I do want to decrease pain meds and am worried about addiction. This percocet rx has been ongoing for at least 3-4 years on an increasing dose basis.
Avatar f tn I mean, I know Oxycontin is slow release, but percocet is Oxycodone and how is that different from the Oxycontin? I thought they were the same only, one was slow release and one was not, but there must be another difference... Right?
765775 tn?1366024691 I really believe you will skate through this compared to most. 25mgs is a very very low dose of oxycontin. I believe worried878 has said in the past that w/d is 90% mental. I believe at your dose it is. Now at higher doses, not quite sure I agree with her but she appears to be a strong willed woman. Best of luck and stay with us during this time. Their are AWESOME people on here that will guide you through this.
