Oxycontin off the market

Common Questions and Answers about Oxycontin off the market

oxycontin

Avatar f tn Not trying to cause dissent as I am here to help in anyway I can but there is no longer a generic oxycontin formula on the market. When Purdue Pharma reformulated the pill and renamed it Oxycontin OP, that extended the patent on Oxycontin. Purdue Pharma won the lawsuit and all the generic manufacturers that were producing Oxycontin had to exit the market. A similar scenario happened with Opana ER. Endo Pharmaceuticals reformulated Opana ER so that it couldn't be crushed and snorted.
Avatar f tn I only stayed on the ativan for 2 weeks. Coming off the cymbalta was horrible I did it cold turkey but the side effects from that drug were horrible. So now Im weaning off Oxycontin.
Avatar m tn There is a new Oxycontin on the market. You should not cut any type of long-acting medication. Oxycontin is a long-acting medication and thus you shouldn't ever cut it because you can die of an overdose. The new pill is more tamper-proof. Please be careful. Yes, the 80mg. tablet is an extended release pill that releases medication over a 12 hour period. Can you talk to your doctor about the questions that you have? Are you prescribed oxycodone?
Avatar n tn Endo brought it back to the market in 2006 to compete against Oxycontin. Oxymorphone was the drug of choice in the movie Drugstore Cowboy, Matt Damin and his gang called them "Blues". Oxymorphone is also considered to be especially euphoric; comparable to or better than heroin. Look it up on Wikipedia!!!
Avatar m tn they are lumping pain patients in the same lot as addicts. the war on anything is a sleazy market for the police/prison/banker launderers complex who rule our politicians, lawmakers.
Avatar f tn As much as I hate to say this, Tramadol, when used correctly & as prescribed, is a very effective medication. Just because some of us on here have been addicted to it, and had horrible experiences with it, it doesn't mean that it should be taken off the market. Maybe educating doctors a bit more, regarding the addictive nature of the medication is the answer, I don't know, but just having it taken off the market will not work.
Avatar m tn I wont bore you with my story but been on and off pain meds for 4 years and now i want to get completly off. Avatar m tn Look at the oxycontin. They knew it was highly addictive but put it out there anyway. The makers of oxycontin were slapped with a fine which im sure was just a tax write off for them anyways. Its all a money game to the pharmaceutical companies and we are left holding the bag.
Avatar m tn If I miss a dose it triggers a migraine rebound headache. How can I taper off of oxycontin without triggering migraines, and without suffering the side effects of insomnia and anxiety ?
Avatar m tn I don't know what happened to my old thread on this topic, but anyway, Im 19 years old and I'v had severe ocd and anxiety since I was little kid. I was also diagnosed with depression about 4 years ago. I'v been prescribed about every anti-depressant on the market, as well as a couple different bi-polar meds, all of which did absolutely nothing for me, except have negative side effects.
Avatar f tn is it true.....will vicodin and percs be pulled off the market? wow! that would really help me!
Avatar m tn until you go all the way off that's why we said now would be a good time to jump..once you jump diarrhea may last a few days .For some the sleeplessness can take awhile I would exercise everyday it can help with the sleep.
Avatar f tn Dear Doctor: For the past ten years I've been taking both Oxycontin and OxyIR. My dosage has increased over the past five years and currently I am taking 340mg day. I've noticed, especially these past for years that I have absolutely no interesin anythig whatsoever. I shut myself away and don't want to talk to people, especiallly my husband. Since I was 17 years old, I've made my own way in life and quite successfully too.
Avatar m tn so my doctor changed medication to oxycontin 80 mg 4 tab per day. I would never abuse the drug, because for one reason another, it would never get me high. It worked great for my back pain and the shooting pain going down my legs. There were times when i throw up black stuff like blood. I was a pilot for an airline but i had to stop flying. I have my own business but with the economy, its been hard. I wanted to get off oxycontin one day. I was tired of taking medication everyday.
Avatar f tn he stuck to his doses, with frequent monitoring by the clinic.) However the IHS recently discontinued the pain management program and just left the patients with no help in getting off their meds. So he's just tapering himself down. He's having muscle spasms, restlessness, trouble sleeping, and mood swings. He's taking hot showers (can't take baths due to disability) and drinking a lot of gatorade. Is there anything else he can do?
Avatar m tn I want to get off them as I feel the addiction creeping up and I cannot stand going to the toilet every 6 days and I have have trouble urinating now. I have sores over my legs. Does anyone have any advice on what to expect for withdrawals and what I can do to get through it.
597547 tn?1251036764 ur so much better getting off that garbage. hang in there. u gotta see the big picture. see the forrest from the trees and all those cliches.
Avatar n tn STOP SNORTING NOW. if you are going to wean yourself off you need to swallow the pill. the sorting release the meds all at once...to give you the rush...i know i did it. but, if you are ever going to get clean you will have to find new roommates. as an addict you have to distance yourself from drugs...good luck and we are here to help.
Avatar n tn to answer the question on suboxen.. i have several friends that used suboxen to get off opiates and they have all said the withdrawals are ten times worse to get off of. Also, they ended up using the suboxen as their new drug..I wish you the best of luck because i am almost 60 days clean from lortabs and percs and last year i detoxed from oxy and it was the most difficult detox however once i made it through the physical part i did not want to go there again...
Avatar m tn No I cant get it tonight but I can first thing in the am, so we will see if it helps god I hope it does tomorrow is the day I have to go back to work been off the last 4 days which was good, I think it will be good to go to work and realize I can function I can do this its going to get better every day, I really have no one to confide in so that doesnt help I have to act like everything is ok, I covered up my first 6 days will a stomach bug hoping I could even myself out on the vic's and ste
Avatar n tn if you can get some percocet, which is the same ingredient in oxycontin and just take small small dosages of percocet when you get really sick, that will help with the tapering, but just avoid the oxys as much as possible.. taper off them with some help from percocet. but whatever.. you have some hell to go through but the fact is.. YOU WILL BE OK at the other side. There is a light on the OTHER SIDE.
Avatar f tn s a day now that opanas are off the market until about June or July my pain Dr.
Avatar f tn Hi, Yes you can be slowly weaned off of the Oxycontin. The first trimester is the most important and you need to see your OB ASAP to find a suitable pain medication regimine since your pregnant. it is so very important to the baby.
Avatar f tn I do remember a few years ago they ( FDA or some govt agency) were talking about taking vics off of the market because of people going into liver failure with taking them and mixing with other actiminaphine containing drugs.I guess upto 7000 mgs a day of actiminaphine is ok but still I dont know why.
1264863 tn?1391118193 great job on the taper, but oxycodone is the same stuff oxycontin is...same ingredients.....keep the tapering plan and eventually get off the last oxycodone and call it quits.....glad your doing better.
1264863 tn?1391118193 Did your doctor recommend anything aside from morphine? There are many long-acting pain medications on the market including the fentanyl patch, Oxycontin, MS Contin and methadone. I'm sure there are a few more I'm not aware of too. Many people have to try them all before they land on one that is both cost-effective and effective on their pain. Expect to experience some extra pain as your body adjusts so be patient when you make the change. Best of luck to you.
