oxycontin

Avatar f tn I'm also sorry to hear that you're not happy with the medication, but from what I've also heard and studied this medication is here to stay. It does seem that your body will need to get adjusted to the medication. I'm also hearing that some doctors have stopped prescribing the medication too, due to the fact the medication has been abused from people in the past. I'm so sorry to hear that your not happy.
Avatar f tn Some patients are only prescribed 2 doses, or tablets per day of a "long acting" pain killer (oxycontin, mscontin, methadone, etc.), on the assumption that they should be only taken every 12 hours. "Breakthrough" medicine ("quick acting, oxycodone, percocet, vicoden, etc.) is usually prescribed to combat any increases in pain throughout the day.
699217 tn?1323438700 I wanted to know what the difference is between hydrocodone and like-oxycontin or oxycodone, Percocet, tramadol, is this all just types of hydrocodone? All I ever took was hydrocodone....
Avatar n tn I know someone who has been on OxyContin for about 9 years for Fibromyalgia pain. This person gets about 90 OxyContin a month. I personally think that is outrageous. I really wish the FDA would get rid of this drug completely.
Avatar m tn Is there medication that can be taken to ease the withdraw of percoset and oxycontin?
Avatar n tn Are their benefits to taking methadone to oxycontin? Espeically when you are takin oxycondone for break through pain.
765775 tn?1366024691 I have had (10) surgeries in the past 18 months and have to have number (11) this Wednesday. My doctors have me on Oxycontin 20 mg. and Percocet 5/325. Currently I take (1) Oxycontin 20 mg. a day and (1) 5/325 Percocet a day. This does not totally releive my pain but I don't want to increase my dosage. I have been on the Oxycontin since November, 2008. Prior to that the doctors had me on Vicodin 7.5/750 every 4 to 6 hours.
Avatar m tn All of a sudden my insurance has switched to a managed care plan, which basically means more bureaucrats and less care/more problems. I've been on the same dosage of OxyContin (30mg) for a year combined with roxicodone (15mg) for breakthrough pain. For the OxyContin I've always needed a Prior Authorization.
Avatar m tn weakness, tired, confused, non tolerance of exercise, muscle weakness, sleep disturbance.center of headache, Taking only Metformin . You can please guide.
Avatar m tn It is very difficult to know anything based on what you posted. First, lab ranges even for the different labs in the US differ so without ranges - have no idea if you are low, high or normal. Second - no idea if you are sick or how you are sick. The tests run are not really run for adrenal except DHEA (and that is really more of an adrogen - e.g. it converts to testosterone and estrogen) so not sure why it belongs in this forum.
Avatar f tn however do not want a pain medication with tylenol. I am on another medication that is hard on the liver, so it is important that I stop this. My pain is also more resistant because of an arthritis component. Could anyone tell me what would be one step up from the Percocet that contains no tylenol. I am aware that long-term usage = increased tolerance, but, to be honest, addiction is the least of my worries.
Avatar m tn My dad takes oxycodone 15mg/ oxycontin 20mg/ marinol 2.5mg/ and ibuprofen 220mg Marinol is synthetic marijuana and it is doing wonders for his back pain. But if this is the case then shouldn't he theoretically be able to go off of the oxy's? I am so confused. Doctors don't tell me about liver or kidney protection and that is one of my first concerns.
Avatar f tn My son is in the process of relapsing on oxycontin for the second time in 3 months. We have told him he cannot live at our home if he is using. We offered him help, he says he does not need it. He refused to urine test. Chose to leave the house. Living with former/possible relapsed oxy using friend. He is very very angry. What do we do?
Avatar m tn Hi, I have been taking 40mg of Oxycontin three times a day and 15mg of Oxycodone 3 times a day for break-through pain due to severe back and neck pain. I have had surgery on my neck and have numerous problems with my spine. My problem is that I got laid off last week. I will no longer have insurance to get my meds. It's bad enough that I won't be able to get my heart medication and my Coumadin for my clotting problems, now I have to worry about withdrawing from the opiods.
Avatar m tn I am prescribed OxyContin short release and as well as OxyContin time release daily but the OxyContin is not covered by my insurance and is quit expensive. Is there another time release pain medication I could take that would be as safe for the liver as the OxyContin??
Avatar n tn Hi StephanCastlecrag, In actual ,, per doctor recommendation I should not be starting the medication for now. But I want to start the medication. I am HbeAg negative. But I want to start the Medication . On my insisting , Dr told me to start with Baraclude 0.5mg (Entecavir) . Should I start this or should go for Tenofovir ???? What is the major difference between the two ???
Avatar m tn What opiate is recommended for switching off oxycontin?
Avatar f tn just increased the dosages (and added the oxycontin.) We initially picked that as the long-acting one as I did get some relief from the oxycontin. This is such a guessing game. Everyone is so different. They're also talking about trying to get me in for another stellate ganglion block as the last one did give me a good result, even though it was only for a couple of days.
Avatar m tn There is a new Oxycontin on the market. You should not cut any type of long-acting medication. Oxycontin is a long-acting medication and thus you shouldn't ever cut it because you can die of an overdose. The new pill is more tamper-proof. Please be careful. Yes, the 80mg. tablet is an extended release pill that releases medication over a 12 hour period. Can you talk to your doctor about the questions that you have? Are you prescribed oxycodone?
Avatar m tn I have been on 30mg oxycontin 2x a day, and 30mg oxycodone 4x a day for severe chronic pain. I have had 2 neck surgeries, because the first fusion was a failure. Now my PCP has knocked me down to 240 10mg oxycodone, because he claims that the CDC will revoke his license if he doesn't go by there guide lines on the amount of opiate allowed per day. Now my severe pain level is a constant 10+ with severe withdrawl. How many others out there is having this problem, because of the CDC?
Avatar f tn t work, you could look up the name of the drug company that makes oxycontin to see if they have a discount card for their medication. I have seen that on many of the higher costing drugs. I do not understand why, if we pay so much for insurance that they should tell us what we can and and can not take, so sorry I am sorry you are having problems. My husband was on fentanyl and more. His doctor did not show up one day and never returned.
Avatar m tn I was also on oxycodone or oxycontin to control the pain. The ulcer is now healed and I am down to 2 mg diazepam 3 times per day and 5-3325 mg oxycodone taking 1/2 a tablet 3 times per day, as needed. I now have "intractable colorectal spasms". Specialist said I should control the pain thru my G. P. It is uncomfortable to stand, sitting (especially on my "whoppie cushion') is mush more tolerable and laying down leaves me pain free.
Avatar f tn Hi I have been relying on 20mg of controlled release oxycontin to wake-up in the morning for months now. I have been starting with 20 then as that wears of I take another 20. The most I have taken in a day is 80mg. Forgot to mention that I have been chewing them before swallowing. Do you think this will be hard to get off? and what am I going to feel?
Avatar m tn Is Percocet the same thing as oxycontin, only in a non time release formula? I heard the time released stuff works better for chronic pain, Does anybody have experiance with that who can help?
Avatar m tn i disovered oxycontin tabs in my ileostomy pouch that have not disoved, the oxycontin is the slow release type and turns into gooy substance when being disolved according to FDA website. i have also found the goo type in pouch. what are alternatives to this issue ?
Avatar n tn When I convert your current dose of MS Contin into Oxycontin equivalent, you are taking 60 mg less of Oxycontin through the MS Contin. To get dosing equivalent to 120 mg of Oxycontin through administration of MS Contin, you should have been prescribed 180 mg of MS Contin based purely on the pharmacological conversion factor between Oxycontin and MS Contin as Oxycontin is 1.5 times stronger than MS Contin.
Avatar f tn ) but since they are the same chemical, just enteric coating on the oxycontin in order to slow the release of medication. At any rate, I know how you feel about being judged even when you know how much the medication is necessary for comfort for your daily living.I am embarrassed to present my morphine script at the pharmacy. How crazy is that? Good luck with the employment prospect.
