Avatar m tn just will not tell you (unlike Suboxone) that will help me get through the withdrawal side effects of taking 200mg/day or more of Oxycontin for over a year now? Trust me I have tried alot including Suboxone and tapering, nothing really works. Even rehab, made it through but then right back on after a month.

Avatar f tn I take 3 80mg oxycontin a day from a legal script. I have always had a problem with pills and drugs. When I was young it was adderall to get up and Valium to go down. I have bad back pain and taking meds is the only option. I am better at taking them. There was a point when a 30 day supply would last a week or two. My wife trys to help but I can tell she is getting at her wits end. I want to take my meds as prescribed, but it's so hard.
Avatar f tn Hello, I have been on Oxycontin for a few months now (very low dose) and notice it only works about 5 hours. If my doctor increased my dose would it work closer to 8-12 hours? (I have been taking 15mg every 6 hours). I am thinking if I just take the whole 30mg maybe it would last longer than taking it in halves and when I reach 8 hours take break through meds. Anyone know if you have taken a higher dose if it last longer?
Avatar m tn I have no insurance and I was wondering if I splurged out of pocket for a doctor would it be possible to get a presciption for a painkiller (vicodin, oxycontin or percocet) or somthing like that to ease my pain?
Avatar f tn I take 20 mg of oxycontin morning and night. I use oxycodone twice a day 5/325. I have chronic pain. Severe arthritis, fibromyalgia, senior citizen, unemployed. I am ready to stop taking oxycontin. I've used them for about a year and a half. I had exhaustion and left my job. I've had two knee replacements. I am ready to return to the workforce. I hope half-time. Money is an issue and my husband is ill with Alzheimer's. He is in LTC at this time.
203342 tn?1328737207 The only problem is, they will then have to come up with another type of painkiller that could be a weaker narcotic, causing unnecessary pain and discomfort, or a stronger one which could increase the risk of addiction. So, let me get this straight. They want to pull very affective painkillers (which can only be prescribed by doctors) because they're afraid people will abuse them and may wind up replacing them with painkillers that can become addictive. Huh?
Avatar f tn I start chemo again in Sept, but in the mean time I'm suffering because my lymph nodes are pressing up against a nerve in my back. It is causing severe and constant pain from my back to my right knee and the kicker is that it hurts worse when I'm sitting or laying down, so I can hardly any sleep. They gave me Motrin and Oxycontin but it doesn't help at all. They also told me that I couldn't go to the chiropractor. Does anyone have any advice?
Avatar n tn I have a sponsee that has been taking lots of oxycontin for years. He has gone to addictionologists and also heard elsewhere that if he goes cold turkey off of oxy then he could die. His transition plan is to take subutex but thinks he needs to take it for years to keep from dying. Obviously, with 18 years clean I have never taken the stuff and do not want to advise as if I were a doctor. I definitely dont want to be responsible for killing him. My question is, can you die from cold turkey?
Avatar f tn Yup like the post above said it is more addicting then vics the main drug in percs is oxycodone which is the same as oxycontin and I'm sure u have heard bout how bad oxycontin is.
Avatar n tn I have been taking darvon for 2 years , was just told of recall for all darvon because it causes heart complications. With that being said I am now researching for a new safe pain reliever without any tylenol. I have Hep.
Avatar m tn t think any painkillers last past 8 hours, because that was why Oxycontin was so popular as it allowed a time release so people got a night's sleep. I am not a painkiller expert but imagine anything strong enough to kill pain for 2 days would more likely kill the person who ingested it, especially since your system was loaded with alcohol, which heightens the danger of this kind of medication.
413886 tn?1203607351 well, Oxycodone is a more powerful narcorin painkiller in general.. But you have to rememebr that people react to different meds differently as well. Because I know that for me oxycodone(my drug of choice) gives me a stronger buzz, longer pain relief, and worse withdrawls.. But, I know people that say the Hydrocodone does them better and makes their pain better than oxycodone.
Avatar f tn I WAS WONDERING IF THE GENERIC OXYCONTIN IS AS GOOD AS THE BRAND NAME BECAUSE I HAVE HEARD ITS NOT. ALSO DOES THE 10MG GENERIC HAVE GEL TOO?
Avatar n tn Why was c-phen dm infant drops recalled?
Avatar f tn My midwife says extra strength Tylenol is totally safe. For a migraine she suggested either taking it with caffeine (this is what over the counter migraine meds are made of) or together with a benadryl.
Avatar f tn Right now I am on percocet, methotrexate, meloxicam, and tazanidine and although the percocet helps, i am wondering if there is a painkiller out there as strong as percocet but less addictive that i can take instead.
Avatar n tn ve been doing alot of researching and reading about painkiller addiciton and the withdrawl symptoms. Im well aware that there a lot of other people with a stronger dependecy on painkillers than myself. However, I am currently going through some of the worst withdrawl symptoms. I began taking 1 sometimes 1 1/2 to 2 whenever I played poker because it seemed to relax me and help me not "tilt" (aka get angry and play bad).
